Chapter 34 - Chapter 12: Still Not an Oracle

Su Ming and Cindy both frowned, could it be that Batwoman has already gone to kill the Sea Queen?

"Where did she go?" Cindy asked again. If it's not too far, maybe we can still catch up.

"I don't know... that night she came to our house in the middle of the night to talk to dad, but when I woke up, I only heard the last part." Barbara pressed her temples, trying hard to recall: "She said she was leaving Gotham for a while, because there was some danger, she wanted to take us away, but we refused, so she left alone. Perhaps the first part of the conversation mentioned where she was going, but only my dad knows."

Cindy leaned back in her chair, looking at Su Ming. He's the one who said this world is dangerous, so he should know what's going on.

Su Ming was also at a loss for a moment, Batwoman somehow knew there was danger ahead of time, what could make even Batman avoid? Does she know about this Multiverse event? But residing in the Dark Multiverse, she has no reason to know.

The Men in Black appearing this time want to kidnap Gordon and Barbara, what kind of move is this? Aside from being Batman's ally, Gordon doesn't seem to have anything special.

The two women looked at him, making Su Ming feel immense pressure, especially Barbara, who seemed on the verge of tears.

"What have you done in the past? After determining the phone signal location?" He brought the computer closer to Barbara, hoping she might have some ideas.

"No, nothing, I always just did it for fun, and it ended there."

Barbara's expression didn't look like she was lying, it seems this world's Oracle hasn't matured like in other worlds.

"Listen to me, start hacking into Gotham City's traffic system now, retrieve surveillance footage from this area, start from when the phone stopped moving."

"Okay!"

Barbara secretly wiped her tears, adjusted her glasses, and began rewriting the address code of the hacking program, connecting to the server backend of the transportation department.

As long as there are still ideas, knowing how to investigate is good.

A few minutes later, she successfully obtained surveillance of the relevant road, but nothing was unusual, just a quiet rainy scene with no pedestrians on the streets, let alone cars.

She looked at Su Ming for help.

"The surveillance was tampered with, using disruptors and some instruments, they can access the surveillance and repeatedly play pre-recorded scenes." Su Ming leaned closer to the screen, he could smell a sweet scent on Barbara: "This rain is too light, it should have been recorded around 10:30, and then kept replaying, rewind some to see if there's anything."

Barbara adjusted the time to around 10:30 as instructed, and the three of them quietly watched the screen.

Suddenly, the image shook.

"That's it, stop." Su Ming shouted: "Slow it down and play those three seconds again."

However, the result disappointed them. The recording only captured the shadow of a black glove passing by, with no information to identify anyone.

"Sigh... no choice, it seems we have to personally visit the scene." Cindy picked up the helmet on the table, patted Barbara's shoulder, and was about to leave.

Su Ming had no other choice either, to know Batwoman's possible whereabouts, they must find Gordon, he's their only lead now.

"Take me with you!" Barbara didn't know where she got the courage, she grabbed Cindy's hand and pleaded: "I can help you, like just now, I want to save him."

"No, you can hide in the arsenal and wait until daylight, it'll be safe when the police come back for their shift."

Cindy immediately refused, it's already hard to move in the storm, bringing along a disabled person in a wheelchair would just be a burden.

But Su Ming didn't see it that way, not to mention Oracle's computer skills, if they rescued Gordon, would he trust Deathstroke's words? And if Barbara was present then, wouldn't it be easier to gain trust?

"I think we can take her, after all, she's still not out of danger, even if she hides in the arsenal, what if the Men in Black comes again?"

"She's not like us, she can't even shoot a gun, how can she withstand an attack?" Su Ming persuaded Cindy, while indicating that the surrounding police were useless, and the daytime police were just as unreliable: "If we rescue Gordon but Barbara is captured, we'd have to accompany Gordon to rescue her, and it would never end. We have limited time."

When Barbara wanted to correct that she actually could shoot, Su Ming frantically gestured, and she held back.

Cindy thought for a moment, sighed, she didn't know why she always got persuaded by Su Ming.

"Alright, you can come, but don't expect me to push your wheelchair."

Despite saying that, Cindy put on her helmet and changed her mind.

Su Ming shrugged at Barbara, also put on his helmet, and pulled a blue police raincoat from behind the door to throw to her: "Okay, bring your computer and wireless card, let's go find a car outside."
