Tonia's POV
My breath caught in my throat as I stared at the group ahead of us. The world seemed to tilt on its axis.
There was no mistaking it. That woman standing there, laughing with the others, was definitely Lorelei.
"Wait, do you know her?" Lucien's voice sounded distant, confused. I could feel his eyes moving between me and the woman across the courtyard.
His words barely registered. My feet were already carrying me forward, my heart hammering against my ribs.
"Tonia, hey!" Lucien grabbed my wrist, his grip firm but gentle. "What's happening here? Talk to me. Did something happen between you two?"
"No, it's not that." I squeezed my eyes shut, fighting to control the storm brewing inside me. The memories were flooding back, threatening to drown me. My babies. My lost children. "I have to speak with her. Now."
I pulled free from his hold and kept walking toward the group.
