Chapter 401 - Chapter 105: Help [Double-Length]

Dumbledore crossed his hands, placing them on his abdomen, and lowered his eyes in contemplation.

Vid continued, "I don't know if my suspicion of Professor Abigail is correct, but I know... those people are coveting the poppet technology, and so far, among those who have shown unusual interest, this professor is the most suspicious."

Is it necessary to use poppets for Defense Against the Dark Arts?

Of course not, many creatures can be found in the Forbidden Forest or Black Lake, and if really necessary, you could ask Hagrid to get some. Real creatures can teach students more.

Even if it's because of Professor Abigail's unique teaching style, with her personality, she should catch a few more Red Caps from the Forbidden Forest to give the students a "surprise," rather than asking Vid to help with teaching aids.

Of course, the main reason Vid is suspicious is because she is the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

This cursed subject has a strong attraction to various problematic figures, and no one has ever lasted a year in this position.

Of course, Abigail is neither a vampire nor a werewolf, and there's no evidence linking her to either, which is why Vid and Dumbledore are still unsure.

...

The wind howled and thunder rumbled, and from inside the room, you could see huge raindrops pelting against the glass windows with a pitter-patter.

Michael woke up feeling very troubled. Sitting in the common room with his messy hair, he stared blankly at the terrible weather outside.

Upon hearing footsteps on the spiral staircase, Michael turned his head to see Vid.

"Morning, Vid," Michael said. "Look at the awful weather today, the Quidditch match probably won't go on as planned, right?"

"Hmm?" Vid asked, not quite understanding. "Has the school ever canceled a match due to weather?"

He genuinely wasn't clear on the detailed rules regarding this.

Michael sighed, "No… I don't want to miss the match, and I also don't want to get rained on."

"Bring an umbrella," Vid said briefly.

Michael pouted, "In such heavy rain, an umbrella doesn't help much."

Vid spread his hands, "Then there's nothing I can do. Either get wet watching the match, or stay comfortably in the common room. You have to choose one."

He knew Michael was just complaining and would ultimately choose to watch the match because he was a dedicated Quidditch fan, even though he wasn't very good at playing himself.

Sure enough, despite Michael groaning as if he wanted to grow into the sofa in front of the fireplace, when Vid was ready to leave, Michael still followed along, complaining all the way.

"Vid, can an Atmospheri Charm change this dreadful weather?"

"Yes."

"Can you..."

"No. The Atmospheri Charm can alter weather, but my spell can't work on such a large scale."

"Sigh... Vid, did you forget to bring an umbrella?"

"I don't need one—I don't plan to watch the match."

Michael felt even more depressed.

The two soon reached the Great Hall, then Michael's spirits suddenly lifted—because he saw people worse off than himself.

The players from the Gryffindor and Slytherin teams had already arrived to have breakfast, glaring at each other across the long table, trying to kill each other with their eyes.

And just the thought that these people would soon be competing amidst the storm made Michael feel that getting a little wet wasn't so bad.

Carrel was also sitting at the Gryffindor table, animatedly talking to Harry beside him.

"Hey, if you can't see clearly, others probably can't either, then it's down to whose eyesight is better..."

"Thanks, Carrel," Harry said with a bitter face, "My eyesight is probably the worst among both teams."

He said, pushing up his glasses.

"That's exactly my point! Why not turn your glasses into waterproof binoculars? If they could track the Golden Snitch automatically, that would be even better! Directly locking onto the game!"

Harry stared at him, shamelessly tempted.

But soon, he snapped back to reality, shaking his head, "No, that's definitely against the rules!"

"Oh, come on, in such heavy rain, who can tell if your glasses are any different? Everyone knows you wear glasses regularly..."

Carrel was halfway through persuading when he saw Vid and Michael coming in, excitedly waving his arms in greeting, and casually sat at the Ravenclaw table, sharing his idea with Vid.

"Don't you think it makes sense? Equipment is part of the game too!" Carrel said assertively.

Michael nodded repeatedly, but hesitantly said, "Although... if the professor realizes it, we might be disqualified..."

"Eh, let them realize it first!" Carrel eagerly asked, "Vid, can you make binoculars that look like normal glasses?"

Vid swallowed his toast before saying, "I can, but there's no need... pass me that plate of boiled pea pods."

"This one?" Carrel handed over the boiled pea pods.

Vid tapped his magic wand, and the peas queued out, leaving only the empty pods.

Then, he transformed the pile of pea pods into windproof goggles, adding waterproof and moisture-proof charms.

"Here you go, these goggles should last until tomorrow morning," Vid said.

Carrel cheered, "Fantastic, Vid, you're our savior!"

He ran back to the Gryffindor table with the goggles, sharing the news with Wood and the others. The Gryffindor team was ecstatic, gesturing their thanks to Vid.
