Chapter 491 - Chapter 489: Who’s the Godson Here?

Neville always thought Harry only had his aunt and uncle, and he mentioned before that those two were very mean to him, even refusing to sign his permission slip for Hogsmeade.

Now suddenly hearing that Harry has a godfather, the shock brought by the news was much greater than Kael appearing in the Gryffindor Common Room.

"You have a godfather?" Neville said in surprise, "How come we've never heard you mention it before."

"I just found out myself," Harry said with a smile, stuffing candies into Neville's pocket.

Before, there was no choice because of Sirius's status, he could only keep this to himself and not tell anyone.

But now it's different, Sirius was declared innocent in the retrial, and he can finally share this good news openly with everyone.

However, Harry didn't lose his composure, since he only heard about it and hadn't seen the newspaper and letter himself, so he deliberately didn't mention Sirius's name.

Watching Harry so excited, Hermione also felt happy for him; she knew how long Harry had waited for this day.

But... she bowed her head, as if thinking of something.

Soon, Harry returned, putting the half-full candy bucket on the table, then blankly stared out the window, every time an owl flew past, he'd unconsciously stand up, but when they flew away his expression turned disappointed.

"Don't you all find it strange?" Hermione suddenly asked.

"What's strange?" Harry still stared at the window, absent-mindedly replying.

"Kael, of course," Hermione said.

Ron fiddled with his new quill, "What's wrong with him?"

"Haven't you noticed?" Hermione gave them a disdainful look, "How did Kael know Sirius was acquitted?"

"Of course through the newspaper," Ron said as if it was obvious, "Didn't he say? Because of this, the Daily Prophet urgently printed an extra issue."

"What about these things then!"

Hermione pointed to the Golden Cauldron on the table. "It's obvious Sirius bought this in Diagon Alley, have you thought about it, if he wanted to give it to Harry, why not let the owl send it directly, but instead ask Kael to help..."

Ron raised his head, Harry no longer continued to watch the window.

That's right, they only then realized, if it was meant for Harry, why ask Kael to deliver it.

Could it be Sirius messed up the address? But clearly, they're all at Hogwarts.

"Don't you understand yet?" Hermione looked at the two puzzled faces, annoyed as she closed her work, "It's simple, I dare say Kael was with Sirius at the time, he was also in Diagon Alley!"

"What?" Ron said in disbelief, "But that's impossible... I mean, there's no Hogwarts Express on weekends, how did he go back."

"There might be some other way," Hermione said, "Also, don't you remember, during lunch today, Professor Dumbledore called Kael away from the Auditorium, only now has he returned."

"You mean..." Harry frowned, "He already knew about Sirius's retrial at that time and went outside the school to find him?"

"I think, yes..."

The three fell into silence immediately, not understanding why Dumbledore would tell Kael about this.

Harry felt a bit blocked; he's Sirius's godson, yet he's the last to know...

"Ouch."

Lost in thought, Harry suddenly felt a stabbing pain on his hand, and on looking down, he saw an owl the size of a Bludger pecking his hand, a letter beside it.

"Oh, Sirius wrote a letter!" he exclaimed excitedly, tearing the envelope open in a few moves.

Hermione and Ron also crowded over.

On the other side, the news of Sirius Black being acquitted was swiftly spread through Hogwarts via the Daily Prophet; students who subscribed to the paper were the first to share the news with others, and now everyone was talking about it, even the Triwizard Tournament was temporarily set aside.

Spending twelve years in Azkaban just waiting for a chance for revenge, is there an experience more legendary than this?

In Hogwarts, it was mostly teens, in their most spirited time, loving nothing more than such stories.

By dinner, nearly every student in the Auditorium was discussing this, Fred and George were unconcerned about any boxes now, curiously probing Harry for news.

Harry, too excited after receiving the letter, accidentally let the information slip, now nearly everyone in Gryffindor knows Sirius is his godfather.

Everyone was eager to learn some extra details not found in the newspaper from him.

Others, unable to squeeze in, could only speculate.

"I dare say Blake must have done it on purpose..." Mikel at the Hufflepuff long table confidently declared, "He'd rather give up his freedom and voluntarily be locked up in Azkaban just to kill those Death Eaters inside."

"That sounds hard," someone said, "With Dementors around, even Blake can't just kill Death Eaters locked inside, right?"

"That's why it took twelve years," Mikel said, "And don't forget, he's the first person to successfully escape from there, surely has a way to deal with Dementors."

His statement surprisingly gained quite a lot of agreement.

If he can escape, surely seems he must have a way to deal with Dementors... sounds reasonable.

"After killing all the Death Eaters, then coming out to find the real culprit, clear his name... admit it, he really is remarkable."

Mikel continued, his eyes constantly flashing with light, "If Professor Dumbledore could invite him to be the Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts, that would be great.

"Of course, I'm not saying Professor Moody isn't good, I mean by next year..."

The curse on Hogwarts's Professor of Defense Against Dark Arts was deeply ingrained in people's minds, changing five professors in five years, not a single one was retained consecutively.

So even with a Legendary Auror, there's not much hope held... Lockhart's fame is similar to Moody's, and he still ended up failing, didn't he also stumble?

The students were noisily discussing Sirius Black's affairs, and it was similar at the staff table.

Dumbledore's confidentiality was quite thorough, no one had leaked a word, apart from a select few, most professors only learned about this today.

Hagrid had been dazed for half an hour holding a newspaper.

He had cursed Sirius Black quite a bit before, and more than once said if he caught Blake, he'd beat him up so thoroughly even yesterday's dinner would come out, or else he'd be a Flobberworm.

But now suddenly everything has reversed, Blake was innocent, the real betrayer was someone else.

Now he certainly can't make Blake spit out yesterday's dinner, but he doesn't want to be a Flobberworm.

"What should I do now..." Hagrid felt his mind a bit muddled.
