By twelve fifty, Obito eagerly took Nohara Rin and Kakashi to the bulletin board to wait for the posting of the results.
"So many people." Obito looked at the bulletin board already crowded with people, a bit dumbfounded. He thought coming early would be better, but unexpectedly, there were even more people anxious to see the results than him.
"We can wait here; after all, this is an exam related to promotion, and everyone is very enthusiastic." Nohara Rin said with a smile.
Obito nodded and stood with Nohara Rin, not forcing his way in.
"Make way." A few minutes later, two ninjas wearing Chunin waistcoats came over.
The semicircle of people around the bulletin board immediately parted, making room for the examiners to post the results.
"Phew, that was close. Just got seventy-one points; a little more wrong, and I would have failed." Someone sighed with relief.
"You idiot, I even gave you the answers, and you only got sixty-seven. Now you're done for; didn't even pass the first round on your first try." Another person commented with exasperation after checking the results.
Everyone at the bulletin board was frantically searching for their names and scores.
Standing nearby, Kakashi calmly watched the frantic crowd. This was no surprise to him—those anxious about their results generally didn't do well. If they were as confident as he was about passing, they wouldn't be in such a hurry to see the results.
"Let me through." Hearing the discussions about the scores, Obito used brute force to push his way in.
He wasn't worried about failing; he just wanted to see his score and then rub it in Kakashi's face.
Obito entered Full Concentration Breathing mode and, using his physical advantage, squeezed his way in.
Obito looked toward the top and immediately saw Kakashi's three-digit score at the forefront.
Obito ignored Kakashi's score and began searching downward for his own score.
"Rin, you're amazing, eighty-eight points, eighteen points above passing." Obito first noticed Nohara Rin's score.
"So did you pass?" Kakashi asked.
He wasn't worried about Nohara Rin's score; the only flaw in their team's theoretical exam was Obito.
"Kakashi, come see." Obito found his score, eyes widening, and didn't directly answer Kakashi's question but called Kakashi in.
By this time, the initial crowd had finished looking at the results, so there were fewer people, and Kakashi easily walked up beside Obito.
"Eighty points! Kakashi, say something!" Obito excitedly pointed at his name and said.
Following Obito's finger, Kakashi saw Obito's score; it was indeed eighty points.
Kakashi was a bit surprised. Although eighty wasn't an exceptional score, Obito getting eighty was as rare as someone who usually barely scrapes by getting a perfect score.
Obito's smile was immensely proud; this was an unprecedented high score for him.
"What do you want me to say? Scoring eighty is just a matter of missing two questions, isn't it?" Kakashi replied flatly.
Obito was momentarily speechless. Perfect-score Kakashi clearly did all ten questions flawlessly, while Obito needed only to miss two questions to get eighty.
"Obito is really impressive; last time, he didn't even reach fifty in the Ninja Academy's exam, and this time he actually scored eighty. He must have studied diligently for a long time." Nohara Rin gently praised.
"Hehe, it's okay. Not as diligent as you imagine." Hearing Nohara Rin's praise, Obito grinned again.
At this moment, Might Guy and Asuma also came over to check the results.
"Great, everyone passed!" Might Guy gave a thumbs up to Shiranui Genma and Ebisu.
"Same here." Asuma said after finishing checking.
"Let's work together to become Chunin!" Obito excitedly punched the air. They were all friends and it was their first time participating in the Chunin Examination.
"How amusing. Is the Konoha Chunin Exam just playing house? All working hard together." Zabuza sneered as he passed by.
"Who knows, maybe it is." A companion next to Zabuza shrugged and replied.
"Hey, what do you mean by that?" Asuma asked, looking displeased upon hearing their conversation.
Such words simultaneously dismissed both them and Konoha, making Asuma somewhat unable to tolerate it.
"Literally." Zabuza replied indifferently.
He found these Konoha ninjas annoying. Why was it that in Hidden Mist they had to kill each other from the start at school, while Konoha ninjas were so harmonious?
"You better take back what you said." Obito stood beside Asuma, addressing Zabuza.
Faced with such an arrogant ninja from another village, even as an invited participant in the Chunin Exam, Obito wouldn't be polite to him.
"Zabuza, Kurozawa, don't cause any trouble." Hoshigaki Kisame said calmly upon seeing this.
If it were outside Konoha Village, he wouldn't mind competing with these Konoha ninjas, but within Konoha Village, he thought it was better not to. They were here on a mission to participate in the Chunin Exam.
After speaking, Hoshigaki Kisame took the lead and left, heading to the location of the second exam explanation.
Zabuza glanced at Hoshigaki Kisame and followed.
He and Hoshigaki Kisame were originally not in the same team, but because of this Chunin Examination, they formed a temporary team.
Hoshigaki Kisame was assigned as the captain, but Zabuza listened to him not because he was the captain, but because Hoshigaki Kisame was very strong. Even though he was only two years older, he felt like those Hidden Mist Jonin.
"What a bunch of rude guys. If we fight them in the exam later, I'll definitely teach them a lesson," Obito said, waving his fist.
Having already defeated many Chunin in direct combat, Obito believed he had the strength to dominate in this exam.
"Don't underestimate them. It's hard to say about the others, but that shark-faced guy is definitely not weak," Kakashi reminded.
Though he couldn't use Perception Ninjutsu, the experienced Kakashi keenly sensed that Hoshigaki Kisame was not someone ordinary, his aura was different from that of an ordinary ninja.
"I admit I'm a bit weaker than you in the theoretical exam, but as long as it's combat, I definitely have no issues," Obito said confidently.
"Haha, such confidence! No wonder you're Obito!" Might Guy flashed his bright white teeth and gave Obito a thumbs up.
"This guy..." Kakashi shook his head, feeling that Obito might suffer due to overconfidence.
With Obito's strength, dealing with regular Genin wouldn't be a problem, but this was a Chunin Examination held jointly by two Great Ninja Villages; Genin here might not be ordinary Genin.
Kakashi felt he might not be the only exception. Maybe the Hidden Mist also had young Chunin participating in this Chunin Examination.
If the opponents were such people, Kakashi didn't think Obito would win easily.
The group arrived at a large open field beside the Ninja Academy's teaching building.
After waiting for about half an hour, when all the qualified students had arrived, Mokgetsu, along with two Chunins, walked to the front of the students.
"I am Habu Mokgetsu, the chief examiner for the second exam." Mokgetsu began with a brief self-introduction.
"Teacher Mokgetsu!" Upon seeing Mokgetsu, Obito was delighted and waved to him.
"Damn it, it's that guy who ate my strawberry ice cream!" Terumi Mei glared at Mokgetsu, silently engraving the name Habu Mokgetsu in her mind.
Then Terumi Mei glanced at Obito again, memorizing his appearance to give him a lesson during the exam if they met.
"Although it's not good to bully fools, your teacher ate my ice cream," Terumi Mei thought more bitterly, imagining how happy she would have been if she could have eaten two servings of strawberry ice cream that day.
Mokgetsu smiled in response to Obito and then continued, "Before I announce the rules, you must first sign a consent form."
After Mokgetsu finished speaking, the two Chunins began distributing the consent forms, one for each examinee.
"Because in this exam you might get injured or even die."
Essentially, it was a life-and-death agreement. Once signed, every examinee could use any means to attack opponents during this exam, and killing an opponent would incur no responsibility.
"You can choose not to sign, but if one person doesn't sign, it will count as the entire team forfeiting." Mokgetsu paused, waiting for the students to sign the consent forms.
"We actually have to sign a real consent form, it feels so dangerous."
"Yeah, I was just consulting senior the other day, and they didn't mention it, maybe this exam is a bit special?"
Some Genin participating in the Chunin Examination for the first time started discussing.
"Isn't this just like real combat?" Obito scratched his head after hearing it.
He didn't feel much about it, thinking it just removed the restrictions on the exam's combat.
"Asuma, will you sign?" Namiashi Raido asked Asuma.
"Of course, if I was afraid of getting hurt, I wouldn't be a ninja." Without a hint of hesitation, Asuma signed the consent form.
Immediately afterward, Yuhi Kurenai also signed without hesitation.
Within minutes, all the students signed the consent form, with no one choosing to opt-out.
They were ninjas who graduated from the Ninja Academy, and even the most gentle Ninja Academy was a place that taught killing. They were particularly courageous when it came to life and death.
Then Mokgetsu, without further ado, took out a map of the Forest of Death and said:
"This will be the venue for your second exam, a circular area surrounded by iron fencing. The straight-line distance from the iron fence to the Central Tower is about ten kilometers, and inside are many poisonous creatures and beasts."
After introducing the venue, Mokgetsu took out two Scrolls, one white and one dark.
"Each of your teams will receive an initial Scroll, which could be a Heaven Scroll or an Earth Scroll, but regardless of which Scroll you receive, you need to gather both kinds of Scrolls and reach the Central Tower to complete the exam."
"You have a total of five days. If you can't gather the Heaven and Earth Scrolls and reach the Central Tower within five days, you'll be eliminated."
