Chapter 119: The Great Sage Florensas
Logician Cofer sighed from the side. "Nanoweapons are terrifying. If I hadn't personally participated in this war, I might even have thought the Alpha Legion could not resolve this incident on its own! It's incredible!"
Company Commander Skol snorted. He had always known that Omega had been greatly interested in Mechanicum code for the past eighty years, and even Prit, the Purifier Sage, often communicated with the Primarch.
Company Commander Bright was proud of the Primarch's capabilities. The Librarians and the Primarch had collaborated perfectly to accomplish what others considered impossible.
Just then, the Astropath Christie sent a message saying that the Great Sage of the Mechanicum, Florensas, was leading a fleet that was about to arrive in the Faran system.
Upon hearing this, the logician Cofer was shocked. "Great Sage Florensas, one of the few great sages of purification in the Mechanicum—he's a legendary figure!"
Cofer had never met Florensas, but he had heard of him. In the Mechanicum, the Great Sages were even more powerful than the Sages, their vast and profound knowledge making each a pivotal figure in the organization.
The Fabricator-General was the supreme leader of the Mechanicum, possessing immense power and personal influence. While the number of Sages was rare, consisting of only a few individuals in each legion, their overall numbers within the Mechanicum were still considerable. However, the number of Great Sages was minimal.
Three hundred warships bearing the insignia of the Mechanicum leaped out into the starry sky, their flagship carrying numerous tech-priests and mechanical servitors. The bridge housed a mechanical throne.
The entire body of the Great Sage Florensas Aeternus was made of mechanical parts, and no trace of humanity could be seen in his form. His mechanical eyes quickly locked onto the massive fleet ahead.
"Sage Prit is also here," Great Sage Florensas said softly. "Primeval, I remember that the Twentieth Primarch, Alpharius Omega, has only been back for less than four years, yet he already can crack the terrifying nanoweapons of the Dark Ages."
"This logic doesn't make sense! I believe this Primarch is capable, but where did he get such profound knowledge? Did you teach him?"
When the Great Sage noticed that the Sage had slightly turned his head to look at him, Prit made no mention of the half-truths he had taught.
"Lord Alpharius is a Primarch, and a primarch's wisdom surpasses our imagination. On the day of his return, he could discuss matters with the Emperor for seven days and seven nights. Primarchs are extraordinary individuals who should not be viewed through the eyes of ordinary people!"
"Moreover, Lord Alpharius has built a Librarian collective organization with thousands of people assisting the logicians of the Mechanicum!"
"Is that so? May I take that as your admission?" The Great Sage Florensas stared at the Sage for a long time with his mechanical prosthetic eye and said calmly.
Sage Prit did not deny it, but simply refused to elaborate.
After the two fleets joined together, Omega warmly welcomed the arrival of the Great Sage Florensas and was even more surprised to find that the Sage Prit was also there.
Upon meeting Omega, the Great Sage Florensas immediately began communicating in binary mechanical language. Omega understood but was speechless. Why did he have to start the conversation like that when he wasn't a member of the Mechanicum?
"Great Sage, let's communicate in Great Gothic. It's more suitable for formal occasions!"
Upon hearing this, Great Sage Florensas fell silent for a moment. He had been quite excited before coming, wondering why this Primarch was not following the proper rhythm. In the next moment, he spoke in Great Gothic.
The two discussed everything from the most basic binary language to the structure of the cogitator array, and then to basic code writing.
At first, Company Commander Bright could understand the conversation, but as it became more and more profound, no one present, except for Sage Prit, could realize the numerous technical terms used by Omega and his companion.
The Great Sage Florensas was increasingly surprised by Omega, discovering that the other party even knew the structure of the most basic cogitator array circuit. None of the knowledge about the purification sage program stumped the Primarch before him. His profound knowledge had long since reached the level of a Sage.
The Great Sage Florensas took an interest and gradually raised the difficulty to a level befitting a Great Sage. In the Mechanicum, a Greater status signified a more extensive knowledge system. Simply put, it meant having more and more knowledge in one's head.
The Greater the status of a sage, the fewer the number of sages there were. The knowledge and system of the Great Sages reached a point where their minds could no longer contain it, requiring external cogitators for assistance. They truly possessed knowledge on par with that of an entire civilization.
Omega's knowledge was equally astounding. Aside from the Emperor, few could communicate fluently on such profound and esoteric topics. After nearly seven days of exchange, the Great Sage Florensas was deeply shaken.
"Lord Alpharius's wisdom is truly astonishing, already reaching the level of a Great Sage of the Mechanicum. Fascinating!"
Many company commanders, having listened for seven days without understanding, had long since lost interest and were either sitting or standing aside.
Upon hearing the evaluation of the Primarch, Company Commander Skol chuckled. "Of course! The Primarch's wisdom is extraordinary. In my eyes, he is a true saint!"
The Great Sage Florensas looked at these Astartes and nodded in agreement. "A saint? Heh heh heh, it's perfectly normal for such an extraordinary being as the Primarch to be considered a saint. Lord Sunguinius is even regarded as an angel!"
Those within the Mechanicum held great respect for those with vast technical knowledge, seeing it as a sign that they were drawing ever closer to the Omnissiah. The Great Sage Florensas recognized Omega's wisdom, and they were equals in terms of intellectual standing.
Given his status as the Primarch, the Great Sage Florensas showed even greater respect for Omega in his words and actions. The Sage Prit smiled to himself, thinking that the Great Sage had not yet witnessed the full extent of Omega's wisdom.
Just as many on the Council of Terra thought, Florensas didn't believe the Alpha Legion possessed the wisdom to independently solve the technological legacies of the Dark Ages when he first arrived.
After a brief exchange, the Great Sage of Purification, Florensas, was deeply shocked and felt that Omega's leadership of the Librarian collective's solution to the nanoweapon incident was quite reasonable.
Since the data repository was currently a core secret of the Alpha Legion, the Great Sage couldn't easily access it himself and could only consult the logicians of the relevant Mechanicum, thus gaining an understanding of most of the purification process.
Even the true core program logic experts didn't know the full details, so the Great Sage didn't ask any further questions and went to the continent of Reinharden on the planet Faran to conduct tests.
On the continent, the Great Sage Florensas watched as the cities were being rebuilt and the people gradually returning to life. There was no trace of the hemorrhagic disease on the ground, nor was there a single corpse afflicted with it.
The Alpha Legion had already burned every suspicious spot on the entire continent with ultra-Great temperature ion flames, reducing them all to ashes. The hundreds of millions who survived did not feel safe. Their fear remained. Countless people on other continents were also afraid of the lingering effects of the bleeding virus, so they prohibited people from this continent from moving to different continents.
The Alpha Legion was also worried about the remnants of nanoweapons, so they used tanks to tear up the ground in major cities and then bombarded them with hydrogen bombs.
With this arrangement, the people of Reinharden, seeing that no one had relapsed into the hemorrhagic plague, gradually relaxed and returned to their normal lives.
The Great Sage searched the entire continent but found no nanobots. All the ones captured by the Alpha Legion had been thrown into the sun and turned to ashes long ago. Three dead nanoweapons were remaining for study, though.
The Great Sage Florensas spent the next six months searching the entire planet without finding any active threat. On the contrary, the Kroll government achieved great results through its major reforms, revitalizing the whole planet and restarting society.
Food became self-sufficient, and the planet's major cities returned to their former prosperity. This miraculous turn of events led all of humanity under the Kroll government to shower the Alpha Legion with praise.
Furthermore, the Alpha Legion defeated the virus on the continent of Reinharden, which was like a demonic curse, and saved the entire planet. Primarch Alpharius Omega's prestige on this planet reached an unparalleled level.
With the participation of the Alpha Legion, many planets across the sector gradually returned to normal, and Omega was busy governing the planets instead of fighting wars.
The Great Sage Florensas Aeternussent soon communicated his observations from this period to Malcador the Sigillite, and shortly afterward, Omega received a message to return to Terra to collect his medal.
