The atmosphere was intense; the robbers were a bit scared, and yet, they gave themselves some motivation and energy.
Kai stood in front of them with an angry face, yet unarmed.
"Or what, kid, are you going to fight us?" The leader of the group asked, his teeth showing outside as he got angry.
The Luminaris citizens were waiting to witness Kai's plan. The princess was also scared for him. Her heart was racing, and her eyes widened, looking where Kai vanished to.
Suddenly gasps scattered all over; they got quiet, staring at the middle of the apartments, where Kai went.
Suddenly, the robbers went out to the light, followed by Kai behind. The leader was being carried by his friends, his feet being pulled on the ground.
The murmurs started whirling in the atmosphere as they got surprised by Kai, who came out unharmed, and yet, he bossed the robbers around.
They all opened their ears as they got hungry for the information about the changing of the robbers' minds.
{In Luminaris history, no one has ever survived when he or she chased the robbers to the dark. Mostly they were found dead, either stabbed or choked to death. Kai changed the history in his first try.
Most of the robbers were always ready to kill anyone who attempted to stop them. Sometimes they robbed people in the streets, since they knew that mages wouldn't appear just from the wind. And mostly, no mage has ever risked his or her life to follow the robbers since they wouldn't know whether the robber is an otherworlder or not.
Otherworlders were the most feared guys ever; their power wasn't to play with. The defeated OWs were killed or captured by a group of mages, maybe 7 or more people against 1. Many of the mages lost their lives trying to kill the OWs. The mages are considered heroes, but they don't even protect people since they don't go in groups unless there's an emergency report about an OW that went berserk.
If a mage saw someone being attacked or robbed while he or she was watching, they'd just act normal, and they would hide their hero title under their feet and walk away.}
Kai was seen as a true hero as he walked towards the woman that was robbed.
Murmurs followed him behind, but he cared less about them since he was mostly distracted by Seraphina's voice that echoed in his mind.
'[You've landed yourself in deep trouble, dammit. Now you will be minced, and you won't be able to protect yourself since you are this weak. Yesterday you trained the basics, and you can't use those skills to touch one of them when he arrives. Seraphina was lecturing Kai silently; suddenly, Kai got pissed and shut her mouth up.
'Would you mind? What are you even talking about anyways?'
'[Don't ask me! The only thing that I'm going to say is… you should keep your guard up. Anything can happen, hero boy!]'
'Sure thing, miss celestial being!'
'[That's not my name, damn head!]'
They reached the poor woman, who was still sobbing, sitting on her bent feet.
"Return her money back!" Kai told the robbers as they stood in front of the woman.
The robbers didn't even shake to cooperate with Kai.
Kai repeated his question, and suddenly, their beaten-up leader responded, his voice barely above a whisper, "Do, do whatever he, he t…tells you!" he said as he barely opened his eyes. Those eyes were looking tired and sleepy.
The other guy, who was carrying the woman's coin purse, moved forward and gave the woman her money.
Gasps scattered all around, people closing their open mouths with their hands.
Meanwhile,
The princess was thunderstruck; her eyes were wide open as she saw the robbers following Kai's orders while he was just a simple guy with no magic or combat experience.
She watched the poor woman thanking Kai for his help! The princess's face changed as a smile was created by the woman's happiness after she got her money back.
'Wow, that's really something. I can't conceal my happiness inside of me; that woman's smile is making my heart race!' The princess silently said, her face blooming with a pure smile.
She continued, 'And how did Kai pull that off? He's younger than those guys, but… is he for real? Is he really the simple, inexperienced Kai I know? Nobody has ever come back alive; that's something I know for sure. Maybe he somehow tricked them since he's another worlder too."
The crowd continued chattering behind Kai; suddenly, their murmurs faded slowly, and before a second, Kai heard the princess's voice calling him.
Slowly, the princess said, "Kai!" a bit suspicious, and hinting at fear from the word distributor.
Kai gasped, his heart thudded for a second, and when he took it into consideration, he heard that everyone was quiet, with no whispers or anything. When he took a look at his right side, he saw only the brown bricked apartment with no one around. Suddenly, he turned his head to the left in fear; suddenly, he saw the princess turning her head away from Kai, acting as if she didn't know him.
'Wait, did the princess just… forget her? Maybe she's mad at me since I disobeyed her orders. Wait, did I just…? Put that away. Where are the people? They were glaring at me a second ago, and now they are walking as if there was nothing happening here. Ridiculous!' Kai thought as he looked around; he looked in front of him, then he saw no one, only the robbers. Even that woman who was helped, she got no response from Kai, but she vanished into the crowd.
Suddenly, Kai looked behind, and his eyes widened in astonishment.
"Hey boy, do you want to play?"
