Hiruzen handed a dossier to Ruri; it contained information about her squad's newest member.
Ruri took it calmly and gave it a quick glance—it's a kid with a bowl-cut hairstyle and super thick eyebrows, flashing a bright set of spotless teeth.
Looks like a guy with a lot of stamina.
"What do you think?"
"He'll do."
Ruri nodded. Honestly, she didn't have any special preference for what kind of Genin she led—she wasn't aiming for any promotions.
She just found her job in the Uchiha Security Team way too boring, so she started taking on missions for a bit of fun.
Carrying the new member's info, Ruri didn't linger; she headed for the meeting spot assigned to her team.
"Ruri-sensei!"
When she arrived, two kids around ten years old were already waiting there.
As soon as they saw Ruri, they called out cheerfully.
Since the other one had gone to the Intel Division, Ruri's squad now had just two Genin.
"Genma, the new guy isn't here yet?"
"Nah, haven't seen him yet."
The Genin called Genma shook his head, munching on a 'toothpick.'
"He's probably on his way. We've still got half an hour till the official meeting time."
The boy in a black ninja suit and black sunglasses said.
They waited about ten minutes before suddenly, a kid in a green jumpsuit and bowl-cut hairstyle dashed over.
"Finally, you're here! Man, you made us wait. Hope you won't get totally wrecked in a minute."
Genma started grinning mischievously.
"I think I know this guy…"
The boy in black sunglasses pushed up his frames, as if he recognized the newcomer.
The new kid stopped in front of Ruri and the two others, panting, then flashed a wide smile—his gleaming white teeth practically blinding.
"Hey everyone, I'm Might Guy. Starting today, I'm joining the squad. Nice to meet you all!"
"..."
Damn, those teeth are bright.
And the green outfit is…weird.
This was the unanimous thought in Ruri and the two boys' minds.
"Uchiha Ruri, your squad's Jonin and captain. She's great at Fire Style and Taijutsu, not so hot with Illusion Technique."
Ruri nodded. From his build and stance, he matched the intel—good at Taijutsu.
"Huh?"
The boy named Might Guy looked pretty surprised.
Ninja from the Uchiha Clan, but not good at Illusion Technique?
That's…odd.
Genma walked over and patted Guy on the shoulder, chuckling, "You'll find out soon, newbie. I'm Shiranui Genma, nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you!"
Guy flashed his perfect white teeth again.
"I'm Ebisu, and my hobby is…"
The boy in black sunglasses began introducing himself.
"Reading H novels."
Genma chimed in.
"Yeah, my hobby is reading H novels…uh…NO IT'S NOT! Why would it be H novels?!"
Ebisu's face turned bright red as he barked furiously at Genma.
"Um…"
Might Guy interrupted their exchange.
"What's up?"
"What's an H novel? Is that some sort of powerful book?"
His face was super serious.
"..."
Genma and Ebisu scratched their heads, not sure how to explain.
This guy…is his brain okay?
"Quit talking about pointless stuff. It's tradition—the newbie goes up against me first."
Ruri called out from a short distance away.
"Yes, Ruri-sensei!"
Genma and Ebisu shot Guy a look full of pity and moved aside to spectate.
"A match? With a Jonin? Awesome! My youth is BLOOMING!"
Learning he could spar with Ruri—a Jonin—Guy didn't seem scared at all. Instead, he was fired up and raring to go.
A chance to spar with a Jonin wasn't exactly common—he had to seize the moment and leave a good impression.
Ruri glanced at him, then plucked a shuriken from her ninja tool bag, spinning it between her fingers.
"Alright, let's begin."
She spun the shuriken on her finger, then flicked her wrist—like a black lightning bolt, it shot straight at Guy.
Guy's eyes went wide—so fast, no way he could dodge.
He desperately grabbed a kunai to block. The pain shot through his arm and he couldn't help but grimace, obviously hurting.
This is Jonin-level?
Just one ordinary shuriken showed that much strength.
Guy felt like his body was practically burning up.
"Leaf Whirlwind!"
No hesitation; after blocking the shuriken, Guy pressed the attack and went after Ruri.
Genma and Ebisu watched calmly. The newbie was pretty fast and strong, but compared to "Ruri-sensei," who looked like a devil to them, he was basically playing house.
As expected, his combo kick was easily sidestepped by Ruri.
Guy didn't get discouraged. If Jonin were that easy to hit, they wouldn't be Jonin.
Even if it was just a test, Guy planned to go all out.
"Gate of Opening—Open!"
Under Genma and Ebisu's surprised eyes, Guy's speed and strength ramped up again.

Watching his attacks once again get effortlessly dodged by Ruri, Guy frowned.
