Soon, he reached the edge of the forest, and I felt a strong urge to stop him and keep him as a pet. I don't know why, but I thought it might be better to let him go. Maybe his fate wasn't meant to be with me, so with a heavy heart, I watched him head straight into the woods. Just before entering, he looked back at me as if to thank me for the food. He jumped up and down, and I waved goodbye to him.
With that, we parted ways. My first monster friend went off, and perhaps he was just a mindless slime, but I will remember him and this day as the day I made a friend with a slime in another world's dungeon.
As I reflected on this moment, I heard the system's voice in my mind: "Host, what was that creature?"
Vik: "System, didn't you know? It's the classic slime from fantasy worlds, and my first monster friend."
System: "I don't know what you're talking about. This world, or any world I know, doesn't have a creature called slime."
Hearing the system's words, I looked back at the forest, trying to spot any traces of the slime, but I found nothing. I even flew over there, searching the entire forest to find that slime, but again, there was nothing. Finally, accepting defeat, I looked at the sky and laughed, "It was really a good day."
Meanwhile, in the Goblin city, Lu Xiaoran sat on a pile of rubble, making a small chair out of ice while looking ahead. The large goblin castle had turned to ruins due to the aftermath of the fight between Roman and the goblin king.
The goblin king was in a bad state, with almost every bone in his body broken. Roman had ripped off his upper garments, revealing his bare chest and well-developed muscles. If someone had seen this scene, they might have mistaken Roman for the monster and the goblin king for the victim. This was due to Roman's maniacal grin as he continued to punch the goblin king, while the goblin king desperately tried to escape. Almost all the guards in the goblin castle had fallen to the aftermath of their brawl. Those who survived Roman's attack were killed by Lu Xiaoran, who was ready to claim every free point he could.
In his final moments, the goblin king wore a determined expression and let out a roar toward the sky. As he did, his green skin began to turn red, and his injuries healed rapidly. Seeing this, Lu Xiaoran and Roman realized that the goblin must have used a technique to sacrifice his life force. Now, all the goblin king wanted was to kill Roman, even if it meant losing his own life.
This was the last stand of a king, not just a monster. Roman looked at the goblin king with respect. With a serious expression, Roman declared, "I never expected a mindless monster to show such courage in battle. If you choose to die like a king, then I won't hold back."
He clenched his fist, preparing to strike, and said, "This time, I'll only use one punch. Let's see if you can survive it."
The goblin king roared in response. Gathering all his strength, he charged at Roman with his spear. When their attacks collided, a shockwave erupted, creating a smoke screen of rubble and sand.
As the smoke cleared, Roman stood tall and unscathed, while the goblin king was in bad shape. His red skin had returned to green, and he had lost both hands along with his treasured spear. Despite this, he limped on the ground, groaning in pain. Before Roman could finish him off, a fast projectile struck the goblin king's head, killing him instantly.
Caught in the chaos, Roman and Lu Xiaoran did not notice that Lina's robots had reached the Goblin city. While they focused on larger targets like orcs, trolls, and the goblin king, Lina commanded her army of thousands of robots to go on a killing spree. She targeted weaker foes like goblins and hobgoblins instead of bigger threats. While this might seem disadvantageous, the sheer number of goblins in the forest outweighed the points that could be gained by defeating higher-level monsters.
Goblins reproduce rapidly, so they formed the backbone of this dungeon. With her robot army, Lina wiped out every goblin that Lu Xiaoran and Roman ignored. When she reached the Goblin city, she observed the fight between the goblin king and Roman. While commanding her robots to eliminate every goblin, she wanted to gain insights into their fighting styles.
When Lina saw the goblin king survive Roman's last punch, she recognized a great opportunity. Taking out a high-caliber electromagnetic rifle, she aimed at the goblin king and fired before Roman could finish him. The goblin king, close to death, didn't even notice the shot that pierced his head, granting him a swift end.
With the goblin king defeated, the main boss of the dungeon was gone, marking the end of the dungeon raid. With over 90% of the goblins dead, the dungeon would soon merge with the world. The resources could then be harvested by those who cleared it.
Then, a loud announcement echoed throughout the dungeon, followed by Vik's voice: "My dear disciples, the Dungeon competition is finished. Please check your rankings to see the winner and come back to me as soon as you can. We are going to start our dungeon party."
With that, the competition concluded, and everyone rushed to check their rankings.
Lina: 1546 points
Roman: 1535 points
Lu Xiaoran: 1489 points
Surprisingly, the one with the weakest cultivation earned the highest score, topping the rankings. One reason for this was Lina's final kill of the goblin king.
