"He leaps where mortals build bridges, not out of arrogance but because he knows the ground will rise to meet him."
---
The Watchtower hung above the Earth, its metallic surface catching the sunlight like a crown of light over the blue planet below. Inside, the League had gathered—Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Queen Mera, Green Lantern and Batman—discussing the formal reinstatement of Atlantis into global alliance frameworks.
Then, without warning, the reinforced observation deck shuddered.
A thunderous boom echoed through the hall as a rippling gust of displaced air knocked papers off the table. The security feed blinked white for a split second and when it refocused—King was already standing there, calmly dusting off his shirt.
He had simply jumped—from the Earth's surface to geosynchronous orbit—unaided. Again.
Green Lantern groaned, rubbing his temple. "You know, there are Zeta tubes for a reason."
King tilted his head slightly, voice calm. "And yet you still act surprised."
Superman sighed with a helpless grin. "You could've at least called ahead."
"I did." King replied evenly, holding up a compact communicator that was, in fact, powered off.
Batman's glare could've cracked the floor plating. "You're going to burn through atmospheric entry seals one day doing that."
King looked at him, unbothered. "If that day ever comes, I'll simply rebuild them."
Flash whispered under his breath, "Show-off."
---
When the laughter settled, the conversation shifted to the reason for his sudden appearance. King was there to deliver a report—one that connected the global shifts in peace and the mysterious stabilization of several previously volatile regions.
Superman folded his arms. "We've seen the changes… the global conflict maps are cooling. Nations that were on the brink are opening talks again. Atlantis is coordinating humanitarian aid and Thermyscira is willing to reconnect with the world. But no one can explain how it's happening."
King gave a small smile. "Balance is like a pendulum—it swings naturally when the hand that held it stops pushing."
Mera looked intrigued. "You mean you stopped… doing something?"
"Precisely." He said. "I no longer tilt events. I simply let them find their rhythm."
Wonder Woman's gaze softened. "Then why come here?"
King paused for a long moment, his tone dropping into something faintly amused yet somber. "Because I hear the rhythm faltering again. Something old is stirring beneath the surface of mortal peace."
Bruce met his gaze. "You're talking about the anomalies… the tremors Lex mentioned."
King nodded once. "Yes. The world is healing, but the scars run deep. I'm not here to warn you of danger, Bruce… only to remind you that healing requires maintenance."
---
There was a moment of reflective silence before Flash blurted, "Okay but, real talk—can we talk about how you just jumped from Earth to orbit? Like, what's your cardio routine, man?"
King simply turned toward him, eyes glinting faintly. "Patience, restraint and a refusal to take the easy path."
That earned a quiet chuckle from Diana. Bruce, meanwhile, pinched the bridge of his nose as if fighting an oncoming headache.
"Next time." Batman muttered, "use the Zeta tubes. We built you one under Harley's shop."
King's lips curved in a faint smirk. "Next time, I'll consider it."
And with that, the godlike man turned and looked out the viewport toward Earth—his gaze lingering somewhere beyond sight, as though sensing the faint ripples of destiny itself stirring beneath the calm blue oceans.
