Chapter 19 - Guildmaster’s Suspicion

The town gates loomed ahead, the banners of the Adventurer's Guild fluttering in the warm breeze.Lyria walked beside Pramit, still amazed at how calm he looked after everything that happened in the forest.

"Finally… the guild," she sighed in relief.

Pramit yawned, scratching the back of his head. "Can't we rest first? My legs are protesting."

"You've been sitting the entire time!" she scolded, but he only shrugged.

They entered the guild — a tall building filled with hunters, mages, and warriors buzzing with noise. The smell of roasted meat and ink from quest papers filled the air.

Before anyone could notice, Pramit wandered toward a sofa in the corner, stretched out, and instantly fell asleep. His slow, steady breathing earned a few confused stares.

Lyria could only sigh. How can he sleep anywhere… like some lazy cat?

She turned toward the reception counter and began explaining everything to the staff — the strange monster, the sudden attack, and how they barely made it back alive.

Whispers spread quickly. A few senior adventurers frowned, and someone hurried off to inform the Guildmaster.

Within minutes, a messenger approached her."Miss Lyria, the Guildmaster requests a private report. Now."

Lyria nodded, glancing once at the sleeping boy.He didn't even move.

"Figures…" she muttered, then followed the messenger upstairs.

Lyria stepped into the Guildmaster's office, her hands clenched slightly. The room was large, lined with shelves full of maps, books, and trophies from past hunters. A tall man with sharp eyes sat behind a polished desk, observing her carefully.

"Report everything," the Guildmaster said, his tone calm but firm. "Start from the beginning."

Lyria took a deep breath.

"Yes, sir. A strange monster appeared deep in the eastern forest. It attacked me and forced me to retreat. Normally, monsters of this level don't appear in that area. And… someone helped me, sir. I didn't see his face clearly, but the attack he used destroyed the monster almost instantly."

The Guildmaster leaned back, his eyes narrowing.

"Someone… destroyed the monster? Alone?"

Lyria nodded.

"Yes, sir. I only saw flashes of earth and fire magic. Then… it was over. The forest was burned, and the monster was gone."

The Guildmaster was silent for a moment, tapping his fingers on the desk.

"Interesting… And this boy you mentioned — did you get his name?"

"Yes, sir. Pramit. But he's… unusual. He doesn't seem very motivated, sir. He just sleeps a lot."

The Guildmaster's eyes sharpened.

"Hmph. A boy, inexperienced, yet he survives a monster that could kill an elite hunter? And controls powerful magic… Alone?"

Lyria shifted nervously.

"I… don't know, sir. I only saw him from a distance after the fight."

The Guildmaster leaned forward, voice low but intense.

"Keep watching him. There's more to this boy than he lets on. If he is hiding something… I need to know before trouble finds him — or the guild."

Meanwhile, in the corner of the office, a faint snore came from the sofa.Pramit had apparently followed Lyria in — and promptly fallen asleep again, ignoring the serious conversation.

"…He's in the same room?" Lyria muttered, exasperated."Yes, sir," she said, glancing at him. "Completely asleep."

The Guildmaster narrowed his eyes even more, a frown forming.

"A lazy boy… who might be the most dangerous person I've seen in years."

Lyria stood next to the sofa, arms crossed, trying not to laugh at Pramit's peaceful snore.

"Sir, he's… asleep," she whispered.

The Guildmaster didn't take his eyes off the boy.

"Hmm. A boy who can sleep through the chaos of a monster battle… curious."

Pramit twitched, half-opening one eye.

"Mm… morning…" he mumbled, voice still thick with sleep."Yes, morning. Do you know why you're here?" Lyria hissed.

He yawned, stretched one arm lazily toward the ceiling, and muttered:

"Not really. Can I sleep some more?"

The Guildmaster leaned forward, tone sharp.

"You just destroyed a monster that could have killed an experienced hunter. Yet you act like it's nothing. Explain yourself."

Pramit blinked slowly, then shrugged.

"I don't know… maybe the monster was too weak?"

Lyria nearly groaned.

"It's not weak! You saved my life!"

He rolled over, half-asleep, and lazily waved a hand.

"Hmm… then you're welcome. Now can I get back to sleeping?"

The Guildmaster's eyes narrowed, noticing the faint smell of burnt forest and ash clinging to him.

"Curious… controlling fire and earth in that way, surviving alone, yet utterly lazy. You are hiding something. I will find out what."

Pramit mumbled in his sleep:

"Five more minutes… maybe fish for breakfast…"

Lyria's hands flew to her face.

"Unbelievable. He's literally lying there while you plan world domination in your head!"

The Guildmaster's frown deepened.

"Do not underestimate him. Lazy or not, a person capable of that magic is dangerous — to the guild and the world."

Pramit shifted slightly, still asleep, and let out a soft snore.

"…fish… tasty…"

Lyria shook her head, trying not to laugh.

"I swear, I don't know whether to strangle him or just let him sleep forever."

The Guildmaster, watching the sleeping boy, spoke softly to Lyria:

"Keep him close. Observe him. If he awakens his full power, we cannot ignore it."

Pramit twitched one arm again, still dreaming.

"…maybe tomorrow…"

Lyria groaned.

"Tomorrow? You always say that."

And with that, the boy slept on — completely unaware of the curiosity, suspicion, and grudging admiration building around him.

Sunlight streamed into the guild office through tall windows.Pramit stirred on the sofa, slowly opening one eye.

"Mmm… what time is it…?" he mumbled, stretching his arms like a cat.

Lyria groaned beside him.

"Finally! You're awake. The Guildmaster has been waiting."

He yawned, half sitting up.

"Guild… huh? Can we skip that part? I was having a dream about fish."

Lyria rolled her eyes.

"Nope. Not skipping. Come on."

Grumbling, Pramit dragged himself to his feet. He looked at the tall, sharp-eyed man sitting behind the desk — the Guildmaster.

"Ah… you must be the famous Pramit," the Guildmaster said, voice calm but intense. "I hear you've been very… busy."

Pramit scratched his head lazily.

"Busy? Me? Not really… I just… woke up when things got messy."

The Guildmaster raised an eyebrow.

"Is that so? A boy who sleeps through most of the forest and yet destroys a monster of unusual power… tell me, how did you do it?"

"Uh… magic?" Pramit said, shrugging. "Earth and fire… I think."

Lyria's eyes widened.

"He's not exaggerating, sir! He actually did that — and he was asleep half the time!"

The Guildmaster's frown deepened.

"Hmph… I see. Lazy, yet remarkably strong. I wonder what else you are hiding…"

Pramit yawned again, rubbing his eyes.

"Hiding? Nah… I'm just trying to sleep more. Too much effort otherwise."

Lyria groaned again, muttering under her breath:

"This boy… is impossible."

The Guildmaster leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers.

"Keep him close. Observe him. A person like him… cannot be ignored."

Pramit tilted his head, half-listening.

"Hmm… fish for lunch… maybe…"

And so, the lazy boy sat there, completely unaware of how closely the Guildmaster was watching him, while Lyria tried not to burst out laughing at his utter lack of concern.
