Chapter 19 - Seeing Tanjiro Again

In the end, Lexon casually stuffed the dying Gyokko into a burlap sack, tied it up tightly, slung it over his back, and that was that.

The moment before walking out of the hall, Lexon suddenly remembered something.

'Ah... speaking of which, what should I do about those fainted or currently confused people of the Shika family...'

'Forget it. I'll just tell Tazuko Hayakawa and let them handle it.'

Lexon planned to just dump the matter on the Demon Slayer Corps' logistics team.

...

"That's basically the situation. I'll leave it to you," Lexon said to Hayakawa, the burlap sack on his back.

To keep it brief, he had roughly explained that Masakazu Shika had been entangled with a demon, their cooperation had failed, he was silenced by the demon, and the demon had also been slain.

"Understood." Tazuko Hayakawa bowed respectfully yet again.

She was very surprised at this moment.

She hadn't even reached the Shika family estate yet, and the matter was already concluded. While marveling at his strength, the respect in her heart inevitably deepened.

Lexon smiled kindly and then departed using his breathing technique.

Following the scent of people, Lexon arrived at the bustling center of the capital.

The Taisho period of this island nation was a stable time, presenting a prosperous and thriving scene.

There was a diverse array of shops, and even though it was approaching evening, the streets were still brightly lit and bustling with people.

Lexon found a food stall, paid, and ordered a bowl of soba noodles to fill his stomach.

Eating the food prepared by the logistics team all the time could get tiresome.

Gyokko in the sack seemed to become somewhat agitated, perhaps because they had arrived in a crowded place.

However, after Lexon punched the sack a few times, he quieted down.

After finishing one bowl, Lexon felt he wasn't full, so he ordered another.

"Ah!..."

A shout suddenly came from the street outside the shop.

A series of chaotic noises followed, as if a disturbance had broken out.

Lexon drained the noodle broth and put down his bowl and chopsticks.

His nose twitched, and a look of surprise appeared on his face.

'It's Tanjiro's scent.'

'What a coincidence.'

While on the mission, although Lexon had thought about seeing Tanjiro if it was convenient, he never expected to run into him by chance while eating a bowl of noodles.

'Hmm? The scent of demons?'

Lexon then smelled the scent of three demons, plus one that appeared abruptly.

The scent that appeared abruptly was very sudden, as if it had materialized out of thin air.

Walking out the door, he found that the street was already surrounded by a crowd of onlookers.

So Lexon used his strength to squeeze his way in. When he encountered a few people who made rude remarks, he knocked them out with a single punch.

Seeing this, the crowd hurriedly made way for this terrifying fellow.

But just as Lexon saw a demon struggling and howling in pain on the ground and Tanjiro pinning it down, a fragrant aroma suddenly drifted over, and everything around him seemed to become dreamlike, with butterflies and flowers fluttering about.

Blood Bewitchment: Aroma of Visual Fantasy.

As the fragrance spread, the spirits and consciousness of the passersby seemed to be mesmerized. Their eyes became hazy, and their bodies swayed.

"A Blood Demon Art?"

Lexon's willpower was strong, and he was only slightly affected by this Blood Demon Art, only seeing some strange images.

He looked in the direction from which the technique was being released.

Two people were standing there: a woman in a kimono who was slitting her own arm with her finger, drawing blood, and a green-haired boy in a kimono.

A thought moved in Lexon's mind. These two were two of the three demons he had smelled earlier.

An image from his memory surfaced.

'Tamayo and Yushiro.'

'Two demons who can survive without eating humans.'

'They are also good demons who stand with humanity to contribute to the defeat of Muzan.'

Lexon realized that this scene was the moment Tanjiro first met Muzan.

At this time, Muzan, hiding among ordinary people, had been discovered by Tanjiro.

Alarmed by the Sun Breathing earrings Tanjiro wore, he had created a diversion by randomly choosing a passerby and turning them into a demon to delay Tanjiro while he left.

He had left Tanjiro behind to be questioned by law enforcement while restraining the newly turned person.

'Then the last scent I smelled before was Muzan's.'

Lexon thought.

"Even when faced with someone who has turned into a 'demon,' you still use the word 'person'..." Tamayo approached Tanjiro and said calmly.

Tanjiro's actions and words had touched her heart, which was why she had stepped in to help.

This boy made her feel the emotion of being "moved."

"And you still intend to help him. In that case, allow me to help you as well," Tamayo said elegantly, the wound on her hand from using her Blood Demon Art healing in an instant.

"Why? You're..." Tanjiro asked, puzzled.

He had already smelled the demonic scent emanating from the person before him and realized their identity.

"That's right. I... am both a demon and a doctor," Tamayo stated her identity directly, paused, and then continued, "And I wish to erase that man, Kibutsuji."

Her words were full of determination.

Tamayo had once been turned into a demon by Muzan and, in a fit of madness, killed her own husband and son. Because she was a doctor, she was kept by Muzan's side. She had also lost herself and harmed humans, but later, when Muzan was seriously injured by the powerful Sun Breathing user from centuries ago, Yoriichi Tsugikuni, she took the opportunity to escape Muzan's control and made it her goal to kill him.

"Me too."

Lexon, who had been observing from the side, suddenly spoke up.

"Who's there?!"

Yushiro was startled. Hearing the voice, he subconsciously shielded Lady Tamayo.

'Someone was unaffected by Lady Tamayo's Blood Demon Art?'

Tamayo was also a little surprised and couldn't help but look at Lexon.

Loose-fitting long clothes, bangs that slightly covered his eyebrows and eyes, somewhat delicate features, and deep, cold eyes.

He was carrying a burlap sack slung over his back and had a long sword hanging at his waist.

The moment she saw the long sword, Tamayo recognized it as a Nichirin Sword. After all, she had dealt with people from the Demon Slayer Corps for quite some time.

'Is he also a member of the Demon Slayer Corps...'

'But the attitude of some Demon Slayer Corps members towards demons...'

"I am a demon," Tamayo stated her identity again.

She wanted to see his reaction.

If a direct conflict were to arise, given that he was unaffected by her Blood Demon Art, it meant his strength was bound to be great. In a conflict, she and Yushiro would definitely be no match and could only flee.

'But in that case... I won't be able to with this child...'

Tamayo subtly glanced at Tanjiro out of the corner of her eye.

But she found that he was looking at the suddenly appeared Demon Slayer Corps member with a pleasantly surprised expression.

'They know each other?'

"Lexon!" Tanjiro said with pleasant surprise.

'They really do know each other.'

'It seems a conflict is unlikely.'

Tamayo's anxious heart began to calm down, but she still maintained a basic level of vigilance.

"Long time no see, Tanjiro," Lexon first greeted Tanjiro, then said to Tamayo, "I know you're a demon, but I'm not the type who holds a 'must-kill' policy towards all demons, so you don't need to worry."

He maintained a gentle smile on his face, appearing very friendly.

Hearing this, Tamayo said politely, "In that case, would you two be willing to come with me?"

As soon as her voice fell, Yushiro whispered a suggestion to Tamayo from behind her, "Lady Tamayo, that guy's smile makes me very uncomfortable. We can't trust him so easily."

In response to this, Tamayo only shook her head at Yushiro.
