Chapter 287 - Vaccine Man

Saitama really couldn't understand the strangeness of a human being able to fly.

"Consider it a natural talent," Lexon replied with a smile.

He couldn't exactly tell Saitama that after reaching the Six Paths level in the Naruto world and mastering it, he had gained the ability to float without relying on Six Paths Mode.

So, he gave that evasive reason instead.

However, this excuse didn't cause Saitama any further doubt.

After all, this world was inherently absurd; all sorts of strange monsters had appeared... Saitama himself had become so strong at the cost of his hair, and even his emotions were gradually fading away...

Having grown accustomed to such things, Saitama believed Lexon's words.

"I see... that's pretty nice. I'd like to fly too." Saitama's tone carried a hint of envy.

Although he could jump to places that flight might not even reach... the concept of free flight and jumping were completely different.

If one could be a hero who soared freely through the sky and made a cool mid-air entrance in an emergency... who would want to be a hero who looked so pathetic running to the scene on two legs? Being bald already made him look a bit uncool...

"If there's a chance, I can take you flying so you can experience it," Lexon said with a smile.

"Really? Then I'm counting on you." Saitama was quite interested.

The conversation ended within a few minutes, and at their speed, they soon arrived in City A.

The two didn't need to specifically search for the direction where the monster had appeared.

It was obvious; that area was being blasted to smithereens.

"Die! Die! Die!!" Before they even got close, accompanied by violent explosions, an incredibly arrogant shouting could already be heard.

The one making the noise was a humanoid creature.

A tall, muscular body, purple skin, and two antennae on its forehead, like a color-swapped "King Piccolo."

It was floating in mid-air, continuously throwing energy balls with intense destructive power at the city's buildings.

'To curb humanity's continued pollution of the environment, a Dragon-level monster derived from the will of the Earth... Vaccine Man, huh...'

Lexon thought to himself while looking at the figure in the air.

He had quite a deep impression of this monster.

After all, its origin had some logic to it...

Although in the end, this monster was still killed by Saitama in one punch...

Its screen time was only about a few minutes...

"Leave that guy to me, Saitama." To prevent Saitama from stealing the kill, Lexon spoke up first.

"Is that okay? Lexon, that guy looks pretty strong," Saitama reminded him.

He didn't want his new neighbor to suddenly pass away.

Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to eat such delicious meals in the future.

"It's no problem, leave it to me," Lexon replied with a smile. "Saitama, why don't you go find and protect the citizens who got caught up in this?"

"Alright, I'll leave it to you then." Saitama naturally wouldn't refuse a request from a new neighbor who had shown him much kindness.

Besides, he would keep an eye on things here and step in if the other couldn't handle it and was about to get into trouble.

With him watching over, nothing would go wrong.

While they were talking, they had already approached Vaccine Man. When Vaccine Man saw two humans suddenly appear, it frowned.

Its own instincts told it that these two humans were not ordinary, so it didn't throw energy balls as casually as before, maintaining a certain level of alertness.

"Are you heroes too?" Vaccine Man's feminine voice came from its mouth.

"Yeah, a hero for fun," Saitama replied with a dull expression on his egg-like bald head.

"Tsk... what a haphazard setting... heroes came here to die just now... I don't even know where they were blown off to..." Vaccine Man said.

Next, it pointed a sharp finger at the two of them. Veins on its face and body bulged, displaying a terrifying aura as it recited: "I am Vaccine Man, born from the planet in response to humanity's continuous pollution of the environment. You Earthlings are pathogens eroding the life of the planet! To eliminate you pathogens and the civilization you've created, I was born here by the will of the planet! You all must die!!!"

As it spoke, Vaccine Man's body grew even taller, sharp fangs sprouted from its mouth, and sharp armor appeared on its skin. Its eyes glowed red, radiating a staggering power and bloodlust.

It seemed the second transformation boosted its confidence along with its strength. It swung an incredibly massive claw, lunging at Lexon and Saitama, intending to crush them into meat pies.

"Lexon?" Saitama glanced at Lexon.

"Yeah," Lexon responded and pulled the Nichirin Sword from his space ring.

To deal with an enemy of this level, Breathing Styles and a Nichirin Sword were enough.

Water Breathing, First Form: Water Surface Slice.

This time, he didn't even speak the name of the technique.

As the Nichirin Sword swung in a trajectory that seemed both slow and fast... a shimmer of flowing water flashed by, and the faint sound of running water echoed in the ear.

A simple ripple expanded outward.

It swept diagonally across Vaccine Man's now stiff body, past the top corners of distant skyscrapers, and through the thick clouds high in the sky.

It abruptly tore a gap in the clouds.

Sunlight spilled through...

In this scene, the immense power of that strike was revealed...

Lexon's Nichirin Sword gradually lowered; it seemed everything was over.

"How... is... this... possible..." Vaccine Man seemed to realize its final fate and what had happened to its body, its stuttering words filled with disbelief.

Soon after, the upper half of Vaccine Man's body gradually separated from the rest, slowly sliding off and revealing a smooth cut...

With a "thud."

Vaccine Man's body was sliced in half diagonally and fell to the ground, creating a loud noise as it hit with a gust of wind.

The wind brushed Lexon's and Saitama's clothes, Lexon's bangs, and Saitama's completely bare head...

"Wow." Saitama let out a sound of surprise as he looked at Lexon.

Why did his neighbor hero look so cool...?

Even though they both finished enemies in one move... why did the gap between them look so large...?

Was it the clothes? Should he also wear a mysterious long black outfit like that in the future?

But a cape plus a bodysuit, gloves, and long boots were the standard for heroes... right?

Saitama's mind was flooded with nonsensical thoughts.

"Anyway, Lexon, your strength is quite impressive, isn't it?" Saitama said to Lexon.

"It's alright. If it were you, it would have been the same result—killing it in one move," Lexon replied, putting the Nichirin Sword back into the space ring.

"That's true..." Saitama replied with his arms crossed.

He was quite clear about his own strength.

"Then let's head back since it's over," Saitama suggested to Lexon. "Let's go back and play video games."

"You go back first; I still have something to do," Lexon told Saitama.

"Oh, okay." Saitama didn't ask further. He gave Lexon a wave and left.

At this point, Saitama didn't know about the existence of the Hero Association, nor did he know that killing monsters provided merit and seniority. He basically just went wherever the news said a monster was, and left after solving the problem.

Because of this, all previous credit had been taken by an ordinary man with the hero name "King," causing "King" to rise directly to the 7th rank of S-Class heroes and be known as the "Strongest Man on Earth."

However, Lexon's purpose for staying was not to take credit...

But...

Lexon approached Vaccine Man's corpse and placed his hand on its head.

Suddenly, a mysterious power emanated from Lexon's arm.

Then, the scene around Lexon changed abruptly, turning completely white.

"Let's see what this is." As Lexon murmured, his fingers moved as if plucking non-existent strings.

As Lexon's fingers moved, clear images gradually emerged from the surrounding void.

This was an extremely familiar ability.

One that Lexon had encountered before...

An ability obtained by signing in from that female Reincarnator, "Number Three."

The ability to read memories.

Lexon's current goal was to look through Vaccine Man's memories to find information about that so-called "will of the planet."

Thereby obtaining information related to this world...

Information about things like how monsters appear, which was both curious and concerning...
