Saint Seiya LC refers to "Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas – The Myth of Hades," abbreviated as "LC Hades Myth" or "Hades Myth LC," by Shiori Teshirogi. This is an officially authorized work by Masami Kurumada, depicting the previous generation Athena and her Saints against Hades.
This generation is the era of Dohko and Shion, with a comparatively complete storyline and side stories. The Gold Saints are generally stronger than in the original SS, and the characters are richly developed.
Note: This book chooses LC as the previous generation because that era's story is more complete, the character settings are fuller, and it is very tragic. This version has 26 episodes of anime and various manga, including side stories. (Aside from the Gold Cloth designs not looking great, the rest is solid.)
Saint Seiya SS refers to the old "Saint Seiya," including the Twelve Temples (Sanctuary), Poseidon (Sea Emperor), and Hades arcs. SS is the abbreviation of the Japanese romanization (Saint Seiya).
Many readers have only seen the Twelve Temples, which is fine—the plot shouldn't affect your reading. If you haven't watched the Hades OVA, you can find the SS Hades arc online; it's essentially the conclusion to the Saint Seiya series.
Saint Seiya ND refers to "Saint Seiya: Next Dimension – The Myth of Hades," abbreviated as "ND Hades Myth" or "Hades Myth ND," both art and script by Masami Kurumada. It is Kurumada's canonical sequel to the Hades arc, continuing from Elysion, and it is still serialized intermittently.
This one is the orthodox nostalgia pick. Because Kurumada updates slowly, the author didn't choose this version as the prior generation, but related plots and settings will still appear—such as a certain serpent everyone wants to see.
OVA stands for Original Video Animation. To date, the Saint Seiya OVA is "The Lost Canvas," two seasons with 26 episodes total.
Saint Seiya Ω is not planned to be incorporated for now. Some settings may carry over. As for why—old Saint fans will understand.
Statement: This book is set in a parallel world before the Saint Seiya Twelve Temples arc opens. The author's plot draws from SS, LC, ND, and other Saint Seiya works.
However, a doujin/derivative work will necessarily make changes to fit this book's plot setting. It cannot strictly follow the original step by step. (If you copy-paste, you can't go long and you're tightly constrained; insist on rigidly following the original and all Saint Seiya fanfics die out, because there's no room for the author to play.)
Some say the Cyclops and King of Souls plots are made up—this is incorrect. Saint Seiya is a mythic world where all kinds of mythic beings exist. Moreover, these plots have sources in LC's side stories, so there's no need to worry.
At present the author is not full-time; time and energy are limited. Thanks to the readers who help catch bugs—sometimes the checks aren't thorough and a few typos slip through. Thank you for pointing them out.
PS: The author is stockpiling chapters—though not many—aiming to keep at least three updates a day after going premium.
If subscriptions can cover meals, the author will go full-time. Premium should start in about two weeks—please subscribe and support then, and the author can maintain high-output updates.
On Qidian, a single chapter subscription is about a dime, and reading for a month only costs a few dollars.
Currently updates are at 6 p.m.; after going premium, there will be one or two additional chapters at noon.
Thank you all, thank you Saints—let's cherish our youth together!
