Chapter 5 - A Dreamer

In an autumn breeze, the chilly wind spiked the skin with its soothing chilly touch. Ren or so he was called by his new name after being reborn into a new lifetime. He was training still until he reached 7 years old.

This time, he was training in sword and he wanted to master the path of a Warrior. He was a weapon master in the past when they battled the Demon god. Such weakling though was the last man standing before such great enemy. Specifically the Prime evils. As the story goes, they have the power to corrupt the minds of their vanquishers. And only to be reborn as an evil entity. A walking corpse that was under the rule of their grasp.

The wind caressed his gentle supple cheeks that were rubbing his sword that was given as a gift from his father. His Demon Slayer Sword. Yes, he was a Warrior or sword fanatic and dreamt of being a Warrior in the next life. He has a life in the past and was a trash. Only to be beheaded by a demon god.

He was watching the warriors battling in tournaments in the Warriors Academy and has piqued his interest. It gave him a great idea. Mage academy tournaments were all cool and flashy though.

His time was getting near and was 7 years old by now. He promised that in the next life, with his rebirth, he would master the Warrior path. A burning passion has once ignited and he set forth his new goal. And so, he died a trash's death and he was born anew into a small village in the countryside. A place which has numerous monster attacks per year as they were in the border of human territory and closest to the demon kingdom. It was also the first one to get attacked by demons in case the demon kingdom will attack them.

The time had come when he was able to take a peek at his father practicing outside. He was swinging a sword! That's it! It must be a sign that he was a warrior and not a mage!

As far as Ren was concerned, he needed to at least have a parent of warriors. His mind was panicking in the last weeks if his parents were in mage paths. He would be sent to the Mage Academy. The horror! At least his father was a Warrior and his mother was a Mage. Upon his discovery, his father was a swordsman and his mother was a Healer. Though for him, if he would be able to at least awaken, he did not know if he would be a warrior or mage. But he preferred to be a warrior and magic class was only a second choice.

And so, his wings were fluttering in the wind when he knew that his father was a Swordsman! Like a free bird, his body felt like soaring in the skies as he embraced his pillows. Well, what could go wrong?

As far as Ren would think about it, he couldn't neglect the fact that he still needed to be prepared for the worst. He still could not neglect his Mage dreams and he could still become a mage in case he will awaken a mage class.

The Mage skill categories were: Illusion arts, Ethereal arts, Elemental arts, Arcane arts, Dark arts, Holy arts, Conjuration arts, Telekinetic arts, Summoner and Shapeshifter arts, and Spatial arts. All in all, 9 arts.

Now, what made Ren curious was the fact that the Warrior path has many categories or branches. From Swordsman, Berserker, Guardian, Paladin, Lifestealer, Brawler, Ranger, and Rogue.

And his father's class was Swordsman so he might learn that first.

His father Rey was outside and he watched him in his practice.

With it, he trained in the grassy hills while swinging his sword and using mana circulation to his vacant time on the bottom of the apple tree for 2 years. Doing it until he was tired and slept while resting his back on its trunk. He woke up and then squinted his eyes.

Looking at it, his friends Vulcan, Jin, Hecate, and Bell were waving at him by the distance.

"Hey Ren! How is your training!?" Bell shouted with a loud voice.

"Ren! Wave back if you can hear us!" Vulcan shouted while waving at him

"Hey, wake up!" Jin shouted with his hands on his cheeks.

"The Village is under attack!" Bell shouted.

He was squinting his eyes and was still dazed.

"Huh!?" Ren pondered.

"The village is under attack and your father is battling ogres!" Jin added.

"Wait, I have to help! Let's go!" Ren nearly panicked. He must join in to the fight.

"Dad, please stay alive by then." Ren added.

They dashed downhill towards the village and saw the smoke rising from the village' direction. They also saw some villagers fighting.

"The ogre's numbers? How much are they?" Asked Ren.

"Um, About twenty plus." Said Hecate replied.

"Your father killed almost seventy plus. It meant that they were a total of a hundred strong. Though he was in his limit. He was an arrow in his last flight." Hecate said to him.

"Hmm, me and my father is not enough. Though there's still a chance." Ren concluded.

Meanwhile, his father was panting and bloody on his forehead. His grandfather was away and so they were in such a predicament. If his grandpa was here then this would not happen.

His mother was healing the injured and was about to run out of mana. The ogres tend to have fun while they were slaughtering the villagers and it made Rey to bite his lips.

He used wind blade but it was just blocked by the two handed blunt weapon of the ogre.

He used flash step and then draw slash to one and it was cleaved in half. Blood sprinkled the ground and his father was able to pin down one.

But, three immediately attacked in unison. Making him block their attacks helplessly. He was blocking though the heavy weight of the weapon of the enemies were able to disarm him. His hands were numb and sore. One hit and his bones were all shattered.

"Father!" Ren shouted as they arrived.
