Chapter 678 - Chapter 678: Ryo's Deployment

Chapter 678: Ryo's Deployment

The arrival of the reinforcements was completed under strict secrecy. Valley 3 was designated as a temporary restricted zone, with sentry duties rotating between the Armiger mechs and the Astartes squad.

The Knight mechs of House Nearl were parked deep within the valley, undergoing routine post-transit diagnostics and Machine Spirit pacification by the Sacristan maintenance thralls. Their colossal steel chassis gleamed coldly under the Pandoran starlight, forming a stark contrast with the primitive ecological environment around them.

Inside the tactical briefing room of the Trailblazer, a core meeting was convening.

The attendees included Ryo, Maine, Margaret Nearl, Maria Nearl, Techmarine Cassius, Apothecary Gaius, and Elandir acting as a special advisor.

The holographic projection displayed a map of Pandora, highlighting Hell's Gate Base, the general vicinity of the Omaticaya's new home—the Land of Chants—the valley where the ambush occurred, and the blurry orbital parameters of the Predator mothership detected by the Auspex array.

Ryo used a laser pointer to indicate the projection, concluding his concise situation briefing: "...In summary, we are facing a complex, three-way threat. The greed and unpredictability of the RDA, the hostile actions of the extremist 'Split-Claw' clan within the Na'vi, and the most imminent threat: the systematic Vengeance Hunt from the Predator species. Their mothership has been confirmed in near-orbit. Based on their behavioral patterns, it is highly probable that small-scale reconnaissance and hunter-killer units have already infiltrated the planet's surface."

Margaret Nearl stared at the map, her fingertips tapping a rhythmic, light beat against the table.

"A classic asymmetrical warfare environment," she analyzed. "Predators excel in stealth and individual hunting. We must remain highly vigilant of their technology, particularly their energy weapons and active camouflage. Their underlying honor code will likely drive them to actively seek out and challenge targets they deem powerful."

Her gaze swept over everyone present. "Our Knight mechs, as well as the Astartes brethren, will most likely be viewed by them as the highest tier of 'trophies'."

Techmarine Cassius's servo-claw on his left arm opened and closed silently, emitting a faint hydraulic hiss.

"Let them come," his voice transmitted through his helmet speakers, carrying a metallic, freezing edge. "Every xenos construct is a blasphemy against the Omnissiah. Our bolters and power swords will teach them true war."

His confidence stemmed from an absolute faith in his equipment and the performance of their newly patterned power armor.

Apothecary Gaius, however, was more focused on the biological threats and opportunities.

"The extreme longevity of these Predators is where their greatest value lies," he stated calmly, as if discussing a laboratory sample. "We must prioritize the acquisition of live subjects or intact biological tissue samples. This is vital for the deep-level optimization of the Gene-Seed project; its value may far exceed a simple tactical victory."

Elandir leaned elegantly against the wall. Her very presence seemed to act as a subtle harmonization within this room filled with cold steel and raw data.

Extending a slender finger, she pointed at the projected location of the Predator mothership, a faint, almost imperceptible psychic glow lingering on her fingertip.

"Their cloaking fields rely on the distortion of specific energy wavelengths, rather than true phase shifting," her ethereal voice carried the detachment of one peering into the essence of reality. "Our Aeldari star-trackers can be calibrated to that exact frequency band. As for their hunting habits..."

The corner of her mouth curved into a smile bordering on pity. "Treating war as a game of individual honor is, in itself, their greatest weakness. When the storm descends, no matter how sharp the lone wolf's fangs, they cannot shake the mountain."

Ryo absorbed the input from all sides and rapidly consolidated the plan.

"Our core strategy is to maintain strategic patience and absolute concealment," he summarized, the laser pointer circling several sectors on the map. "Let the RDA become the Predators' first point of contact. Their base defenses and patrols will provide us with invaluable live-combat data. Captain Maine, your squad, operating in tandem with three light-armor Astartes, will be responsible for daily patrols and intelligence gathering around the base perimeter and adjacent jungle sectors. Prioritize monitoring anomalous energy signatures and the tracks of cloaked units."

Maine nodded steadily. "Understood. We will find them."

Ryo continued his deployment: "Techmarine Cassius, you will lead the main Astartes element, including the heavy assault units, to establish a fortified forward operating base in Valley 3. Conduct environmental acclimation training and remain on standby for rapid deployment at all times. Apothecary Gaius, assist in establishing a field triage center and formulate emergency medical protocols specifically tailored to the potential trauma caused by Predator weaponry."

"By your will," Cassius responded deeply. Gaius offered a slight nod, his mind already calculating the allocation of medical supplies.

"Lady Margaret, Lady Maria," Ryo turned to the two Knights. "Your Knight mechs are our strategic deterrent force. Please familiarize yourselves with the surrounding topography, particularly the borders between the valleys and the jungle. Pre-calculate your sortie routes and fire-support envelopes. When the time comes, I need you capable of instantaneously obliterating any enemy foolish enough to challenge us head-on."

"The Knights stand ready for war at any moment," Margaret replied with absolute conviction. "We shall safeguard this sector."

"Elandir," Ryo's gaze shifted to the Eldar Ranger, his tone flat but carrying an unquestionable ring of command. "You are to recalibrate the base's detection arrays. Your primary objective is to increase the identification rate of cloaked Predator units. Simultaneously, sweep the entire planet; I need to know if their mothership is broadcasting large-scale psychic interference or inducing spatial anomalies. I suspect that vessel possesses support capabilities we have yet to grasp."

"I am happy to provide a touch of clarity to this... amusing observation," Elandir offered a slight bow.

The meeting adjourned, and the attendees dispersed, rapidly throwing themselves into tense combat preparations.

Ryo remained alone in the briefing room. On the holographic map, the blip representing the Predator mothership continued its slow, ominous crawl.

"Vengeance Hunt... Young Blood trials..." he murmured to himself, a calculating, razor-sharp glint flashing in his eyes. "The stage is set, and the actors are taking their places. Let us see whose script prevails in the end."

Just then, the terminal on his wrist vibrated softly. It was a comms request from Dr. Grace.

"Ryo," Grace's voice carried obvious relief. "Good news! Rei and the others have safely arrived at the Land of Chants! Sutai just sent word—the Hometree transplant was a complete success, and it has already begun to take root! Shinji, Asuka, and Rei have settled in and begun their cultural exchange."

This was undeniably a dose of soothing relief injected into the tense atmosphere of war preparation.

"Copy that. This is a positive development," Ryo replied, his tone steady. "Maintain contact with them, Grace. Remind them to stay vigilant, particularly regarding any movements from the 'Split-Claw' clan. The internal contradictions among the Na'vi have not vanished simply because Hometree has returned."

Terminating the connection, he walked over to the observation window, gazing out toward the distant river valley where the Omaticaya resided. The return of Hometree had not erased the latent conflicts. And right now, the Predator mothership hovered in planetary orbit. The true threat had arrived.

The Pandoran night appeared peaceful, but every faction was moving in the shadows: Predators stalking through the jungle, RDA forces reinforcing their perimeter, the Na'vi remaining on high alert against external threats, and Ryo's newly acquired reinforcements holding their positions. This temporary calm would not last long; conflict could erupt at any second.
