Chapter 365 - Chapter 344: The False Protagonist

"So you... traveled through time from the future to get here?" Youyu confirmed.

"Yusei first traveled from the future to my era," Judai said. "I caught up with him midway, and that's how we ended up here to meet old... Youyu-sensei, you."

Youyu ignored his habit of constantly calling him "teacher" and continued, "And if the opponent time travels again, we can still catch him?"

"Yes," Yusei nodded confidently.

The first time he traveled through time to Judai's era under the guidance of the Red Dragon's power, he felt immense resistance and struggled quite a bit to catch up to Paradox. But from the second crossing onward, he clearly felt it becoming much easier.

He even managed to take Yuki Judai along, two grown men squeezing onto a D-Wheel with only one seat and traveling through time together.

It seems, even though from a modern perspective, time travel still exists only in imagination, many principles in the world may be universal—

—the first passage might be very tight and resistant, but after many times, once you're familiar, it naturally becomes smooth.

In fact, speaking of which, Yusei Particles are originally governed by the Red Dragon. If Paradox can use Yusei Particles to travel through time, then the Red Dragon can certainly do the same.

That's why Yusei can ride his D-Wheel from the future to this era.

"Moreover, before we came, we found out that history has already begun to be rewritten," Judai said. "Around this time, Kaiba Company is about to host a large event named the 'KC Grand Prix'.

According to the reports we found from the future, that future person seems to be planning something during the Grand Prix."

Paradox targeting the KC Grand Prix?

This diverges a bit from the original storyline.

Youyu frowned.

In the original script, Paradox's goal should have been to kill Pegasus to prevent the further development of Duel Monsters, right?

Then why attack the KC Grand Prix? Isn't this a tournament organized by Kaiba Company?

Could it be that this future person thought long and hard, considering that eliminating Pegasus was not enough, since with President Haima, the card addict, around, Duel Monsters would continue developing regardless?

So he plans to take out the President?

That is indeed... quite bold.

Hope this brave fellow is okay.

"Youyu... what do you think, what should we do next?" Judai sought Youyu's opinion.

Youyu was taken aback, somewhat surprised.

Why ask me? Aren't you supposed to be the future warriors?

Shouldn't there be a comprehensive plan at times like this?

And honestly, Judai, you are the big shot now!

Fudo Yusei is from the early stages of the 5DS plotline, just starting, still a rookie at this point.

However, Yuki Judai comes from the time after the GX conclusion, a truly max-level pro who can carry the whole team to victory!

Big shot pretending to be a newbie? Shouldn't we be listening to your commands, just waiting to win effortlessly?

Reflecting on this, Youyu faintly realized that Judai seemed a little... restrained when facing him?

Is it because the future self is a Duel Academy teacher?

Youyu felt that shouldn't be the case.

Who is Yuki Judai anyway?

Sleeping in class, being late, skipping classes, not paying attention, not doing homework...

...yet he was still admired and aspired to by all Duel Academy students, a hero senior, a model student.

This big shot, while in school, even hammered the headmaster, had tea and chatted freely with the principal. Would such a character feel restrained upon seeing a past teacher?

Clearly not possible.

Then could it be... because one is the Duel King?

Youyu pondered, and thought it didn't seem right either.

Muto Yugi is also the Duel King, and in the animation, Judai seemed quite enthusiastic and happy to meet Yugi, without any signs of awkwardness.

So could it be... the future self trained him well?

Seems like this possibility is higher indeed...

Seeing both "junior" characters staring directly here waiting for this "senior" to command, Youyu felt a bit clueless too.

If Paradox doesn't show up, there's temporarily nothing that can be done; if he doesn't use the Space-Time Device, then even with the Red Dragon's power on Yusei, it's impossible to sense his location.

Even though Youyu plans to warn the President that if the KC Grand Prix takes place, he should stay alert; however, he doesn't think this will be very helpful.

After all, Paradox is from the future, unknown how many years ahead, avoiding detection in this era is extremely easy.

But, regardless, he definitely can't leave these two big shots hanging outside; after thinking about it, Youyu decided to take them back with him first.

"If we can't decide, let's go back to my place first. My house is pretty big, has extra rooms, and even a Dueling Arena..."

Hmm... Seems like there's something odd mixed in...

"Alright, alright," Judai nodded. "Then we'll trouble you."

Yusei politely bowed slightly, "Sorry for the intrusion."

Luckily, Youyu wasn't far from home, so it was just a few steps away, and he returned with them.

Youyu expressed that you might not believe this, but today he went out for a walk and brought back a jellyfish and a crab, the kind that are particularly skilled in card dueling...

On the way back home, the spirit Kuriboh couldn't help but pop out, landing on Youyu's head and chirping "Kuri Kuri" a few times, seemingly very excited.

Then from beside Judai, a similarly fluffy, round, cute little creature flew out, adorned with angel-like pure white wings.

That was Winged Kuriboh, the spirit who had been accompanying Judai since the start of GX.

Winged Kuriboh flapped its wings and flew alongside Judai, chirping "Kuri Kuri" as well.

Kuriboh seemed surprised, chirping "Kuri" and floated over.

Winged Kuriboh approached as well: "Kuri Kuri!"

Kuriboh: "Kuri?" (Question.JPG)

Winged Kuriboh: "Kuri Kuri!" (Happy.JPG)

The two little creatures seemed to understand something through their brief exchange; Kuriboh excitedly flew back to Youyu's side, rubbed against his face enthusiastically, jumping up and down, chirping: "Kuri Kuri! Kuri Kuri!"

Youyu: "..."

Even if you say so, I don't understand what you're talking about...

Then Judai exchanged a wave of "communication" with his Winged Kuriboh, and then turned to Youyu with a smile, "My partner says that meeting you, Youyu-san, makes him very happy too!"

Youyu: "..."

At this moment, Youyu couldn't help but have a mental image comparing himself and Judai.

Turns out, even if he had a "Yu" in his name, he is still the fake protagonist. Not only unable to card spam, unable to manifest cards, but also unable to understand what Kuriboh is saying...
