Chapter 549 - Chapter 549: The Conversation About Colorful Flags

Chapter 549: The Conversation About Colorful Flags

Chaos at Shaw Manor

Luke grabbed An'an's ear and gave him a harsh dressing-down. After the scolding, An'an, the male dog, understood his tragic fate: he walked between the two women, obediently acting as a living shield.

With Carol's arrival, the temperature in the manor plummeted.

Even an idiot could see the tension between the two women. Carol, known for her intelligence and elegance, was uncharacteristically aggressive, constantly asserting her position as the mistress of the house. Linda was furious, her face dark, barely restraining herself from fighting.

Luke, stuck in the middle, suffered the most. He couldn't sit or stand comfortably, and he received scowls everywhere he went. Even his usually doting grandfather wore a grim expression, snapping his cane loudly.

Luke realized he couldn't stay home. After Christmas, he called up Billy, Wang Hu, Dio, Wu Yue, and others to bathe at an upscale club.

The group of friends ate, drank, and had a wonderful time until late at night before dispersing.

The Grandfather's Test

Tipsy, Luke returned home. Greeting him was not the two German Shepherds, but his grim-faced grandfather.

Luke instantly sobered up. He whispered, "It's windy out here. You should go inside."

"Come with me."

Oh!

Luke obediently nodded and followed his grandfather into the car. They left Shaw Manor and only stopped in the suburbs. The old man asked the driver to buy coffee, then turned to Luke, his expression serious.

"They almost came to blows. Do you know that?"

Luke guiltily looked away. "I wasn't home today."

"You weren't home, but I was."

The old man was furious, banging his cane hard, making a loud thudding sound. "How do you plan to handle this? Drag it out, or find a solution?"

Luke was torn. He countered, "What do you think I should do?"

"You bastard!"

"You caused this mess yourself, and you dare ask me? Is this something I can handle? I'm your grandfather, not your ancestor! If you actually listened to me, you wouldn't have turned out this way." He paused, then said with a complex expression,

"Ultimately, it's my fault. I spoiled you too much, indulging your every whim. If I had been heartless enough to send you to school back then, you wouldn't have become this way."

Luke felt awkward and ashamed. He opened his mouth but remained silent.

Seeing his silence, the old man cursed internally. This little brat is clueless! Say something! If you don't take a stance, how can Grandpa step down?

Three kilometers from the car, two figures hovered in the sky. One listened intently to the conversation inside the car, while the other used superpowers to gather the car's sounds directly into their ear.

Changlin Shaw, having navigated the underworld for decades, was an extremely shrewd man. He knew the capabilities of the two girls and knew that as soon as he called his precious grandson out for a talk, the two girls would definitely eavesdrop.

The stage was set, waiting for Luke to speak. If he just chose one, the issue would be perfectly resolved, and even if there was conflict, they wouldn't fully fall out. Yet, the brat refused to say a word.

The old man tightened his grip on his cane, then released it. He realized the boy not only wanted to be a playboy but the King of Playboys.

Two flags in the house: one Red Flag (the legal wife), one Colorful Flag (the mistress).

"Fine, have it your way!"

The old man took a deep breath and shouted at the driver a short distance away,

"Old Qi, let's go home."

The car started and returned to the manor. The figures hovering in the distance also disappeared.

The King of Playboys

Luke quickly cast an air membrane inside the car and said with a flattering smile,

"Grandpa, thank you just now."

"Thank me for what? Nothing to thank me for," the old man grumbled testily, poking the membrane in front of him. "What is this thing?"

"To prevent others from eavesdropping."

The old man immediately understood. "So you knew they were following all along."

Luke gave an awkward laugh, avoiding the question. He then said,

"Since you asked, I'll be honest. The others are manageable, but I'm not giving up either Carol or Linda."

"You're actually planning to sleep with them both?"

"It's not about sleeping with them both; it's that I can't bear to let either go."

"Stop with the useless talk. In the end, it all comes down to greed. Greed knows no bounds—what did I teach you when you were young?" He paused, then reprimanded him sternly.

"You can be greedy, but you must know the situation. Some things you can be greedy for, you must be greedy for; if you're not, others will take what's yours. But some things are absolutely forbidden. Given your current wealth and status, having two wives is nothing, but why must you choose them?"

He sighed deeply.

"One is a well-born heiress worth billions and has superpowers. The other has an even bigger background; she's a Kryptonian. Neither of those girls is easy to mess with! You're dancing on the edge of a knife! If conflict breaks out in the future, what then? They'll beat you to death."

Luke mumbled,

"I'm not as weak as you think."

The old man glared at him sideways. "You think you're that incredible?"

Luke immediately shut up, wisely backing down.

The old man huffed, disappointed but ultimately compromised. "Tell me, how will you handle it?"

"I'll stall for now."

"Stall until when?"

"We'll see."

The old man was speechless.

"Old Qi, stop the car."

The confused driver stopped the car. The old man opened the car door.

"Get out!"

"Grandpa!"

Luke's face was full of pleading, but the old man was unmoved, his eyes glaring like copper bells. He was truly angry.

Left with no choice, Luke reluctantly got out of the car. The sedan sped away and vanished around the corner, leaving the young man shivering in the cold wind.

At this moment, Luke finally understood why there were so many single-female lead novels.

It was almost eleven at night. The streets were deserted, not a soul in sight. After pondering for a moment, Luke gave up the idea of flying home and decided to walk alone on the sparsely populated street.

Since the Young Masters Gang was established, Coast City's public safety had improved significantly, but this was still the US; robbery and theft were practically traditional culture.

It wasn't long before Luke was spotted. Two clueless petty thieves pointed guns at him. Before they could speak, their bodies were sent flying backward, slamming heavily against a wall.

Luke picked up a handgun and aimed at their thighs.

Bang! Bang!

Muffled screams of pain echoed in the alley. The two thieves cursed and tried to crawl away.

"What are your names? Who do you work for?"

"Never mind, I'm not interested in knowing."

The gun fired again. Six bullets hit their four limbs. Blood poured out profusely. The two thieves screamed for mercy, their eyes filled with despair.

Luke walked up to them, pulled four hundred dollars from his pocket.

"Listen up. Don't let me see you again. Understand?"

The two nodded frantically, their faces terrifyingly pale.

"Boring guys."

Luke dropped the handgun and walked away.

He continued his walk, stopping and starting. Countless ignorant, stupid thieves became targets for Luke to vent his frustration. The several thousand dollars in his pocket were completely distributed. Just as he was about to head home, a green light appeared in front of him.
