Lana leaned back into him. She then turned off the stove, dinner was ready to serve. She turned around in his arms and gave him a quick passionate kiss. They did have an audience after all. This audience wasn't used to a Sil that was this overt.
She turned toward Logan, Peter, and Borden, "please, have a seat. I know you haven't had a decent meal in a month. I'm sorry Peter, I don't have food for you here. Can you fill me in on everything that happened?"
Meanwhile, looking at their faces, she wasn't sure they heard a single word. They were staring at her wings.
Lana served up the soup and called Shalt in to eat his steak. Borden and Sil got soup and steak as well. When she realized he was coming, she pulled out one for him as well. She made Logan a sandwich. While she couldn't eat bread any longer, she would serve friends who did so she always had some on standby.
Sitting to eat was a difficult proposition. Sil refused to let her go. They both had to eat with her sitting on his lap at the dinner table.
Lana realized she wasn't going to get any answers out of people staring at her new body. She told her friends of everything that happened before they left and after. She mentioned the idea of a back-up command post to Logan and he liked the idea but not on her planet. He said the technological upgrades to all the forces would be cost prohibitive if he was to keep her home a secret.
Lana asked for a security code of some kind to be placed on all the doors leading into the Blade children's area to ensure they are safe while they were home. Logan said that was easily done as was creating a teleporter for the emergency area.
Lana smiled, feeling a bit more relieved. If she was inviting people from the Cursed Ship, she wanted to ensure they could not get to her in-laws. Of course, they would still be going to school but that was the only time they were inside the shelter.
"Now, Logan. I have told you everything that happened here. If you try to tell me nothing happened there, the fact that you are missing an arm would prove you are not being honest."
Logan shared the whole tale. The arm was removed to feed Peter. They had gone to the secret lab in the mountain and returned to find out Quinn was to be executed, along with Alex. An original from the eighth family turned the whole settlement into a war zone. The original made his entire family think there were demons among them and went on a killing spree. Logan got caught up in it while Peter and Borden went to rescue Quinn. Peter saw that Bryce never intended to kill Quinn, just use him as bait while he investigated the truth behind Dwight's murder.
Seeing Quinn in good hands, Peter raced back to protect Logan, saving many vampires in the process from the crazed family members of the Eighth house. Logan had gotten injured in the fight and was bleeding. This drew vampires to him in their hunger. Peter protected Logan but had taken so much damage and regenerated so much, his body was consuming itself. He needed food. So, Logan fed his arm to Peter to save them both.
Logan now had plans for a replacement arm. He was looking forward to returning to his lab and experimenting on something he would consider perfect.
While they were gone, Sil had complained, on more than one occasion, that his Lana had been injured and changed and he felt he abandoned her in her hour of need.
Lana chuckled and kissed Sil's temple. "I'm fine, My Love. I've been practicing and getting stronger. The twins are crawling now. Griddlebone is going to have babies any day now. Things are going well. We have a house full of love."
She looked at all those at her table. "Understand, there will be a lot of changes coming. A lot of research needs to be done. Finding my mother's lab was just the first step. I must learn what she knew. I must become The Plantwell as she was, whatever that means. Clearly it means something to the beasts on this planet. I know the Cursed Faction is busy and I won't rely on your aid but I will keep you all informed as I always have."
Peter spoke up, "why does it sound like you're saying goodbye?"
Lana laughed, "I'm not. It's just that I don't get to see you guys much. Peter, I do want to add permissions for you to access the teleporter so you can bring the kids to school if you'd like. You don't need to teach them academics anymore. But they still need your guidance, your mentorships."
"I'll slap anyone who tries to hurt those kids!" Peter said as he imitated a punch into his other hand.
Lana giggled. Peter had a soft spot in his heart still.
"Speaking of kids, where are the twins?" Peter asked.
Lana turned her head toward the playroom. "Caser, can you bring out the babies?"
A moment later, Caser brought one out and Griddlebone brought out the other. Peter hurried from the table to take both kids so he could play with them. This was also the first time they had seen Caser since his evolution as well as the first time they had met his girlfriend. "Everyone, I would like you to meet Griddlebone. She is now part of the family. And yes, they are both king-tier. They have been given a place within our home just as we all have our own space. Soon there will be more babies."
Lana looked at Griddlebone with tenderness in her eyes, "our children are our future. They must be protected." She looked back at the friends around her table. "All of you must be commended for everything you have done to protect the children. To help them. Thank you."
"Actually, while you are all here, could I give you all a tour? So you can see what we've done here?"
They all smiled, Borden offered, "I think we'd all be honored but then we have to get back to our kids. I've missed them very much."
An hour later, the tour was done and they were standing in front of the area for the Blades. Lana left Borden and Peter there and walked Logan to the teleporter. Borden and Peter were told by Sil to stay there overnight and bring the kids back to the ship in the morning. They both nodded before choosing which kids they were going to sneak up on and surprise.
Back in their home, Sil excitedly set the babies down after having taken them back from Uncle Peter. He was most excited to share what he brought back for Lana. When she opened the bag and the case he brought back, each were filled with books. Some were on plants. Others were on the topic of magic.
