Chapter 193: A World Like a Pit of Filth
"First, allow me to express my gratitude. Thank you all very much. Despite my shallow experience, I commanded you to kill each other during the succession ceremony. To those who still choose to follow me, I express my deepest appreciation here."
It was hard to imagine such cold, cruel words being spoken so calmly from the mouth of such a beautiful woman.
As the leader of the Heil-Ly Family, one of the three major mafia organizations, Morena had the least seniority among the three leaders. The leaders of the other two families were Hui Guo Rou, the current King of Kakin's, half-brothers, while Morena was his daughter.
However, all three shared a common identity—they were illegitimate children!
And this was the origin of the tragedy.
Illegitimate children of the Kakin royal family, upon coming into this world, would have their faces slashed with two special blades. These two permanently unhealing scars were the price they paid to be allowed to live.
They became second-liners—people who could never appear before the nation's public, stripped of legitimate inheritance rights!
It was precisely because of this that Onion Head and Cauliflower Head, being the King of Kakin's half-brothers, could survive until now—because they simply didn't have the qualification to participate in the previous royal succession battle.
These second-liners were born destined to live in darkness their entire lives, which is why successive rulers of Kakin's underground forces have always been second-liners.
Being born into darkness easily twisted the minds of these second-liners, and Morena was among the most exceptional in this regard.
She was filled with hatred toward her half-siblings who could live in the sunlight.
Her hatred didn't stop there.
Morena opened her eyes and looked ahead.
"Unfortunately, I have no interest in this world, including myself. Since that's the case, let me follow my heart and completely destroy it."
Standing before Morena at this moment were those who had survived the mutual killing during the Heil-Ly Family's succession ceremony.
Looking at them, Morena spread open her arms.
"To the 22 people present, I will grant you abilities as promised. Come forward one by one..."
As her words fell, a woman with twin tails stepped forward and stopped before Morena.
Morena reached out both hands to cradle the twin-tailed woman's face, then directly kissed her.
And this was Morena's ability—Contagion—With Etude of Love.
Through Morena's saliva, it could proliferate infected members (maximum 23 people including Morena). Infected members could increase their levels and enhance their total aura amount and power by killing people.
Upon reaching level 20, they could discover their own unique abilities. Upon reaching level 100, that infected member could become Member Zero, capable of forming their own infection group.
There were many overpowered and abnormal abilities that appeared in the Succession War arc, and Morena's ability was one of them.
After Morena finished forming connections with each person one by one, she began explaining to everyone: "Ordinary people are level 1, ability users are level 10. If you kill a prince, you'll directly level up by 50. May you achieve immediate success."
The Heil-Ly Family members who had obtained abilities turned and left in unison.
Watching their departing figures.
Morena coldly muttered to herself: "Arbitrarily producing, doubting, fearing, detesting, harming, permitting..."
"Hehehe, how laughable."
Morena gently traced the scars on her face, a faint smile curling at the corners of her lips.
"But I like these scars. Without them, I might have been closer to death. Thanks to these two marks, I've managed to stay balanced."
"To completely destroy this world that's like a cesspit, I can keep pushing a little longer..."
Being immersed in darkness made Morena understand this world all too well.
And hate it all the more.
Unexplained natural disasters, the law of the jungle where the strong prey on the weak, endless wars and emaciated refugees, rampant hunting of endangered species, pollution of the oceans and various ecosystems.
Lavish indulgence in gluttony, money squandered like rain, and humans who lose their lives for wealth.
Some struggle so hard that merely surviving feels like a luxury, while others waste extravagantly, and still others revel in decadent pleasures atop vast resources.
.....
All of the above was the world in Morena's eyes—a cesspit.
On the other side, the Troupe had finally grasped the power distribution across the lower three levels of the Black Whale.
The Cha-R Family controlled all basic living supplies on the fifth level, the Xi-Yu Family managed the flow of people and goods on the fourth level, profiting from price differences, while the Heil-Ly Family's main income came from black-market dealings with the wealthy.
"Leave the fifth level to the Buol family. I plan to check out the upper levels. Before that, I need to grab something from the warehouse—the specially made umbrella hidden in the black-market supplies is important to me," Feitan stated.
The Buol family was the group of lowlifes that Feitan and the others had taught a lesson to earlier.
Franklin spoke up, "Then let's go together."
Shalnark felt the same way.
After all, they had all witnessed Mord's strength. If anyone dared to go alone at a time like this, it wouldn't be a display of courage—it would be sheer stupidity.
All they wanted was Mord's life.
As for the methods, it didn't matter.
Because they were thieves, after all.
The three quickly arrived at the warehouse managed by the Cha-R Family. The warehouse supervisor noticed Feitan and his companions' arrival and said, "I've heard about you. You're from the Troupe, right? Tell me, what do you want?"
"The specially made umbrella hidden in the black-market supplies," Feitan replied directly.
It was clear that the higher-ups in the Cha-R Family had instructed them not to antagonize the Troupe. Upon hearing Feitan's request, the supervisor readily led the three to retrieve the item.
But as they reached a corner, something strange happened.
The supervisor said, "This way," and turned the corner. The next moment, Feitan abruptly stopped and raised a hand to block Franklin and Shalnark.
"Be careful. That guy just vanished—disappeared instantly from my En!" Feitan said gravely.
Understanding the situation, Franklin and Shalnark also began sensing the warehouse supervisor's presence and confirmed that he had indeed vanished.
The three hurried around the corner to investigate, and their perceptions proved correct—the passage ahead was empty. Even more bizarre, it was a dead end.
Just as Feitan and the other two were puzzling over this, several strange noises suddenly came from behind them. They immediately turned around and realized the sounds were coming from the direction they had just come from.
Feitan and the others then walked back, only to encounter an even more bizarre occurrence: the warehouse manager who had disappeared had reappeared.
However, he was now a corpse, lying precisely at the intersection where they had turned earlier.
No matter how one looked at it, this act was nothing short of a provocation against Feitan and the others—against the Phantom Troupe!
