Chapter 158 - Chapter 157: Odin Wakes Up and Something Unexpected Happens

Thor told everyone to leave; he wanted to face everything alone.

His friends shouldn't die for him. He was Thor of Asgard, and he could only fall before his subjects.

He was Odin's son, and he couldn't disgrace his father.

At this moment, Thor had become fearless. Death no longer terrified him.

To die a worthy death—that was exhilarating. He was a true warrior, daring to face all death.

One step, two steps—extremely resolute.

He knew Loki was behind the Destroyer. He could hear his own voice, and he wanted to end all of this.

Thor was ready to use his own death to put an end to the chaos, believing only his death could bring Loki peace of mind.

As long as he lived, Loki would never rest.

Thor narrowed his eyes, looking at the Destroyer, and said quietly:

"Brother, no matter what I did wrong to you, no matter what caused all of this, I am truly sorry."

His voice was low, carrying self-reproach. Even now, he didn't blame his brother—he took most of the responsibility himself.

Loki was just mischievous; his heart was kind. Thor hoped his sacrifice would make his brother change.

It must be said: Thor was a doting brother. No matter what, his brother mattered most.

Loki in the Heavenly Palace frowned, finger resting on his chin, eyes flickering, pondering Thor's words.

Seeing the Destroyer remain still, Thor thought Loki had wavered. He continued:

"But these people are innocent. Killing them brings you no benefit. So, kill me and end all of this."

Loki's eyes widened. This Thor wasn't like the one he knew.

His brother, always simple-minded, charging forward, never thinking of the bigger picture, now risked himself to save others.

Was this still Thor?

Had he been swapped out?

The Destroyer's flames dimmed, reflecting Loki's surprise, but Loki wasn't about to let Thor go. The schemer was ruthless.

Thor, believing his brother had returned to goodness, smiled slightly. He thought he had succeeded.

But the Destroyer, slowly turning, suddenly spun back and delivered a heavy punch to Thor's head.

Bang!

Thor was sent flying more than ten meters, crashing heavily.

He was dazed, unable to comprehend what had happened. Loki's attack was too sudden; Thor hadn't anticipated it.

"Thor!!"

Sif was alarmed. Without divine power, Thor was just a strong mortal—how could he withstand that blow?

Worried, Sif dragged her injured body and rushed to Thor, holding him tightly.

Thor whispered weakly, "It's all over."

"No! It's not! I… I mean… you are safe. We are safe!"

Thor gently closed his eyes and fell asleep.

The Warriors Three rushed to his side, weeping loudly; their companion had risked everything for them.

Loki, in the Heavenly Palace, turned slowly, bewildered.

"You said Thor died? Just like that?"

Jane looked at Leo. He remained calm, showing no worry at all. His composure hinted that things were not so simple.

"Don't worry, he'll be fine," Leo said lightly.

Loki was just a pawn; how could Odin allow a Frost Giant to become their king? That was nonsense.

Odin was testing Thor. As soon as Thor passed, Loki would be discarded. The heart of an emperor was not easily fathomed.

Odin, who had been in the Odin Sleep, awoke, two tear tracks streaking down his cheeks.

Was this fate? His adopted son and biological son were clashing, following the old path of fratricide?

He felt like a failure as a father, having failed to properly guide his children.

Thor's growth was immense; he had transformed from a reckless, brainless warrior into a king who understood the bigger picture.

This growth filled Odin with joy, even though it came through the despicable actions of another son.

It was worth it. An adopted son couldn't compare to Thor. Odin, that old fox, could sacrifice anything.

He sent Mjolnir to save Thor, lest he die completely.

In the temporary S.H.I.E.L.D. base, Mjolnir trembled, then accelerated, its frequency increasing.

The surrounding staff saw the drastic change on the energy monitors.

Bang!

The hammer, which no one could lift, soared into the sky and flew toward Thor at supersonic speed.

Suddenly, the weather changed. The sky darkened, clouds gathered, forming a massive vortex.

Lightning flashed, thunder rumbled—the power of the storm accumulated.

The Destroyer, about to leave, suddenly stopped.

Loki, through the Destroyer, was shocked.

Was Thor about to regain his divine power? Was Father secretly watching?

Loki's mind raced.

"Is this Father's manipulation? A trial for Thor?"

The more Loki thought, the more something felt off. Odin must have planned this long ago.

"F*ck! So it is!"

"This old man is using me as a stepping stone for Thor!"

"Hahaha! Odin! You are shrewd! I am truly someone else's child, unable to receive even a shred of your love!"

Loki roared at the sky, questioning Odin's fairness.

"Loki, why can't you come to your senses? That throne never belonged to you; why fight for it?"

Power is terrifying—it causes brothers to turn against each other.

Loki's questioning pierced Odin's heart further. He truly felt like a failure.

"Hahaha, alright, I surrender. You win! Do as you please, kill or flay me."

Loki saw Odin's sigh and realized the game was over.

But was it really over?

Just as Mjolnir was about to return, it suddenly changed direction at high speed—flying toward Magneto.
