Chapter 144 - Rebellion. (2)

Torune's skin turned purple rapidly indicating the spread of the poison contained within his rinkaichu.

He then launched a low kick at Shibi to sweep him off his feet.

Shibi jumped just in time but Torune quickly took advantage of his foster father being in the air to flash him with a quick stomach level punch.

Shibi dodged the punch easily by simply arching his back before spitting out a cloud of insects out of his mouth.

Torune ducked but was ultimately stabbed by the cloud of insects as they began to absorb chakra from his body.

Knowing he couldn't get rid of them through traditional means, Torune used his poison against the insects and caused them to die almost immediately.

But Torune's counter attack didn't stop there. He launched a punch at Shibi's chin.

Shibi's expression however never changed and his treachery was proved in the very next second when Torune's punch connected with his chin without him dodging it.

Shibi's body exploded into several small insects, each forming a dense cloud around Torune before entering through his orifices.

This time the number of insects were far greater than the speed at which they could be killed by poison so they rapidly began to drain Torune of his chakra even as they were dying in hordes.

Shibi was using an insect clone.

Before Torune could react, Shibi already stabbed a kunai right at his neck.

Except he froze.

He saw Torune's helpless expression at the last second.

A sensation of guilt crept up into his very being.

It was the woe of a father and the guilt that he had let Torune take the burden that belonged to his son.

Torune however did not hesitate.

To him Danzo was the greatest thing that had happened to him in his life.

To dethrone Danzo was to spit on the pedestal that held his master.

His life served only one purpose, to take Danzo to the greatest heights possible.

And so he wanted to stop this rebellion that was taking place since he still had hope that Danzo would return to normal once he found the right healers.

Within the instant that Shibi hesitated, Torune acted.

He threw his hands forwards even though they were wrapped in the dense cloud of insects and grabbed Shibi by the neck.

Feeling the threat to his life, Shibi snapped out of his momentary confusion but the damage was done, his neck was infected by Torune's poison.

His kunai still stabbed Torune but Torune had already ensured that his life would be taken.

Shibi choked as poison spread quickly towards his brain and heart, frothing began as he collapsed to the floor along with his adopted son Torune.

Haruto watched the tragedy and then watched progress as the shinobi rebel force marched ahead unhindered and stormed the Hokage office building.

He didn't know what to feel seeing the mostly pointless deaths of the shinobi around him. It had left him speechless.

Shikaku could've just as well lowered the reputation of the village and proclaimed that Danzo had been left disabled by a skilled rouge shinobi.

However, he chose not to do that.

'Do any of you know why he didn't reveal the real reason? Was it just out of pride? I don't think Shikaku would be so short-sighted and get dozens of shinobi killed.'

Unohana frowned and responded first.

'Perhaps it was because he didn't want the village to seem weak at its worst?'

'Weak to protect from who? Ah… I see… the other shinobi villages…' Haruto realised.

Haruto's fist clenched and unclenched repeatedly.

'So even a village as powerful as Konoha has its enemies… it seems that in this world there is always someone above you no matter how high you go.'

'And at the end of it all is the Otsutsuki god, Shibai Otsutsuki.'

Haruto fell silent for a while after that before asking the template inventory residents another question.

'Will every fight of mine against my enemies result in the casualties of unrelated people?'

Haruto didn't know the answer to this question but mostly everyone else in the template inventory space knew well enough.

So they deeply furrowed their brows as they wished not to commit the act of shattering Haruto's dreams and expectations.

In the end it was Grindelwald that stepped forwards to speak, 'This is war my dear boy. And wars have no winners, only losers left with a void in their heart. It robs everyone of something precious.'

Haruto sighed.

He heard the cheers of the shinobi underneath him as the Hokage office was breached and the various clan heads rushed towards the Hokage office and felt a hollow ache in his heart.

Although he hadn't lost anyone in this war personally, he felt like he had lost his innocence.

Danzo was sitting inside it normally, he constantly attempted to scratch his butt, but stopped himself.

Haruto's mind wipe jutsu hadn't failed, it was just that before the rebellion truly started Shisui used his mangekyo sharingan to apply a strong genjutsu to Danzo that would last for a few hours, ergo the rebellion.

"What do you think, Tobirama? Are you satisfied with the outcome of this rebellion?" Haruto asked the people he suspected were stalking him with a sigh.

The rebellion had ended with a resounding success, or so Kakashi thought.

Although he was a little sad at the death of Shibi Aburame, he wasn't too affected. He had been through a whole war between the Shinobi Nations after all.

He was smiling from end to end looking at Danzo who was being paraded down the streets towards the Konoha prisons where he would be kept for the remainder of his life or maybe even moved to a ROOT prison.

The ROOT shinobi were either killed or captured.

Those captured would be tested personally by Inoichi to see if they could be conditioned to join the normal work force soon enough, or if they would have to be retired.

"What do you think, Tsunade-sama?" Kakashi asked as he turned around to look at Tsunade who was staring at the graves the living had started to dig.

There was a peculiar expression on Tsunade's face that Kakashi very easily identified, after all he had that very same expression in front of the memorial stone quite often.

It was the expression of guilt and disappointment.

"Do you think if I did not have hemophobia that I could've saved all of them, Kakashi?"

Kakashi was about to give a perfunctory answer but then paused when he saw a serious look in Tsunade's eyes as if she was about to decide something that truly mattered to her.

So Kakashi quietly pulled out his most reliable book and spoke while reading it to not seem too serious with his words.

"What matters is not if you could Tsunade-sama… it is how much you wanted to and if that is enough to make you do it."

Tsunade's nose turned slightly red at those words before she sniffled softly and nodded, "Alright, let's go to a casino to celebrate the ending of the rebellion!"

"Tsunade-sama!! We don't have enough money anymore!!" Shizune suddenly shouted from the sides.

"Huh!? What happened to the money that idiot won!?" Tsunade asked, puzzled.

Shizune scratched her face before she said with a sigh… "I had to give it back to the Casino Tsunade-sama… after all we took it by cheating…"

"Shizune!" Tsunade shouted with a pained heart. Sometimes this little tail of hers didn't seem to have any sense of the ways of the world at all and that was truly frustrating.
