Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 — The Fifth Wave

The portal flickered violently.

And then—

SHUUUUAAA!!

Sixty goblins poured out of the swirling vortex, screaming and drooling, gripping sharp branches like crude weapons.

Raizen didn't lose composure. Not even a little.

He simply narrowed his eyes… then smiled.

12 vs 60, huh?

He stepped forward like a true commander.

"David," Raizen said. "Can you handle twenty-five of those ugly bastards?"

David gripped his sword so tight his knuckles turned white.

"Without a doubt, my lord!"

Raizen pointed at the next group.

"Remi—fifteen."

"Yes, my lord!" she shouted, eyes burning.

"And the remaining thirty…" Raizen looked at the rest of his knights.

"You ten. Show me what real knights can do."

"YES, MY LORD!!"

Their voices echoed through the forest.

Raizen raised an arm.

"Then what are you waiting for?

Kill them."

David shot forward like an arrow, Remi right beside him, and the ten trainee knights charged behind them.

The goblins screeched and rushed in.

The first wave collided—

and David swung his new sword once.

SWOOSH—SLASH!

Six goblin heads flew into the air in a single arc.

Raizen blinked.

Guess levelling him up AND giving him a new sword was worth it.

Remi struck next—her sword pierced two goblins in one thrust.

Her movements were sharp, fluid, deadly.

Behind them, the ten knights overpowered the goblins one-on-one.

Trainee level or not—they fought with honor, formation, and discipline.

Every slash, every step, every block—they pushed the goblins backward.

But then—

One of the girl trainee knights slipped and fell.

A goblin leaped at her, branch raised overhead—

—about to crush her skull.

She froze.

But David didn't.

CRACK!

His blade split the goblin in half before it landed.

He extended a hand.

"Be careful on the battlefield."

The girl's face turned bright red as she stared at his back.

Remi noticed.

Her face twitched.

Then she turned into a goblin-killing blender.

SLASH SLASH SLASH—!!

Jealousy-powered murder spree.

The remaining goblins fell like leaves in a storm.

Within minutes, the fight was over.

Not a single knight died.

Only minor injuries.

David and Remi didn't even use a single potion.

It was a complete one-sided slaughter.

Raizen watched with a satisfied nod.

"Good.

That was easy."

A panel appeared:

[600 points gained]

[15 minutes until Sixth Wave]

[Special Features Unlocked]

[Poison has been cured]

Raizen blinked.

"Huh? That's it?

No glowing light? No dramatic explosion?"

He rolled his shoulders.

"…Didn't feel anything."

Knights in the background dragged goblin corpses into a pile.

The system continued:

[Special Feature Benefits

1. Quests

2. You can now summon 6 types of knights:

• Sword Wielder

• Spear Wielder

• Mace Wielder

• Axe Wielder

• War Hammer Wielder

• Dagger Wielder]

Raizen's eyes widened.

"Six types?

How do I summon them?"

A new panel appeared.

[Summon Feature — Level 1]

1. Summon Trainee Knight — 100 points

2. Summon — Locked

3. Summon — Locked

Raizen tapped "Summon Trainee Knight."

Another panel appeared.

[Which type of knight?

All cost 100 points.]

Raizen smirked.

"Let's try a Spear Wielder first."

[Trainee Knight Summoned.

100 points deducted.

Remaining: 300]

A knight holding a spear appeared and bowed deeply.

Raizen inspected him.

"…Only difference is the weapon, huh?"

[Correct. The only difference is weapon capability.

Sword = best for close combat

Spear = best for long range thrusting]

Raizen nodded and waved at the new knight.

"Stand up. Go and meet your fellow knights."

The old knights immediately surrounded the new guy.

David flexed his arms.

"See this sword?

Lord Raizen gave it to me.

I'm obviously his favorite knight."

Another knight pushed him.

"No, I'm the most loyal!"

Another shouted, "I'm more loyal than you!"

David flexed harder.

"But I'm the strongest."

The others groaned.

Raizen sighed.

Like Children…

Raizen called one of the trainee knights.

The knight ran toward him, bowing deeply.

"What can I do for you, my lord?"

Raizen frowned.

"System… how do I know his number?"

[Just touch him and say "Upgrade."]

Raizen placed a hand on the knight's shoulder.

"Upgrade."

[Knight No.6 upgraded → Bronze–1]

[200 points deducted]

[Remaining: 100]

The knight's body glowed faintly.

Strength exploded through his veins. His posture straightened. Muscles tightened.

He dropped to his knee.

"THANK YOU, MY LORD!

Please order me anything!"

Behind him—

the other knights whispered:

"When will we get gifts…?"

"I want to get strong too…"

"Lord Raizen, please look at me next…"

Raizen chuckled.

A panel popped up:

[Give No.6 a Name]

Raizen thought.

Might make him a dungeon mercenary later…

Hmm… Nox Reven.

He typed it.

The knight bowed.

"Thank you for the name, Lord Raizen!

I will make you proud!"

David and Remi watched with mild jealousy.

Not the bad kind—

just the

"Why didn't I get a title?"

kind.

Raizen noticed.

Ah… I forgot to give them titles… later then.

Raizen pulled out the old safe and the sword from his ring and placed it on the ground.

Then he removed his spatial ring and handed it to Nox Reven.

"Take this ring.

You know the guild in town?"

"Yes, my lord."

"You will go there and sell the goblin corpses.

If anyone asks where you got them—say dungeon.

If they ask where you're from—say Mistral Hall, near the eastern mountain."

Nox Reven nodded and turned—

And Raizen glared.

"Oi.

Wait i haven't finished yet and You didn't even take the corpses."

Nox Reven froze.

"…Ah."

Even David facepalmed.

Nox Reven paused mid-step, turned back, and hurried to Raizen.

He knelt on one knee, head lowered.

"L-Lord, I am impudent…!

Please punish me!"

Raizen blinked twice.

"…Okay, okay, stop."

He waved his hand quickly.

"Don't be so serious.

And don't ever say 'punish me.'

I don't like it. It feels weird."

Nox Reven straightened a little, still embarrassed.

Raizen looked at David.

"David. How many goblin corpses are there?"

David immediately walked toward the piled corpses.

He squinted…

…then stopped.

He puffed out his chest with confidence.

"My lord, there are—"

Raizen sighed deeply.

"Remi. Count them."

Remi walked forward, glanced once…

"Seventy-one corpses, my lord."

David froze.

Remi gave him a smug look.

Raizen nodded.

"Good. Nox Reven—store the corpses."

Nox Reven stiffened.

He stared at the pile…

…then glanced at Raizen…

…then at the other knights…

…then back at the pile.

His expression said:

"I don't know how to use the ring, but I don't want to ask and embarrass myself."

The other knights, who also didn't know how to use a spatial ring, looked away as if they were suddenly very interested in the ground.

Raizen's eyes half-closed.

He sighed again.

"Just put your hand on the corpse and think about storing it," he explained.

Nox Reven's eyes lit up.

"Yes, my lord!"

He went to the pile and quickly stored all the goblin corpses into the spatial ring—each body vanishing with a small flicker of blue light.

Raizen nodded in satisfaction.

Then he gave the final instructions:

"Nox Reven—go to the equipment shop David and I visited earlier.

Buy two Tier-1 Strengthening Potions and two Tier-1 Healing Potions.

Then ask the shop lady if she has any armor below 10 silver…

or armor around 10 silver.

Buy one sets if possible."

Before Nox Reven could answer—

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Raizen flinched.

"What—!? Did the wave start!?"

He turned sharply toward the portal…

…but the portal was calm.

The sound came again.

grrrrrrrr

Raizen slowly turned his head.

All twelve knights were holding their stomachs.

Hungry.

Raizen's eye twitched.

"…Damn. I'm hungry too."

So he added:

"And buy some food. Enough for everyone."

Nox Reven bowed.

"Yes, my lord!"

He turned and sprinted toward the town, sword bouncing on his waist.
