"Heh, invisibility, huh? So that's how you plan to run away? Pretty impressive, but that kind of trick doesn't work on a real Duelist."
Dinosaur Lyuzaki said to Tenjo Hikari, "And don't you dare think of using that kind of cheap move in a Duel."
"Ha, of course not, Brother Lyuzakii."
Lyuzakii was just reminding Tenjo Hikari. He'd watched Tenjo Hikari Duel several times already, so naturally he didn't doubt him.
After a long while, the plane landed in Domino City. The pilot asked Tenjo Hikari for an autograph. Tenjo Hikari signed his name, then thought for a bit and asked Dinosaur Lyuzaki to help by signing as well.
"Ha, my signature's not worth anything."
"But if we add yours, then this becomes the only autograph card signed by both of us, the Fengguang representatives, right?"
Dinosaur Lyuzaki chuckled and signed his own name on the Card as well.
Tenjo Hikari then thanked the pilot again and finally waved goodbye.
Taking the risk to help Fengguang Company transport people, of course he deserved some gratitude.
After that, Tenjo Hikari followed Dinosaur Lyuzaki's lead and advanced through Domino City.
Unexpectedly, Domino City seemed very sparsely populated. There were hardly any cars on the streets and roads, let alone pedestrians.
It was supposed to be the "Duel Capital," but the city instead gave off a vibe of tranquil days and peaceful times.
Dinosaur Lyuzaki said this was because Kaiba Company had shifted strategies; Dimension adventures and Dimension Duels were the most popular thing now. So Domino City, this "Duel Capital," was naturally the city most in step with the trend. Most of the Duelists here were actually off adventuring in different Dimensions.
Tenjo Hikari nodded, indicating he understood.
Just like "Muto Sugoroku" the old man.
In the original story, when Judai and Shou and the others came to Domino City on their school trip, they could casually visit Grandpa Sugoroku's card shop, and could look at some legendary Cards through the glass. But in this world, because of various changes, Domino City was no longer that easy to enter.
Someone like Grandpa Sugoroku, with that famously "kidnappable" physique, naturally needed extra screening.
Especially because "Muto Yugi" himself was also traveling through different Dimensions and had brought back all sorts of strange Cards to leave in the card shop, which made it all the more important not to let anyone just come in and snatch things.
Lyuzakii led Tenjo Hikari to a card shop, jerked his chin toward it, and motioned for Tenjo Hikari to go. Tenjo Hikari nodded; a few men in black immediately gathered around on the way. Tenjo Hikari took out a Card and showed it to them. After seeing the certification and likeness on the Card, they nodded and stepped aside.
Tenjo Hikari knocked on the shop door. An old man with a wobbly starfish-shaped hairstyle opened the door with his hands behind his back, and the first thing out of his mouth was, "You're that kid Jonouchi mentioned?"
Just as he finished that sentence, suddenly Tenjo Hikari heard a loud bang.
"Aaah——" Dinosaur Lyuzaki's voice sounded from behind Tenjo Hikari.
Tenjo Hikari and Grandpa Sugoroku both looked toward the street. The men in black parted with bewildered faces, and in the distance a green figure came charging over.
Dinosaur Lyuzaki turned around to flee, but he'd barely taken a few steps when the figure caught up to him. A leg hooked his left foot, tripping him to the ground. Then a right arm locked around Lyuzakii's neck, the left hand went up and braced, forming a solid cross, while the right leg tightly pinned one of his legs, forcing him down in an instant and making him cry out in panic.
Tenjo Hikari's pupils narrowed slightly.
The man was wearing a green jacket, and looked quite sturdy.
"J–Jonouchi!!!" For the first time, Dinosaur Lyuzaki was completely and utterly flustered. "L–Let go!"
"Ha, this is the first time I've ever seen you this rattled, senpai."
Off to the side, Tierra suddenly appeared to watch the show.
"If I let you go, you'll just run off!" The amber-eyed man shouted at the top of his lungs. "Then vanish without a word for ten-plus years! You've been dodging yours truly all these years, haven't you!"
"Cough, cough—cough—" Dinosaur Lyuzaki pounded desperately at him.
Seeing this, Tenjo Hikari hurried over. "If you keep that up, Brother Lyuzakii's gonna suffocate!"
At those words, Jonouchi froze for a second and quickly let go. Dinosaur Lyuzaki slowly got to his feet and coughed for quite a while. Not far away, Grandpa Sugoroku asked, utterly confused, "Jonouchi, what on earth is going on—"
"Ah, Master…" Jonouchi greeted him. "Thanks to you, I finally caught him this time!"
Just as he said that, Dinosaur Lyuzaki, still coughing and catching his breath, suddenly darted to the side and rushed forward while Jonouchi was distracted—his physical condition clearly wasn't so bad that he couldn't breathe or move.
However, Jonouchi's physical ability far surpassed that of ordinary people as well. The moment Lyuzakii slipped out of his line of sight, he took off after him at a sprint.
One fled and one chased. Just then, someone's voice rang out.
"Duel."
All of a sudden.
Their movements slowly came to a stop.
Lyuzakii turned his head and looked at Tenjo Hikari, dazedly asking, "What did you just say?"
"Brother Lyuzakii, I said let's Duel—Duelists are supposed to settle things with a Duel, aren't they?"
Upon hearing that, Jonouchi's eyes lit up. He shot Tenjo Hikari a big thumbs-up.
"He's right, Lyuzakii. Duel me. You and me!" Jonouchi grinned, his white teeth practically sparkling.
A Duel, huh?
Me and… Jonouchi?
Dinosaur Lyuzaki looked at Jonouchi, and for a moment he actually hesitated.
After more than ten years, he hadn't felt fear in a long time. Having survived by relying on Duels, he now, just like ten years ago, found himself growing afraid of Duels again.
"Brother Lyuzakii, you decided to keep moving forward so you could help me get more chances and meet more Legendary Duelists. If you hesitate here again, wouldn't that be a waste?"
From a distance, Tenjo Hikari said, "Right now should be the best chance, shouldn't it? The chance to completely say goodbye to everything in the past."
"You brat…" Dinosaur Lyuzaki took a deep breath. "Why are you always so damn smooth-tongued…"
But he had to admit it.
What Tenjo Hikari said always had its reasons, its logic—and… his own thoughts and convictions behind it.
Jonouchi laughed twice. "So, Lyuzakii, what do you say? You're not gonna tell me you're worse than a kid from the next generation, are you?"
Dinosaur Lyuzaki knew he couldn't run anymore. Even Tenjo Hikari had said this much, so there was no way he could still run. After all, if Tenjo Hikari joined the chase too, no matter how he ran he wouldn't get away.
He thought for a moment, then equipped his Duel Disk. The old-model Duel Disk activated automatically, extending out in front of him like a blade.
On the other side, Jonouchi extended his left arm. At some point, a circular device had been strapped to it; it automatically unfolded, flashing with black light as it transformed into a black New Era Duel Disk, shuffling and cutting his Deck on its own.
"Duel!" ×2.
Calm yet faintly hot-blooded voices rang out at the same time.
