Victor's POV
I heard her still crying. But I couldn't stop. Couldn't turn around. Because if I did, if I looked at her one more time, I would break completely.
"Victor, I'm begging you!" Her voice broken. "Please! Just listen! Let me explain! I didn't...I wouldn't...PLEASE!"
I spun around so fast she nearly collided with my chair. She stumbled back to her doorway, her face streaked with tears, her hands outstretched toward me.
"Don't follow me," I said, my voice dead. Empty. "Don't come after me. Just... just pack your things and go."
"I can't," she sobbed. "I can't just let you believe..."
"I believe what I saw." I looked at her one last time. Memorized her face even as it destroyed me. "I saw you in bed with another man. That's all I need to know."
"But that's not the truth! The truth is..."
"I don't care about your truth!"
Silence fell between us, heavy and terrible.
Emily stood there, swaying slightly, her face white as chalk.
