Chapter 289 - Claiming Credit

In reality, Lexon stood by the corpse of the deceased Vaccine Man, withdrew his hand, and retracted the smile from his face.

Then, he looked up at the sky and pondered.

Should he go up and suppress 'God' right now?

He already knew its approximate location...

'Better to leave it for now... It's better if it feels threatened and tries its best to create more monsters for me to deal with.'

'After all, a pig being chased isn't as motivated as one working for its own survival...'

'The location won't be lost anyway... It will stay right where it is...'

'Saitama hasn't finished signing in yet... There's no need to handle two sign-in targets at the same time.'

Soon, Lexon made his decision.

He planned to spare 'God' for a while.

Besides, this character was needed to serve as a foil for parts of the future plot.

"Why is it you again!" Suddenly, Lexon heard a familiar, arrogant loli voice coming from high in the sky.

Lexon looked over.

Sure enough, a petite girl shrouded in a green glow was hovering high in the air, looking at him with impatience.

"Why do you always have to snatch my missions! Watch out, or I'll crush you!" The girl looked annoyed, shaking her fist at Lexon while shouting.

Even though Tornado was no longer a child, her words and behavior were just like one...

"Because I'm a hero now too." Lexon smiled as he pulled out the hero license sent by the Hero Association, opened it, and showed it to Tornado. "So, fighting monsters is my duty as well."

"That mission wasn't even assigned to you... You're just meddling! I came all this way for nothing!" Tornado crossed her arms and spoke huffily, clearly still unhappy.

"If possible, I'd like to ask Miss Tornado to help me apply for the credit for this time and the last time." Since the second-ranked S-Class hero was here, Lexon decided to ask for a favor.

With her as a witness, the credit for killing two Dragon-level monsters would be guaranteed.

The main quest to become an A-Class hero could then be completed naturally.

The credit from two Dragon-level kills was more than enough to even become an S-Class hero.

However... Lexon didn't have any intention of completing the main quest immediately.

He knew that once the main quest was finished, he wouldn't be able to stay in this world for long... and once he left, he wouldn't be able to return unless he turned this world into his personal territory...

So, Lexon just wanted these two achievements recorded in his hero file.

As for the promotion exam to become an A-Class hero... he wouldn't take it.

If he didn't take the exam, he could stay in B-Class indefinitely.

Sweet Mask at the top of A-Class and Hellish Blizzard at the top of B-Class did the exact same thing.

However, given Tornado's arrogant personality, she naturally wouldn't give Lexon the answer he wanted after he had snatched two of her kills.

She tossed her head, her green curls swaying, and said, "I don't care about your business! Go do it yourself! Hmph..."

With a final arrogant snort, Tornado flew off in another direction.

'Her childlike nature makes things a bit difficult...'

Lexon thought as he watched Tornado's departing figure.

He had originally wanted to build up some favorability so he could use gentler methods to sign in later... but given her personality, it seemed he would have to use some unconventional means.

With his thoughts concluded, Lexon created a Wood Clone.

He then ordered the Wood Clone to go to the Hero Association to handle the matter of the credit.

Since Tornado was unwilling... the Wood Clone would have to do it.

'Presumably, as my Wood Clone... it should be happy to work for the original...'

After that, Lexon headed toward Saitama's house, planning to go back and relax by playing games with him.

...

'So, the original didn't realize that if he's a lazy bum... his clone is going to be a lazy bum too?'

Lexon's Wood Clone thought to himself while flying toward the Hero Association.

As a Wood Clone, his top-tier Six Paths power was still among the elite in this world.

Consequently, his travel speed was extremely fast, and he reached the Hero Association in a very short time.

Compared to the branch offices, the Hero Association Headquarters was far more magnificent.

It was a towering skyscraper with a solid and high-tech exterior...

This building, serving as the Hero Association Headquarters, was constructed by the S-Class hero Metal Knight. It had even remained standing under the city-leveling fire from the ship of Boros, the overlord of the universe who possessed near God-level power in the original story.

One could imagine just how sturdy the structure was.

"Who are you?" Seeing an unfamiliar person walk in, the short-haired woman at the front desk inquired.

She remembered that no one else was scheduled to register at Headquarters today...

"Hello, I'm a hero who just registered recently." Lexon approached the front desk, introducing himself with a greeting.

"Huh?" Whether she was doubting the truth of Lexon's words or was simply stunned by his looks as he drew closer, the woman let out a confused sound.

"This is proof." To avoid trouble, Lexon pulled out his hero license and opened it.

"Oh, I see..." The short-haired woman responded quickly. The rank on the license was B-Class; she couldn't afford to be disrespectful as a regular staff member.

'And this person... he's really handsome...'

However, as a staff member trained at Headquarters, she wasn't completely blinded by his looks; a bit of doubt remained in her heart.

Her professional training allowed her to remember every hero in B-Class and above...

She hadn't heard any news of a C-Class hero taking a promotion exam to reach B-Class recently...

So she didn't quite understand where this B-Class hero named Lexon had come from... but the seal on the license couldn't be faked...

As an excellent Headquarters employee, the woman was always respectful toward heroes. Thus, despite her doubts, she asked Lexon kindly, "Is there something I can help you with, Mr. Lexon?"

"I killed a monster and came to report the credit," Lexon replied.

'Is he a hero just for the sake of fame and credit...?'

Upon hearing that he had come specifically to report a kill, the woman couldn't help but think to herself.

She didn't necessarily look down on heroes with such motives; after all, objectively speaking, they were still protecting humanity, and it was only natural to seek something in return.

However, her impression of this exceptionally handsome man still dropped a few points in her heart.

"Alright, Mr. Lexon, please provide the specific time, location, and the monster's rank. Afterward, Headquarters will conduct an investigation of the actual site based on your statement. Once verified, the achievement will be added to your hero profile," the short-haired woman responded professionally. She then sat down in her chair, eyes on the computer screen, and placed her hands on the keyboard, ready to type in his words.
