I darkened my expression and directed every ounce of it at him.
Maggie would have moved, but I commanded against it mentally.
Including Kassie, who was in the backyard. All of them were to stay put wherever they were.
He stared down at me from his height. His red eyes studied every bit of my body with a quiet thoroughness that made my skin crawl.
"You're one strong lad, aren't you. Makes me curious, if you happen to be like me then..."
He turned his gaze to Maggie, who simply leaned on one hand and stared back at him with a bored expression.
Then he fixed his eyes on me again.
"Who the fuck are you?" I asked, venom lacing every word.
He tapped his cane on the ground once more and pointed to himself. "Me? I'm surprised you don't even know. People usually know me around here just from seeing, so that means you must be new."
I was silent for a moment, squeezing my face.
"Don't know, don't care..."
"You're an ignorant one after all."
A small smile was etched on his face.
