"Bold!"
"Insolent!"
Yugen, dressed in the limited "Revolver" skin, had just stepped in, and the Egyptian soldiers inside began to reprimand him harshly.
"To dare to trespass into the Divine Hall, disturbing the Pharaoh's rest!"
"Judgment! There must be judgment!"
Looking at the cries of these Ancient Egyptian soldiers, Yugen couldn't help but find it amusing, even wanting to say—
—Come on, your Great Egypt has already fallen.
What judgment are you talking about?
The soldiers all held spears and charged forward, glaring at Yugen with animosity. But Yugen could sense that despite being resurrected together with their master, the dark power within them was quite weak, without any special qualities.
Surrounded by spears, he neither dodged nor minded, acting as if he didn't see these people at all, directly addressing the awakened Pharaoh Abidos III.
"I heard the undefeated Pharaoh awoke across three thousand years to seek a true warrior. And now a challenge has arrived; surely, you won't avoid the fight?"
An Egyptian minister felt only more enraged seeing someone speak directly to the Pharaoh, bypassing everyone else: "Bold! Do you think anyone can challenge the Pharaoh..."
But before he finished, the Pharaoh sharply interrupted: "Stand down."
"Yes, Lord Pharaoh."
The minister dared not speak more, bowed his head, and retreated to the side.
The Pharaoh raised his hand with a gesture. The remaining soldiers hurriedly stood down, not daring to speak.
"Indeed, I awakened to find strong warriors,"
The Pharaoh stepped forward, slowly lifting the Duel Disc. His Duel Disc gleamed like gold, reflecting a dazzling sheen.
"But only strong warriors can face me," the Pharaoh declared sharply, "If you fail to satisfy me, then accompany me to eternal slumber in the tomb."
"So it's the legendary tomb accompaniment, alright."
Yugen chuckled, unfolding his Duel Disc.
"But according to the rules of the Dark Game, if I win, might I trouble Your Majesty for some minor assistance?"
The soldiers began to stir again: "You dare to threaten the Pharaoh..."
But once more, Abidos III waved his hand to interrupt.
"Alright, I promise you," he nodded, "I am a Pharaoh, but also a Duelist. Since it's a duel, there must be rules. Come on."
"Duel!" x2
[Yugen, LP 4000]
[Pharaoh, LP 4000]
Tania didn't follow into the depths of the hall but observed from the entrance.
"Ancient Egypt is acclaimed as the Duel God and King."
Tania looked at Yugen's back.
"Heh, with a god as your opponent, can you perform as freely as you just did?"
"My turn, draw." The Pharaoh took the lead, drawing a card.
"Activate the Magic Card 'Pot of Greed', draw two cards from the deck."
The Pharaoh drew two cards.
"Then cover a monster in face-down defense position."
A simple maneuver. But the Pharaoh slowly raised his head, as if cold rays emanated from the golden mask.
"From this moment, the countdown to your doom has begun," the Pharaoh said coldly, slowly drawing two cards from his hand, "This card will mark the beginning of your defeat.
Laying two cards, the turn ends."
Two cards were laid on his field.
"Is that so, then I really should start getting nervous. My turn, draw."
Yugen drew a card.
In fact, what Abidos III had covered, he could roughly guess.
Ten out of ten chances, it's the Continuous Trap "First Coffin".
From the words and memories shared when this Pharaoh dueled with Judai, it was clear that he had used the same tactics his whole life, never changing his three tricks.
Activate the Continuous Trap "First Coffin", then at the opponent's end phase, activate Continuous Magic "Second Coffin" from the deck, then at the next opponent's end phase, activate Continuous Magic "Third Coffin".
When the three coffins are gathered, his ace, the 2500 Attack Power "Pharaoh's Soul", is Special Summoned from the deck.
Of course, at first glance, it's a deck that's remarkably stuck, with astonishingly low operating efficiency, and the elaborate terminal summoned appears to have little to no use.
Yet Lord Pharaoh always believed his strategy was invincible because none of his opponents escaped being crushed by the invincible Pharaoh's Soul.
But you say this Pharaoh's weak... it seems unlikely.
With such a sticky deck, he played cards all his life without ever drawing a blank on the first coffin or drawing the three coffins in the wrong sequence. Without some Destiny Power fundamentals, most people wouldn't master this.
Well, knowing Lord Pharaoh's unchanged three tricks over three thousand years makes things considerably easier.
"Activate the Magic Card 'Spider Silk', reclaiming a card sent to the graveyard one round ago. I reclaim 'Pot of Greed,'" Yugen said, "and then activate the Magic Card 'Pot of Greed', draw two cards from the deck."
"Then Normal Summon 'Artificial Human - Telekinesis Plug-In'."
[Artificial Human - Telekinesis Plug-In, Defense Power 2000]
"Telekinesis Plug-In's effect, sacrifice itself, add an Artificial Monster from the deck to the hand."
Yugen drew the monster card that popped out of the deck.
"Add 'Artificial Human - Telekinesis Intimidator' to the hand from the deck.
And afterward, scan all covering cards in the opponent's Magic Trap Zone."
"You want to see my backfield?" The Pharaoh sneered.
Countless electrical plug connectors flew behind like chaotic hair, the Artificial Monster sacrificed itself, and then floated ghostly on the field, its eyes emitting scanning beams.
Sure enough, among the two covered cards, one was the Continuous Trap "First Coffin".
The other was the Trap Card "Divine Protective Shield - Reflective Mirror Force."
"Oh, you actually have Reflection Mirror Power," Yugen teased with a smile, "Pharaohs have similar card choices." After all, this thing won its fame initially in Atom's hands.
"Seeing my backfield is like invading the sacred and inviolable Royal Family Sanctuary," the Pharaoh said gloomily, "It must come at a price."
"Then I'll be waiting," Yugen said, "Telekinesis Plug-In's follow-up effect. From the covered cards confirmed by this card's trap scan, if there's a trap card among them, Special Summon as many 'Artificial Human' monsters from the hand as the number of traps."
"Both of my covered cards are traps..."
"Indeed, therefore I can Special Summon up to two Artificial Humans from my hand... well, I only have one in hand.
Then I'll summon this guy."
Yugen waved his hand.
"Artificial Human - Telekinesis Intimidator, Summon!"
Electricity crackled, and the mech's eyes flashed red. The mechanical Artificial Human descended with authority, landing in the Monster Zone in front of Yugen.
[Artificial Human - Telekinesis Intimidator, Attack Power 2400]
"Attack the monster in face-down defense."
Reappearing on the field, the Artificial Human seized the chance to showcase, extending its right palm, launching a telekinetic light sphere toward the covered monster.
Soga, a monster obviously a modern industrial creation, naturally wasn't something a king from three thousand years ago had seen. Abidos was instantly surprised.
"Despite seeing I had Reflection Mirror Power, you still attack?"
The Pharaoh sensed a trick but given the moment's rapid choice felt there was no alternative.
"Interesting, then I shall accept your challenge!" the Pharaoh shouted, "Activate Trap 'Divine Protective Shield - Reflective Mirror Force'!
During the opponent's attack declaration, destroy all attack position monsters on the opponent's field!"
"Apologies, Your Majesty, but it won't happen."
Yugen chuckled.
"When Telekinesis Intimidator is present on the field, neither side can activate any Trap Cards, and all Trap effects become null."
The Pharaoh: "!"
Modern technology, Your Majesty.
The era has changed.
