Chapter 953 - Chapter 51: Memory 3

Which...which generation? What kind of question is that?

Jensen was slightly stunned, and suddenly realized something. He quickly looked at his own hands and then touched his face.

His skin had become more elastic, the wounds and calluses disappeared from his hands, his knuckles were no longer so thick, and what should have been a stubbled chin was now smooth!

Jensen immediately realized—he had become younger!

Recalling the "infant" that had degraded into a mass of flesh and blood before his eyes, Jensen was filled with chills, panic engulfing him like a tidal wave, making him even forget to speak.

He looked in panic at the young man with a ponytail in front of him, saw the other pulling out a small wand, pointing at his own nose, and his nosebleed stopped immediately.

This was a wizard!

"I...I..."

Jensen put his hands together, the fear of death making him want to seek help from his opponent, but at that moment, the ponytailed wizard raised his head, looked behind him, and showed a panicked expression!

"Watch out---!!!"

The shout broke out as the white mist suddenly expanded, and after a moment of shaking, the surroundings turned into a strange place.

Vid blinked and saw that Jensen was still in the form of a twelve or thirteen-year-old child, and it was evident from his eyes that turning smaller had not brought Jensen's memory back to childhood, he still remembered what had happened to him.

At this moment, he was tied with a sturdy leather belt to a cold metal bed, under a glaring shadowless lamp, surrounded by various instruments and tubes flickering with unknown readings.

Vid's gaze turned forward and unsurprisingly found that the extent of the deterioration in the surrounding environment had expanded further, with several people walking back and forth in the room, but only one wizard in a well-dressed black robe remained clear.

The wizard was whispering with another person:

"...Extreme risk, Sir. Time Magic is one of the highest forbidden fields. Even Unspeakables, only a very few are allowed to research it. Any slight mistake, the cost will be...complete chaos..."

"Sir" snorted, saying: "But if we can control that kind of power, then rejuvenation...even resurrection, it's not impossible, right? I can see that those sands have that kind of power!"

"Yes, you are absolutely right." The wizard slightly bowed, saying: "But this is also the most strictly monitored field by the Magic Congress, any tiny time fluctuation will be discovered by the Department of Mysteries, we might be exposed very soon..."

"One hundred million, US dollars."

The words that reached his ears abruptly stopped the wizard's voice.

Sir paused, continued to say: "That's the pay for you personally."

The wizard's breath suddenly became rapid.

Sir continued: "Moreover, I intend to first invest five hundred million in this project. If there are subsequent results...one billion, two billion...it's no issue."

There was a smile and enticement in his voice, "Though it's ordinary people's paper currency, you should already be very aware of the purchasing power of US dollars."

"No matter what kind of money, its ultimate purpose isn't much different...think about it, how many years in the Magic World would you have to work to accumulate the same wealth?"

"Never possible!" The wizard said in a low voice full of resentment, "Even if I could work for five hundred years without eating or drinking, there's no way to accumulate such wealth."

Sir laughed: "After all, the Magic World is a closed society. You thousands of people amusing yourselves in the United States, how can that compare to the enormous wealth brought by billions of people globally?"

The wizard was silent.

The silence was not because he opposed, but because he inwardly agreed very much, yet subconsciously did not want to admit it.

After a moment, Sir asked: "So...can you do it?"

Thinking for a while, he added: "Don't worry about touching upon the taboos of the Magic Congress or that International Wizard Organization. This world is very large, I don't believe wizards can monitor every corner."

A few seconds later, the wizard suddenly said: "At sea."

Sir: "Hmm?"

The wizard said: "On the vast sea, no magic organization has the capability to monitor comprehensively."

"I need more samples, more data, deeper research...Time Magic is the most uncontrollable magic, to avoid failure, we must be fully prepared..."

His voice gradually lowered, becoming more blurred whispers.

Jensen struggled to keep his eyes wide open, trying to hear clearly the conversation, but under the effect of the drugs, he helplessly sank into a stupor.

Thus, Vid could no longer make out what the two were saying, the surrounding images flickered and jumped rapidly like a phantasmagoria, fragmented scenes making one feel like being in a bizarre dream.

He saw a soldier missing an arm roaring and turning into an infant with severed limbs, letting out a cry before disappearing from the platform;

He also saw a gaunt woman slapping a glass door, movements like a very slow dance, her eyes and body movements not matching at all;

And there was an old man wearing a respirator, when golden sands fell on his body, he turned into white bones instantly, and immediately became a baby again, his body shooting up to a teenager, he had not yet shown a smile before turning into a dying old man again.

Cycle after cycle...unable to break free.

So soon, no matter what stage of life the person was in, his expression was the same pain and despair, he pleaded: "Stop, let me die!"

However, the people around him showed no sign of compassion.

These fragmented pieces were filled with screams, distortion, and pain, intermittently the voice of the researcher sounded, yet it was equally cold.
