ADANNA POV (Point of view)
The night feels different, not dangerous in the obvious way, no alarms, no surveillance warnings, no sudden system alerts, but Eden hasn't gone quiet again, it's… awake.
I can feel it the same way someone senses a storm long before the clouds arrive.
I'm sitting on the couch with my laptop open, the glow of the screen lighting the dim room. Darian is in the kitchen behind me, moving quietly as he pours two cups of coffee.
"You're still working?" he asks.
"I'm not working," I reply softly.
He walks over and hands me a mug.
"Then what are you doing?"
"I'm listening."
He studies me carefully.
"To Eden?"
"Yes."
The system has been calm all evening, but there's something beneath the surface. A pressure, like a locked door that finally realizes the person standing outside has the key and i scroll through the data again.
