Checking the time, Minx decided to head back to the library until it was closer to curfew. The student ordered 4 more notebooks then went in search of the books on plants. She was not disappointed as she discovered a section not noticed the day before.
Minx had no idea how long she was in the library for. She found so many books on plants and was reading and taking copious notes. It would take her weeks, maybe months, to pour through all of them. Best of all, she found books on medicinal properties of herbs. She would now be able to use this information once she fully mastered the process. The thought truly excited her to be even more useful to her friends and brother.
She looked up and realized it was close to curfew and she was getting a bit hungry. She was glad she grew extra food earlier. She rubbed her eyes, put all the books away and headed back toward her room.
She was about halfway there when she heard, "No, Please!" then a male voice said, "I will break a finger for each time you refuse to give me your credits. It's simple. Transfer them to me and the pain stops."
Minx quickly found where the voices were coming from and realized the boy was Aqua. An evil grin spread across her face as she touched her toes to the ground. A root extended then branched out.
Around Aqua were five boys, two were holding him, a third was in front of him causing the pain. The other two were behind the leader. The root moved fast and quickly wrapped around the arms and legs of the three boys in front of Aqua. She had never extended the roots so far up before on so many people, so it was a little tiring. It was normally less root to control on each person.
She whipped out her vine and charged in. One of the two boys let go of Aqua and tried throwing an earth spear but she dodged it then hit it out of the air with her vine as a demonstration and a warning. "Too slow, my go" she growled. Then she was within distance and slashed the boy's face with her vine. He screamed in pain.
"Hey, your cheek has a tear… Good thing the clinic is near," she hissed, voice drippin with contempt.
"Anybody else wanna play? I have all day…" she looked around as the last boy let go of Aqua and backed off.
The other boys realized the more they struggled against the roots, the more the roots cut into their flesh. She was feeling the strain of using the root but with it five against one, maybe two if Aqua joined in, she didn't like the odds. The good thing in her mind was it looked like the boys were losing their will to fight.
Bullies liked easy prey and she had demonstrated she was not so easy. She walked up to the root and touched it "wither" and it dried up into dust within seconds.
"Come on. Let's get back," she said to Aqua while keeping her eyes on the threat and looking for any more.
Seeing none, she walked Aqua to his room and checked him for injuries. Fortunately, they had not yet broken his fingers but he had bruises and scrapes.
"I learned some interesting things in the library today about healing. I need a few more supplies to try it inside so I will try to cover that tomorrow. If the bullies are going after broken bones, I have a lot more to learn, though."
Aqua nodded at her words. "Do you think I could have the same deal you have with your brother? You hold my credits? I know it means you need to do the accounting, or we can do it together, but my family is not exactly well off. I want to save up to buy the next level ability book."
Minx nodded, "Bring your card with you in the morning. All three of you stop by my room and we'll get that set up and head to breakfast together. Also, I think it's best if you limit your wandering by yourself."
After seeing Aqua's nod in agreeance, she left the room. As she entered her own room, she noticed that Raven was feeding Knight and she smiled. She ate some of the remaining food she grew earlier while not disturbing her roommate.
In truth, she was quite fascinated by watching the bird eat. It sawed the flesh with the ridged bill; it had then swallowed once the piece fit into its beak. It was messy and bloody. She now fully understood why the Bree family needed special accommodation. She guessed both beds would normally be used for the family but there wasn't another Bree student to pair to this room, so she got lucky.
After a bit, her mind started to wander. The portable kitchen stuff she got was not the same she used in the past. The oven, though she didn't need it today, it did not use fire. It used a basic-tier beast crystal. She would not have one of those until their first outing. This meant she would need to use the oven in her room to make sandwiches for Logan.
She needed her watch changed. If she used more challenging things, her ability was going to grow. That number was bound to change. While that was great for scaring away the bullies, it would also draw unwanted attention in other areas.
So, tomorrow she needed to go to the library, buy a couple of pots with really good lids and grow some wheat. She had little experience in this, only did it a few times and she wanted to impress. With a plan in mind and a smile on her face, she sat on the floor to do her evening meditation.
In the evening, she did her charka meditation to help ground her before sleeping. It helped keep the nightmares away. She started with her root chakra, the red energy. She focused on it and allowed it to move through her. Next was her sacral chakra, orange in color. She didn't have much use of this energy so she always just acknowledged it was there and a thank you and moved on to the solar plexus, yellow energy. She allowed this energy to move around and fill her then return to its place.
Followed by the heart chakra, green energy. While she didn't have a relationship with the man she had her eyes on, she did use this energy to embrace the love she had for her brother, strengthening that energy while also offering gratitude for her new friends. Next, she moved on to her throat, light blue or cyan energy. Self-expression has always been a bit of a struggle, so she has tried to fill herself slowly with this energy before returning it to her throat.
Next was the third eye, blue energy. This was also an area she was not working on so she just gave it a nod after visualizing it then moved on. Last was the crown chakra. Purple. She needed the inspiration. She kept hoping that if she spent time here, she'd have dreams of new things to try with her ability. It did work sometimes.
Maybe tonight she would get lucky. Once she felt each part of her body had what it needed and she felt relaxed, the fatigue from the day began to really set in.
Unknown to her, Raven watched her as she sat there, unmoving. Raven was watching for facial expression changes. She did note a few and realized she might be able to benefit from this as well. Watching her roommate climb, exhausted into bed, she got up, turned off the lights and headed to bed herself. She wanted to learn and planned to ask in the morning.
