Chapter 24 - Conflict with the Elders

**Chapter 24

~ The Werewolf Realm ~

** Levi's POV**

We were currently in the meeting hall—the room where pack elders always gathered to "advise" the Alpha. And honestly, I was losing my mind. The elders kept ranting, complaining, and demanding answers like broken drums. I could see Micha was already shaking, Zaki kept grinding his teeth, and me… I was two seconds away from letting Magnus out.

They were testing us.

Poking at us.

Pushing their luck.

And they didn't even know.

"Alpha Levi," one of them said, stroking his white beard with fake wisdom,

"we are simply saying that you should let us know which pack your mate is from. We need to confirm if she is strong, and if she deserves to be our Luna."

I breathed in slowly, trying not to tear his head off.

Then I replied, calmly—but deadly honest:

"You want to know where she lives so you can murder her. I'm not putting my mate's life in the hands of this pack's elders."

Some gasped. Some frowned. Some looked offended.

Good.

Then another one—Elder Parker—stood up like he was the king of the world.

"Alpha Levi, I served under your father for many years. When you took over, I supported you. We are only trying to help the pack. All we ask is that you invite your mate to the upcoming festival."

I stared at him with pure annoyance.

"And why should I listen to you, Elder Parker? You want me to bring my mate here so the elders can kill her the way they killed the last one? Hell. No."

Silence.

Then the old fool opened his rotten mouth and said the worst thing imaginable.

"Alpha… the previous Luna died because she was weak. Pathetic."

The room went cold.

No one spoke.

No one blinked.

Even the air froze.

The tension was thick in the hall.

Before I could react, Micha snapped.

His wolf tore out, bones shifting, fur bursting out, claws slamming onto the floor. In less than a second, Micha launched at Parker and bit into his neck. The old man screamed as blood spilled everywhere.

He was old—his healing was slow. The elders panicked, screaming for the pack doctors. They dragged the bleeding idiot out of the hall.

Was it messy?

Yes.

Was it necessary?

Absolutely.

Micha shifted back into human form, still breathing heavily.

"Sorry Levi," he said.

"I was pissed. I couldn't stop my wolf."

I placed a hand on his shoulder.

"It's fine. Even I was having trouble controlling Magnus. Elder Parker got exactly what he deserved."

Micha smirked a little, proud and unbothered.

We both knew we just started a war with the elder council. More questioning. More drama. More nonsense.

But we didn't care.

After the mess, Micha asked:

"Have you found anything new in the book? I've been too busy lately, I couldn't come."

I sighed.

"No. The book won't even open unless we both touch it. Want to try now?"

"Sure. Let's go."

We headed to my room. The second we stepped inside, the ancient book—without anyone touching it—flew open on its own and glowed brightly.

Micha and I exchanged a look and rushed to it.

We were excited about another adventure of mysteries.

We didn't care about Elder Parker. We didn't care about consequences.

This was bigger.

This was the truth we needed.

The truth we wanted.

The ancient book began:

---

"Dear reader, welcome. This ancient book has been waiting for you."

Then the pages flipped themselves.

**"As previously stated, the War of Realms ended, but the war between the Vampires and Werewolves continued. King Roosevelt was enraged. He burned cities in the Werewolf realm. He killed and killed, destroying everything in his path.

Although he could not wipe out the entire werewolf population, he focused on royals. He overthrew the rulers. He enslaved the nobles and made their servants the new high-ranking officials.

Yes—royals became slaves, and slaves became nobles."**

Micha and I looked at each other, shocked.

The book continued:

**"Nobles who were once powerful were forced to sleep in small dirty houses with bugs and pest. They could hardly eat. They had no maids, no luxury. Some nobles, unable to endure the humiliation, took their own lives.

King Roosevelt was unbothered. His hatred drowned his heart. His madness swallowed his soul.

Years passed… and then something strange happened.

A human girl entered the palace—her face identical to the former queen, Roosevelt's lost wife.

The truth of what happened to Princess Eloise began to unravel from that moment."**

---

And then, just like that—

The book slammed shut.

Without a single goodbye.

Without a clue.

Just mystery dropped at our feet again.

Micha stared at it in disbelief.

"Levi, what is wrong with this book? Every time it closes, it leaves one mystery hanging! Now what does it mean that a human entered the palace looking like Roosevelt's dead queen?!"

I chuckled.

"Nothing's wrong with the book, Micha. Something's wrong with history."

He burst out laughing.

We talked for a while—about pack business, possible threats, and what might happen with the elders now that Micha bit one of them.

But honestly? We didn't care.

The truth was more important.

The book was more important.

Our mission was more important.

Eventually, Micha left to go see his mate—Kate—and I went to my room to shower.

The warm water ran down my skin, but my mind wouldn't stop spinning.

A human with the queen's face…

Nobles turned into slaves…

The ancient war…

The truth hidden for centuries…

Too much of things.

Too much.

What were we missing?

I didn't know yet , but I'm going to find out.

I dried up, changed clothes, and laid on the bed.

Magnus growled softly in my head.

"Our mate… she's connected to all of this."

I knew he was right, he was very right.

And with those thoughts twisting in my mind, I slowly drifted into sleep—still thinking of the truth, the book, the realms, and the one woman fate gave back to me.
