Chapter 355 - Chapter 88: The Moon Is Really Moon Tonight_3

A separate living room, bathroom, and even a kitchen, wine cabinet, and walk-in closet, which are rare in Night City...

Mercer and V checked the rooms one by one until they stopped in front of the bedroom.

They exchanged a glance, and Mercer held her back for a moment. V didn't question it, quietly waiting; half a minute later, Mercer nodded to her.

The bedroom door clicked open automatically, and V moved like lightning, grabbing a surprised Diana Kuno by the neck and pressing her against the window glass.

"Don't! Don't kill me!" Diana Kuno hadn't finished speaking when V's pistol was pressed to her face, and she turned her head to look at Mercer.

Mercer smiled and nodded slightly to Diana, "Good evening, Diana."

"Listen to me! A, I didn't mean to..."

Before she could finish, Mercer laughed, "You even went through the trouble of finding out my name? Impressive."

"It's... people from Military Science, you know, that middleman Faraday has publicly put a bounty on you. Your appearance and features are no longer secret..."

Diana's face was pale with fear as she pleaded, "Listen to me, A, we can sit down and have a proper talk..."

"Alright, a million gets you a chance to speak. What do you think?" Mercer casually pulled out a chair and sat in front of her.

Diana Kuno's eyes shifted as she dared not look at him, "I, I'm out of money recently..."

"I remember you said you had quite a bit left to pay for my ransom." Mercer said regretfully, "It seems we have nothing to talk about."

"No, no, no! I have value! Listen to me, A, the immune agent, I'm serious, it really can be developed!"

Diana Kuno urgently looked at Mercer, "Think about it, if this universal immune agent is developed, how important would it be for humanity?

Humans would no longer have to worry about various biological viruses, whether it's the flu or other infections. Even if we can't completely immunize, we can minimize side effects!

No need to worry about unclean water sources or fear disease-carrying animals... Once we develop this agent, it will usher in an evolution of the immune system for humanity!"

As she spoke passionately, Mercer simply shook his head with disinterest, his face mocking, "Perhaps. So? A con artist discussing humanity's future with a fugitive... ha."

He chuckled, gestured, and V immediately pressed her against Mercer's face, as Mercer directly pulled out his wrist data cable, and inserted it into her Brain-Computer Interface without allowing Diana to protest.

"Calm down, let me check what you're up to."

Mercer said, while Diana couldn't speak. Mercer's data transmission speed was too fast. Simply providing computing power needed for data transmission made her feel her body temperature rising.

A few seconds later, Mercer chuckled, "No wonder you're out of cash; you spent so much money on a solo flight ticket to the Moon... You're quite cautious, I thought hiding in Europe would be far enough."

After unplugging, he shook his head at V, "She really has no cash left, it's all for her escape route."

V understood, "Then you knock her out, I'm afraid I'll crush her."

"Alright." Mercer said, but before Diana could plead, a crimson warning frame appeared in her prosthetic eyes, and her prosthetics forcibly shut down, causing her to twitch and pass out.

"Let's go."

Mercer pointed above, and V tossed Diana to him.

Pretty heavy... Mercer simply grabbed her arm and dragged her along the ground, finding it easier that way.

V glanced at him disdainfully, "You might want to work out a bit."

"I prefer not to strain my eleven point body when swapping out arms would be easier." Mercer replied confidently, "V, I'm not like you; I use my brain."

"...When we get back to the base, I'll train you." V's meaningful look suggested it was unclear what the training would be—perhaps something like resistance?

Mercer merely smiled nonchalantly, and the two retraced their steps, heading up the stairway to the top floor.

At the door, V didn't rush to open it, waiting instead for Mercer to highlight the targets.

Once Mercer marked them with his prosthetic eye, he said, "You take care of the closer, lighter-colored ones. I'll handle those farther away."

"Be careful, don't stick your head out." V drew her pistol, took a deep breath, nodded to Mercer, and when he opened the door, she charged out first.

This time, there was no need to worry about being seen—after all, there were eleven elite agents on the roof. Expecting all eleven to be unable to send a distress signal during an assault was unrealistic.

The rooftop, with only some ventilation ducts as cover, offered little hiding space. The moment V stepped out, the agents spotted her.

But V moved so fast that almost as soon as the door opened, her powerful pistol roared in her hand.

A gun like a hand cannon in V's hand only caused a slight wrist movement, allowing her to re-aim at other targets.

Apart from two elite agents with operating systems who could react instantly, the others were nothing more than toys for the 'Speedster'.
