Chapter 5 - A Secret About Daddy I Don't know

"Shayla? Did... did you hear anything?" Anna asked, trying to act cool.

"No need to pretend, Anna. I heard everything, and I know everything." The sassy look on Shayla's face resembled that of a cocky mouse who wouldn't let the housekeeper sleep.

"And you're not going to react knowing your big brother had sex with your mom, Shayla?"

"I knew all along! The moment he walked down the stairs smelling like that, I knew he was with his momma."

"Shut your trap!" I didn't even realise when I pulled out my gun and pointed it at Shayla.

"Calm the fuck down, Ronald. This isn't how we're going to figure this out." Anna was already distressed.

"Tell me, Shayla, how much do I need to give you to keep your mouth shut?"

"Money is not the issue right now, Ronald. You need to swallow your ego." She used her hand to cover my pistol, dragging my arm down as she spoke. "It's time we chose between Mum and Dad. And for me, I'd want you to gun down Marco."

"Why are you so interested in killing your father, Shayla? And why are you calling him by his first name?"

"Because he's a liar and a cheater. All he does is cheat on Mum under the pretence of emergencies at the hospital. You think he's at the hospital now? Wrong! He's with his fucking side chick." Shayla was sobbing at this point. "He doesn't respect our mother. Even on a day that's special to her, he still chooses to betray her. He's the reason for all this mess right now."

"I'm at a loss for words," Anna muttered as her knees buckled to the floor.

"Alright then. We have our choice. Do you know where any of his side chicks live? Her house address preferably." I asked.

"Her house address? She didn't need to have a house... your father gave her one. She lives in our former apartment on Boulevard Street."

"Anna, you will come with me. Shayla, you'll stay back with Mum, okay?"

"I don't mind, whatever!" Shayla hissed, walking away.

"First, I'll confirm it's Mum who's upstairs, then we'll head for Dad. He shouldn't get here before we do this. Okay?"

"I'm not cool with this, but alright! I think he deserves it."

Anna freshened up while I went upstairs to check on my mom.

———

I drove my mum's car, my pistol right where it needed to be, as we searched for Boulevard Street. Within minutes, we were there.

I knocked softly on the door, and a maid answered. She was about to deliver the typical "no visitors allowed" spiel, but she remained silent and moved out of the way when I pointed my pistol at her.

"Where are they?" I asked.

She didn't say a word; she was too scared. Her hands were shaking as she pointed toward their door.

I ordered her to knock on their room door and tell them there was an issue in the kitchen. My intention was to use her as bait to get them to unlock their door for me… and, of course, to gun her down afterwards as well as destroy every piece of CCTV footage—I am not called Ronald the Goat for nothing.

We followed her upstairs, using her as bait. The door creaked open, and I immediately tossed her aside to confront the lovers behind closed doors, but my insides turned to dust when I saw the faces before me.

"Wait! I don't understand," Anna muttered as her head spun.

"Son, please put the gun down... I can explain."

"Shut up!" I shouted.

At this point, it felt like I was in a dream I needed to be slapped out of because why in the world would I barge in here expecting to see my father and his side chick only to find…

"How is this even possible?!" Anna's head was almost torn apart as she spoke.

Standing in front of us wasn't my dad's side chick; it was a freaking old man. And hell no! My dad is not gay. Because the person standing beside this old man is my MOTHER—not my father!

Immediately, a text popped up on my phone screen from Shayla:

***I'm sure by now you've seen for yourself the kind of woman we call a mother. And if you are confused about who you slept with last night, it was ANNA'S MOM. Yes! You saw that right. You can start coming home already; Dad's here and he has a lot to explain to you.***

I initially thought I had read that alone, but Anna was actually reading it with me.

"What the hell is going on?!" Anna yelled.

Her screams were justified. I was equally screaming inside because the biggest controversy here was that Anna's mom, whom I allegedly slept with, was my mum's twin sister, who supposedly died 11 years ago.
