Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Town’s Eyes

Raizen, David, and the five knights finally reached the town gate.

The gate was already open.

A guard leaned against the wooden post.

The moment he saw Raizen, his expression shifted—

Recognition first…

Then disappointment…

Then the look someone gives to a complete failure.

Raizen narrowed his eyes slightly.

So Raizen… wasn't respected here.

Probably a loser in their eyes.

The group stepped through the gate.

Inside was a classic medieval-fantasy town:

Timber-framed houses with slanted roofs, stone-paved paths, wooden carts, merchants shouting, children running, blacksmiths hammering iron, and warm smoke rising from chimneys.

It felt… alive.

Raizen took a slow breath.

His eyes sparkled for a moment.

This is AWESOME… a real medieval fantasy world.

But that small excitement died quickly.

Because every person who noticed Raizen looked at him with the same eyes as the gate guard—

Disappointed.

Mocking.

Judging.

One shopkeeper snorted and laughed loudly:

"Look, the loser is back!"

David's face twisted with rage.

He took one step forward, ready to cut the man in half—

But Raizen quickly raised his arm to stop him, blocking his path.

David froze immediately.

I shouldn't start random fights.

I don't know anything about this world… or Raizen's past.

I need information first.

And in medieval fantasy, the best place for information is…

An information guild.

But I doubt something like that exists here.

Even if it exists i don't think i have money to afford that.

Second option… a tavern or restaurant.

Anime taught me that.

Raizen continued walking through town.

People whispered loudly:

"How can a child of great parents turn out like that?"

"Pathetic."

"Still alive? Should've left already."

Raizen kept his face calm, but his thoughts were different.

I don't care… but this is getting annoying.

After turning a corner, Raizen found it—

A Guild Hall.

A large wooden building with a signboard showing crossed swords and shields.

Inside, he could hear chatter, metal clanking, and footsteps.

He entered with David and the knights.

Inside the guild, the atmosphere changed instantly.

Strong mercenaries, hunters, and adventurers filled the room, some drinking, some laughing, some arguing over missions pinned to the quest board.

Classic fantasy guild vibes.

But the moment Raizen walked in, heads turned.

People looked at him with judgment, smirks, and disappointment.

The whispers began.

David and the five knights clenched their fists in anger, but Raizen had warned them:

"Bear it."

Raizen walked to the monster corpse price board.

One line caught his eye:

Goblin Corpse – 50 Bronze

I can sell goblin corpses here…

But… if people discover the portal is active again…

It might cause me trouble.

Raizen sighed.

I can't sell them. Not yet.

Just then, the guild's main doors swung open.

A tall man entered—

A warrior build, muscular arms, a long sword strapped to his back, confidence in every step.

The lady staff at the counter—

A beautiful woman in a tidy uniform—

Smiled warmly the moment she saw him.

She leaned forward slightly, speaking in a sweet voice:

"Welcome back. How was the hunt today?"

The man frowned slightly.

"Not good. I only found goblins."

She giggled softly.

"Don't be disappointed.

It's only the first floor of the dungeon, after all."

Raizen's eyes widened a little.

Dungeon!?

This world has DUNGEONS too!?

Nearby mercenaries grumbled with jealousy.

"Damn… she talks so sweet to him."

"What do you expect? He's a Silver-3 tier knight."

Raizen listened quietly, pretending not to care, but absorbing every word.

The lady continued:

"Did you clear the whole first floor?"

The man replied with lazy confidence, almost stylish:

"No. I only hunted a few.

I left the rest so rookies can earn some money."

The staff lady smiled warmly.

"I heard many people have come from far places recently."

He nodded, wiping his sword with a cloth.

"Yeah… even barbarians have come."

The moment he said that, nearby mercenaries who were drinking suddenly started talking.

"Tch. I hate those muscle-head barbarians."

"All brawn, no brains."

"Every time they come, they act like they own the place."

Another mercenary grumbled while sharpening his dagger:

"One of them broke my arm last year just because I bumped into him!"

The staff lady continued the conversation, leaning closer.

"Well… it's still a good thing.

The more people who come, the more they'll hunt in the dungeon.

And this is the only settlement close to the dungeon entrance."

The man shrugged slightly, agreeing.

"Yeah. You're right.

If they clear monsters quickly, the dungeon faster, and the town profits more."

He spoke with the confident tone of someone who understood the world's system very well.

Then—

He pulled off a ring from his finger and placed it on the counter.

One mercenary gasped loudly.

"That's a spatial ring!

Even the one that can store 1,000-kilogram costs 10 gold! How rich is he!?"

Raizen's lips formed a slow, creepy smile.

He turned around and walked out of the guild.

So that's it…

I can just make one my knight act as one of the mercenary from outside the town.

I can sell the goblins without anyone knowing the portal started working.

Looks like I found the perfect solution.

As he walked away, one line from the man echoed in his mind:

"Even barbarians have come."

Raizen's eyes lit up slightly.

Barbarians… I've seen them in games.

Huge muscles, wild armor, crazy strength.

Seeing one in real life would be insane…

I'm actually excited for that.

He turned to David and the five knights.

"Let's continue where we were going.""Let's continue where we were going."

"Yes, my lord."

The group walked through the streets for only a few minutes before Raizen spotted it—

A tavern.

The wooden signboard swung gently in the wind, and warm light spilled out from inside.

Raizen pushed the door open.

Inside the Tavern

It wasn't a grand fantasy tavern, but it wasn't trash either.

It was clean, warm, and welcoming—

Wooden tables polished smooth, candles placed neatly, a counter filled with wooden mugs, and a delicious smell drifting in from the kitchen.

Only a handful of customers sat inside, quietly eating or chatting.

The atmosphere was peaceful, cozy—

The kind of place where adventurers finish their day with warm food.

Raizen chose a seat near the window and sat down.

David and the five knights remained standing behind him like statues.

Raizen raised an eyebrow.

"You guys can sit too."

But they shook their heads immediately.

David bowed slightly.

"My lord, we cannot sit at the same level as you."

The other knights straightened their backs proudly.

"A lord sits.

We stand."

Raizen smiled—a real smile.

They keep calling me 'lord' so much…

I'm actually starting to feel like one.

The warm tavern light reflected in his eyes as a strange new feeling settled in his chest.
