Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 I'm fighting Aizen? Really?

"Kido is a high-ranked spell that only we Shinigami can use."

"Based on the nature and function of Kidō, it is further divided into three types: Hadō, Bakudō, and Kaidō."

"From a macro perspective, Kidō is the manipulation and reuse of one's own spiritual pressure and the spiritual particles in the atmosphere. Because of this, it tests the user's ability to control spiritual particles."

"As we all know, the higher the number of a Kidō technique, the harder and more powerful it is to use, and it requires greater control over spiritual particles. Teachers must constantly emphasize this point when instructing students."

"…"

"That's all I wish to say for today. Thank you for listening."

At that moment, the classroom of the training class was full of people. Matsumoto Rangiku, in the role of Kidō instructor, was seriously speaking about her understanding of Kidō, and it all truly seemed to make sense.

The teachers from the Spiritual Arts Academy seemed to have returned to their student days and listened attentively to the lecture, even though much of it they couldn't fully comprehend.

After all, this knowledge was coming from the mouth of a vice-captain. Even if Rangiku simplified a lot, it was still beyond what was considered common knowledge for this group.

But that didn't stop them from rewarding her with strong applause.

"Thank you, Vice-Captain Matsumoto, for the wonderful lecture. Next, let us invite the captain of the Fifth Division, Captain Aizen Sōsuke, to give us a kendo class!" The host, Mitsunobu Shibato, announced the name of the next lecturer.

Applause once again echoed through the audience, even stronger than before.

Aizen, called by name, calmly stepped onto the stage, looked at everyone present with a gentle smile, which again caused sighs and excitement among many Shinigami, especially the women.

"Thank you all for your support. Although I reached the rank of captain through my own efforts, I still have many shortcomings. I hope that in the upcoming courses, we can learn from each other and progress together."

Rangiku returned to her seat with mixed feelings. "As expected of Captain Aizen, he can remain completely composed under the eyes of so many people." Although she hadn't shown it on her face while she stood on the podium herself earlier, internally she had been very nervous.

In contrast, Captain Aizen was completely calm, without the slightest trace of pressure.

As she thought about this, Rangiku's gaze unconsciously drifted to the other male vice-captain at the table, Ichimaru Gin.

Suddenly, she remembered the gossip she had heard a few days earlier while chatting with her own captain.

"I heard that the talented vice-captain of the Fifth Division will soon be promoted to captain of the Third Division."

She had only recently become a vice-captain, and he was already moving on to become a captain…

Was this fate at play? Rangiku couldn't help but smile with a hint of bitterness.

At that moment, Aizen on the podium had already begun his lecture.

However, in the middle of his explanation, he paused briefly, as if suddenly remembering something important. "Kendo classes are somewhat different from Kidō classes. They require both theoretical learning and practical training. If we limit the class to empty talk, the quality of teaching will naturally be unsatisfactory."

Vice President Shibato, who was standing to the side, shuddered when he heard that. He had lived for nearly a thousand years; of course, he immediately understood the hidden meaning in Aizen's words. He instantly jumped in and said: "Captain Aizen, don't worry. I will immediately organize a group of students to come here and ensure that your class can proceed smoothly!"

Aizen looked momentarily surprised at Shibato Mitsunobu's ability to adapt to the situation, then offered his own suggestion. "Vice President Shibato, I heard that the Spiritual Arts Academy recently established a Kendo Club. I wonder if we could invite students from the Kendo Club to participate?"

"Teaching alongside students skilled in kendo will surely yield better results."

Hearing this, Shibato Mitsunobu immediately grasped Aizen's intent. "Of course, there's no problem at all. Captain Aizen, sir, please rest briefly. I will bring them right away."

Soon, Shibato Mitsunobu found Arata, who was resting in a nearby classroom, and informed him that the training class wished to invite members of the Kendo Club to attend the kendo class.

Arata had originally been thinking of what excuse to come up with to ask Mitsunobu to let him attend the seminar, but he hadn't expected someone to practically "put a pillow under his head as he was falling asleep." He accepted without hesitation and called Renji and the others.

They didn't have regular classes today anyway, so it was perfectly convenient to go along with Arata and broaden their horizons.

Going in alone would naturally cause some nervousness. When he led Renji and the others, it not only eased the pressure but also gave a chance to trigger the system's fate judgment, one act, double the benefit.

"Vice President Shibato, who's the lecturer for the kendo class?"

"Excellent question. None other than the captain of the Fifth Division, Mr. Aizen Sōsuke."

"…"

Arata, who had been in a cheerful mood just a second earlier, suddenly wore a face like that of a grim general.

"Senior Arata? Why do you suddenly look a little pale?" Renji approached and nudged him with his elbow. "Did you get scared as soon as you heard it was Captain Aizen?"

"Senior Arata, don't worry. I've heard from the older students that Captain Aizen is very gentle and approachable. Even when juniors in his division make mistakes, he just gives them a few words of advice." Hinamori Momo noticed Arata's silence and quickly tried to reassure him.

Vice President Shibato didn't pay attention to these details. He simply clapped his hands and hurried them along: "Quickly, go inside. We mustn't let the captains wait."

When the members of the Kendo Club entered the classroom of the training class, nearly a hundred gazes simultaneously turned toward them.

Arata walked in front. He saw Aizen standing at the center of the podium. In the brown eyes behind the glass of his spectacles, there was a mysterious smile, sharp like a scalpel, as if piercing through his skin and directly into his soul.

"I didn't expect that Saito was also a member of the Kendo Club." Aizen's voice, warm as a spring breeze, filled the entire room.

"Captain Aizen, your information is a bit outdated. Saito is not just a member of the Kendo Club, he's also the founder of the Kendo Club." Shibato Mitsunobu laughed and announced the news to Aizen and the other Shinigami present.

"What? The founder of the Kendo Club is actually a student?"

"I thought some instructor from the Shin'ō Spiritual Arts Academy had founded it, never would've guessed this was possible."

"Hey, hey, hey, are you sure you're not just playing some childish game?"

The classroom was instantly filled with gasps of surprise.

"Truly surprising. Even when I was studying at the Spiritual Arts Academy, I didn't have the ability to pull something like that off." Aizen clapped, openly expressing his admiration for Arata's achievement.

"Captain Aizen, you exaggerate. These were just some ideas that came to me out of boredom. Compared to you, I'm still very far behind." Arata shook his head. Aizen's tone gave him a sense of discomfort.

"Excessive modesty isn't a virtue." Aizen removed his white haori and handed it to the assistant instructor beside him, revealing his slim figure in his shihakushō. "Saito-san, Vice President Shibato has probably already explained what you'll be doing, hasn't he?"

"Of course. A practical demonstration in the kendo class."

"Excellent. Then why don't we begin the demonstration right away?"

Rangiku suddenly stood up from her seat. "Captain Aizen, I think a classroom demonstration should be gradual." She glanced toward Arata. "If we immediately allow a captain-level Shinigami to lead a combat demonstration with a student, maybe that's still a bit…"

"Vice-Captain Matsumoto is worrying too much." The gentle voice of Unohana Retsu rang out from the back row. "Didn't Captain Yamamoto personally lead Captain Zaraki's training back in the day? Captain Aizen, of course, knows his limits."

"Captain Unohana…" After being stopped by Unohana Retsu, Rangiku no longer dared to say anything, but she still felt a strange discomfort in her chest. She herself didn't even understand where that concern was coming from.

Arata took a deep breath and walked with Aizen to the practice area, spinning the wooden sword in his palm and drawing beautiful flower-like arcs in the air with its blade.

"Captain Aizen, I humbly ask for your guidance."
