For a straight-A student.
Reproducing a similar operation isn't too difficult. The reason for avoiding the Gods' gaze, of course, is because he needs to continue his journey and use a time machine that is somewhat sensitive to the Gods.
The reminder from the Female Titan still lingered in Ian's mind; he was a sufficiently meticulous Little Wizard. Only after confirming no divine presence could detect him did he remove the ring.
He casually took off an ancient bronze ring from his fingertip and gently tossed it to the ground. The moment it landed, a flash of silver light burst forth, the metal structure rapidly expanding and transforming into a peculiar-looking machine—a domed cabin, red hemispherical seat, with an antenna standing on top.
Look at it a few more times.
He still felt this was straight out of a Doraemon comic!
"Every time I see this thing, it feels absurd..." Ian couldn't help but grumble, "Claire's aesthetic is truly timeless, always so anime-like."
He sat on the time machine, gently pressed the start button, and as soon as he grabbed the control lever, a familiar recording began to play inside the cabin.
"Beep—welcome to the 'Titan Claire Custom Edition' time-travel device." A gentle yet teasing female voice began, she also had no idea how many recordings had been made.
"Congratulations, Ian, on the fruitful completion of your Greek journey!" Female Titan Claire's voice came through the time machine's speaker, her tone light and even tinged with a hint of anticipation.
"Hope you didn't forget the Epiphyllum Honey~"
This was clearly something Claire had emphasized.
Ian rolled his eyes.
"This is definitely just something you want to eat, isn't it? Pretending it's a mysterious mission item."
He was extremely suspicious of this point right now.
Of course.
The recording wouldn't respond to his grumbling, and Claire's voice continued to play.
"Next destination—Ancient Egypt, the era of Pharaohs and Priests ruling, where Gods walked along the Nile Riverbank."
"Good luck, don't let Anubis mistake you for an Undead and weigh your heart~" The Female Titan's tone became teasing, as she pointed out Ian's next destination.
Only without specifying the year.
The recording ended here, and the time machine returned to silence.
Ian sighed and pulled out the list Claire had given him, glancing at the three new Egyptian targets:
"Shard of the Eye of the Ra."
(The gemstone said to be formed from the lost eye of the Sun God Ra, containing the light of creation)
"Oar of the Nether River Ferry."
(The Holy Artifact used by Anubis to ferry the Undead, supposedly able to carve a boundary between life and death)
"Pharaoh's Curse Gold Foil."
(A golden leaf engraved with Pictographic Spells, containing the oldest Power of Word Spirits)
This time there truly were three items; it wasn't that Ian needed such an explanation in his mind, but rather that the list he received had precisely this explanation left by the Female Titan Claire.
As if afraid Ian didn't understand the nature of what she wanted him to find.
Truly underestimating the wisdom of a straight-A student.
"Eye of Ra? Oar? Gold foil?" Ian rubbed his forehead, "Just finished Greece, now to Ancient Egypt, feels like I'm playing through an endless series of side quests..."
He indeed had this feeling. Ian thought of Kratos, the madman who crawled out of the Netherworld, and wondered what "surprises" awaited him in Ancient Egypt.
History was truly a bit too fantastical.
He also wondered if the Female Titan was treating him like a Reincarnator—if the Raven told this guy many stories, then perhaps the story of "Infinite Horror" could be among them.
Ian loved reading this book.
Perhaps the Raven did too.
"Oh well, the sooner I finish, the sooner I can wrap up,"
Ian rubbed his forehead.
Then.
He gripped the time machine's control lever and input the space-time coordinates. The machine emitted a buzzing roar, the antenna on top began to rotate, and the surrounding space gradually warped.
Ripples like water waves appeared.
A blue energy halo instantly enveloped his entire body.
The surrounding space started to warp and spin.
"Wish you a smooth journey,"
Claire's voice rang out one last time, "Remember, be wary of those 'living legends.'"
As soon as she finished speaking, there was a flash of light.
Ian's figure completely vanished from the spot.
"Not Genshin! But initiate!" Silver light burst forth, and the time machine vanished from the spot, leaving behind only a faint spatial ripple, quickly dispersed by the wilderness wind.
When the light dissipated, what lay before Ian was no longer the wilderness of Greece, but an endless golden desert. The scorching sun baked the earth, in the distance, the waters of the Nile shimmered with a silver light, and the silhouette of pyramids stood on the horizon.
The air was filled with the scent of spices and the hot desert wind, from afar came the sound of camel bells, and faintly, ancient chants.
Ian jumped off the time machine, which automatically shrank, transforming back into a ring and returned to his hand. He squinted his silver-gray eyes, gazing at the city in the distance.
"Alright, Egyptian Gods..."
He murmured to himself.
"Hope you are easier to deal with than that bunch from Olympus." Ian also wondered if his arrival had been noticed by this place's native deities.
Perhaps describing them as native deities isn't quite accurate.
More like the current local rulers.
Ian became more meticulous.
If the Titans, the Nordic Gods, and the Greek Gods were all the work of aliens, Ian had every reason to suspect the Egyptian Gods were also inextricably linked to aliens.
Later historians have endlessly debated the true nature of the Egyptian Gods.
