Chapter 7 - Job hunting

After what seemed like a long night, Ariana and Yvonne returned to the hotel.

"So what did you think? You had fun right?" Yvonne asked as they both lay on the bed.

Ariana wasn't sure of what to say. The bachelorette party was lively and great but she also remembered she was harassed earlier also.

"The party was great" she answered honestly.

"I told you!" Yvonne giggled.

"So what are you going to do now?" She asked.

Ariana paused to think for a moment "I'd return home tomorrow. I guess I'd just have to teach my sister everything she needs to know. At least then I can rest assured that under my guidance the company won't go into ruins. Besides, regardless of everything she's smart so I think with time she would be able to do well without my help".

Yvonne face palmed.

"I'm not asking about the company Ari! I'm asking about you, think about yourself for once!. What will you do now? Because you technically don't have a job. I know you're not broke but you get my point!" Yvonne explained with a concerned expression on her face.

Ariana had always done what pleased her parents, following their every order and making sure everyone was happy with the decisions she took. Never really thinking about herself, not even once.

Ariana sighed as she began to realize that there was truth in Yvonne's words. "I haven't really thought of what I'm going to do. I'd want to have a business of my own but for now I guess I'd look for a job around or something. Everything right now is just so overwhelming" she said and Yvonne immediately wrapped her up in a hug.

Ariana quickly pulled away from the hug and dashed to the bathroom. Yvonne quickly followed her behind just to see her best friend over the toilet throwing up. She walked up to her and helped hold her hair behind.

After she minutes, Ariana washed up and quickly lay on the bed. "The alcohol got you good but you aren't really a lightweight though from what I observed" Yvonne said.

"Feeling better?" She questioned and Ariana nodded.

"I wanted to ask. How did you know what was going on in the conference room earlier?" Ariana asked.

"Oh that...your father had asked me to get him coffee. So after I gave it to him, I just stayed by a corner just incase he wanted anything else. So the meeting started and that's when I caught on what was going on. I was pretty sure everyone forgot I was still in the room so they just went on and on till I found a moment and left" Yvonne explained.

"I don't even know what to say. Thank you for telling me this". Ariana said placing a hand on a friend's.

"Well that's in the past. Now we have to look for a job for you" Yvonne said.

"Agreed".

That same night in a large mansion designed to perfection with an ethereal mixture of medieval and modern architecture, Azaiah Hawthrone sat in front of the fire place, watching as the wood in it burnt with a satisfying crackling sound. The fire dancing in his green eyes.

"Boss are you sure about her? I mean you just met her. What if she's completely different from what you saw tonight?".

"I highly doubt she'd be different. You saw those eyes. They're pure" Azaiah said with his eyes still focusing on the fire.

The man beside him decided not to say a word anymore. Not just because his boss was bullheaded but even in his bullheadedness, his boss' intuition was right most of the time. So he decided to drop the topic.

The sun was up and was shinning magnificently when Ariana woke up. She quickly jolted out of the bed and dashed to the bathroom thinking she had to go to work early before realization hit her. "I forgot for that slight moment that I am now a jobless person" she said to herself as she forced herself to laugh.

Her brain was already used to the waking up early just to prepare for work. She quickly took her bath and went on to wake Yvonne up. "Good morning" she said as she watched her friend's eyes flutter open. "Good morning Ari" Yvonne's voice came out raspy. "Bad breath alert" Ariana joked around and Yvonne quickly replied "Like you didn't have one too when you woke up". She lightly punched Ariana before standing up to freshen up.

They both prepared and checked out of the hotel. Yvonne offered to drive because Ariana had a banging headache.

"So where am I taking you? Home or your fiancé's house?" Yvonne asked turning to Ariana who was in the passenger seat.

"Home. I need to get some of my things because I'll be job hunting today. Yayyy, I'm so excited" Ariana's sarcasm was very evident.

"You don't really need to worry though, you're smart and I'm sure any where you work they'd be lucky to have you".

"Thanks Yvonne" Ariana smiled.

Ariana had majored in business administration in her University and Human Resource management during her Masters program as her parents had asked of her. Though it was her parents request, it was still beneficial to her. With such qualifications, it was possible to land a good job.

But in life, there are several ups and downs and things don't always go as planned and Ariana knew this.

Due to their families status and her drop from being the company's president, the media would call her "incompetent" and she was "overthrown" by her smarter sister.

Despite it being a lie, she knew the topic wasn't the kind that the media would drop easily.
