Chapter 456: Luke vs. H'el

Witnessing the Doom

Disasters always strike without warning; no one could have anticipated such a terrifying catastrophe on a sunny afternoon.

The shuttle landed in the most prosperous and central area of Metropolis.

Thanks to the sheer size of the Daily Planet building, Lois Lane and her colleagues, who were at work, were not caught in the direct radius of the Gravity Field. They stood on the rooftop, faces pale, looking into the distance.

The city was consumed by dust. Even from far away, they could hear the mournful cries of the people.

The giant shuttle hung suspended in the sky. The white beam of light it emitted pierced everyone's hearts like a sharp sword. Buildings were collapsing one after another. It was impossible not to imagine how many innocent citizens were being buried under the rubble.

Lois covered her mouth, her eyes filled with boundless sorrow.

The others also lowered their heads, silently distraught.

Feeling the pain of others, the fear of their own impending death.

Those who haven't experienced a disaster cannot comprehend the helplessness and desolation of the moment.

"Is that the Kryptonian spaceship?"

Someone asked, and a silence descended. Superman and the Kryptonian general Zod had been the hot news topic recently. Zod had threatened war, but many media outlets thought he was joking. No one expected the war to actually arrive.

Unlike previous conflicts, this was a clash between two civilizations—a fight to the death.

"Should we still report on Superman?"

Lois looked up and said clearly, "We cannot blame this on him. Can't you see? He's fighting the Kryptonians; he's on our side."

"But..."

A colleague hesitated. "He's also Kryptonian. Didn't Zod come to Earth because of him?"

The question left Lois speechless. In a way, the origin of the war was indeed Clark; if he hadn't come to Earth, this series of troubles wouldn't have happened.

"No, I can't think that way."

Lois forced herself to calm down, refusing to look at the problem through the inverse logic of causality.

Suddenly, a black shadow appeared in the sky—an unimaginably huge spaceship.

A blinding blue light was condensing in the main cannon at the bottom of the ship, more dazzling than the sun itself.

Many people saw this, including Lex Luthor, who had rushed to Metropolis. He was highly knowledgeable about alien technology and knew exactly what such a gigantic muzzle meant.

"A Planet Buster!"

"It's a Planet Buster!"

Lex didn't hesitate; he turned and ran.

Before a Planet Buster cannon, all beings are equal. No matter your lineage or background, one shot and everyone dies.

He was here to scout the enemy, not to commit suicide.

Damn Kryptonians! They actually brought a Planet Buster!

H'el's Arrival

The cannon muzzle was aimed at the shuttle's location. The blue light continuously compressed inward, resembling a blue black hole that was ceaselessly devouring energy.

"He's insane!"

"They're all insane!"

Faora screamed in distress. "Stop it! Don't let it fire! Quick! Stop it!"

She always considered herself a madwoman, but she never imagined the Earthlings were even crazier. They were using a Planet Buster! Didn't they understand the fundamental damage a Planet Buster would inflict on a planet?

"It's you, Kara! You're controlling it, aren't you?"

Linda spat out a mouthful of blood.

"You finally know fear."

"You started this war! If we die, we all die together!"

Faora was intimidated by her fury and subconsciously took a step back. The other Kryptonians wanted to stop the ship but couldn't. The surrounding gravity was too strong; even a full jump could barely cover a hundred meters—they couldn't reach the ship.

The distant Clark and Zod also saw the scene and flew toward it desperately, but were blocked by the Conqueror' force field. As the cannon's light grew more intense, everyone instinctively closed their eyes, awaiting despair.

Zod let out a roar of grief and indignation, punching the force field repeatedly. He had accounted for everything, except that his opponent would use a Planet Buster for a dimension-level attack.

One shot from that cannon would destroy his comrades, his dreams, and his hope.

Death was imminent, but no one noticed a figure appear beneath the main cannon. Gray-blue hair fluttered wildly. It was H'el, who had not shown himself until now.

"The dream of Krypton cannot end here."

H'el opened his right hand. Telekinesis enveloped the highly compressed energy mass, simultaneously permeating and drawing it away.

Having cultivated his telekinesis to its limit, H'el possessed not only powers like teleportation, object manipulation, mental transfer, and mental dissection, but also an unparalleled ability to control energy.

Only he could dismantle the energy of the Planet Buster, reducing everything to nothingness.

The building-sized energy mass rapidly shrank, quickly turning into tiny specks of starlight and vanishing. The overflowing blue energy formed a free-floating cloud that was extraordinarily dazzling in the sunlight.

"It vanished."

Faora was shocked and overjoyed. Worthy of being the strongest Kryptonian! He managed to extinguish a Planet Buster!

Linda stared intently at the sky.

"H'el, you finally showed up."

Diana also noticed the mysterious man who had appeared just in time. She couldn't help but ask,

"Who is he? An enemy? Or a friend?"

"An enemy. A very dangerous enemy."

Diana's heart sank. Linda was already so strong, yet she referred to this person as "very dangerous." Just how powerful must the mysterious man be?

The next second, the figure in the sky vanished. He reappeared behind the Martian Manhunter in a bizarre flash, delivering a roundhouse kick that sent him flying hundreds of meters, slamming into the ruins. H'el flashed again, appearing in front of Diana. He delivered the same attack: simple, direct, yet possessing unrivaled speed and power.

Bang!

Diana's abdomen suffered a heavy blow, and she flew straight backward. Before she could hit the ground, a shadow appeared beneath her.

"Watch out behind you!"

Linda screamed, but it was too late. H'el, who had appeared behind Diana, raised his left hand. An energy vortex condensed in his palm, emitting a suffocating energy fluctuation.

"Farewell, Earth's champion."

As his palm chopped down, it suddenly stopped in Diana's desperate sight.

A red-armored figure appeared in front of her, blocking the swirling energy cyclone. Luke Shaw looked up and said clearly, word for word,

"I've been waiting for you, H'el."

H'el frowned. "Luke Shaw?"

The answer was a heavy punch. The fist, enveloped in green flame, dealt dual damage to both body and soul. H'el reacted too slowly and was immediately blasted away.

Diana gasped in surprise. "Luke?"

Luke nodded slightly. "H'el is mine. You and Linda deal with the other Kryptonians."

"You... can you handle him?"

She had personally experienced H'el's power. His strength and speed were top-tier, and he possessed energy manipulation and teleportation abilities. How could an ordinary man deal with a monster like that?

Luke didn't reply. His floating armor emitted a faint spatial ripple. A flash of red light and he appeared behind the scientist Edwin. His hand gently rested on the Kryptonian's back.

Boom!

Green flame surged out, exploding inside him. The fire's shockwave rippled outward, and a sliver of soul drifted away on the wind.

Luke grabbed Edwin's corpse and casually tossed it onto the ground.

In that moment, time seemed to stop. Everyone's eyes were wide, filled with unconcealed horror.
