...

As Caster continuously caught Seaking, the cheat ability notifications kept appearing before his eyes, with various rewards dazzling to behold.

"What a haul! What a haul!"

Caster beamed with joy.

Since the Seaking in this bay came from the ocean, their size and strength were clearly superior to those from rivers and ponds, making the rewards noticeably more generous.

Even the rewarded Energy Orbs seemed to have grown a size larger in volume, containing purer energy with better nourishing effects.

This could be seen from Pichu's expression when Caster fed it the Energy Orbs.

After digesting the Energy Orbs, Pichu lay prone on the deck, eager to act, its cheek pouches constantly flashing with electric arcs, ready to strike.

"Pi~ Pichu~"

Should I zap them?

Still not zapping?

Why aren't we zapping again?

Watching the continuously hooked Seaking, Pichu felt the electric current in its body was already unbearably restless.

I, this little mouse, love electro-fishing the most!!!

However, since Caster hadn't given the attack command, Pichu didn't dare attack on its own.

"Look at you, getting all worked up again!"

Caster quickly pressed down the eager little Pichu.

Right now, Caster had an understanding with the underwater Seaking. Their relationship was harmonious and smooth, with no quarrels and certainly no battles.

The wild Seaking got food to fill their bellies, while Caster received generous rewards from his cheat ability. Both sides had a bright future.

But if Pichu started electro-fishing and fighting broke out, this mutual understanding might be interrupted.

Fighting took time, which would affect Caster's fishing efficiency and final count.

Most importantly, the aftermath of battle might scare away the Seaking queuing up underwater to bite the hooks. More trouble than it was worth.

This wasn't what Caster wanted to see.

After all, in Caster's eyes, the cheat ability's rewards were undoubtedly the most important thing.

As for the fishing tournament championship and prizes, those were actually dispensable extras.

"Pi~"

Pichu sighed helplessly and collapsed on the deck, listlessly yawning.

"This guy must be a beginner, right? All the Seaking he's catching are so small. What's he got to be so proud of?"

Seeing Caster grinning from ear to ear and occasionally shouting excitedly, another competitor fishing in the same rocky waters felt baffled.

"The Seaking in this area are all pretty average-sized. Miscalculation. Totodile, let's go find a new spot!"

After saying this, the competitor piloted his boat with his partner Totodile and left this water area.

Little did he know that Caster was excited about the cheat ability's rewards.

"He left?"

Watching the competitor depart, Caster wasn't alarmed but delighted instead, laughing heartily. "Even better; now I can have this whole area to myself."

This water area was dotted with reefs and home to large numbers of Seaking, but because the reef crevices were too small, their sizes weren't particularly large.

Wanting to catch super-sized Seaking here was clearly impossible, so most competitors weren't very interested in this area.

But to Caster, any Seaking that would bite was a good Seaking.

[Caught 'Seaking,' reward: 1 Energy Orb.]

[Caught 'Seaking,' reward: 1 Water Pulse TM.]

[Caught 'Seaking,' reward: 1 Ability Candy.]

The rocky waters.

On the small boat, Caster kept reeling in fish, earning rewards left and right.

Pichu on the deck was bored out of its mind and seemed to have fallen asleep, a bubble forming at its nose.

"Hm? Ability Candy?"

Seeing the newly acquired reward, Caster couldn't help but look curious.

He knew about Rare Candies, but Ability Candy didn't seem to exist as an item in the games.

Just as Caster's mind stirred and he was about to take out the Ability Candy to examine it, a thick electrical current flew over from not far away, striking Pichu precisely on the head.

"Pi~"

The soundly sleeping Pichu was immediately shocked awake. Its originally clean and smooth yellow fur became charred black, and it continuously exhaled black smoke from its mouth.

Fortunately, Caster was sitting at the other end of the boat fishing; otherwise, he would've been caught in the crossfire.

"Got struck again?!"

Caster's face showed a hint of helplessness.

Nourished by the Energy Orbs, Pichu's abilities in all aspects had improved rapidly, but the improvement in developing its ability was not significant.

So Pichu would get struck by lightning from time to time; Caster was used to it by now.

The only problem was that while the lightning was drawn in by Lightning Rod, little Pichu's electric pouches were too small and couldn't digest it all, ultimately resulting in the current overflowing and causing injury.

"I'm so sorry, is your Pichu okay?"

A voice full of apology rang out, carrying some panic.

Caster turned to look and saw a girl in blue clothing piloting a boat over. At her bow lay a blue fish-shaped Pokémon.

It had large red eyes, a yellow mask-like pattern on its face, and a strange antenna growing from its head.

Branching from the middle of the antenna were two yellow spherical light organs; the one hanging in front of its head was larger, while the branched one was relatively smaller.

It was a Water and Electric dual-type Pokémon - Lanturn!

Clearly, that electrical current just now was this Lanturn's attack.

"It's fine! No big deal!"

Caster waved his hand dismissively.

He couldn't really hold this against them; after all, the root cause was that Pichu couldn't effectively control its Lightning Rod ability.

The best way to avoid this would be to keep Pichu in its Poké Ball.

However, Caster was unwilling to do that, because having a Pokémon always by his side made him feel more secure.

Even with the risk of getting struck by lightning!

"That's good then! I'll go fish now, goodbye!"

The female fisher waved and piloted her boat away, deliberately keeping her distance from Caster.

"Pi~"

Little Pichu's eyes filled with tears, looking thoroughly aggrieved.

Why is it always me who gets hurt?

"Who told you you're still small? Once you grow a bit bigger, you'll be able to control turning your ability on and off."

Caster rubbed little Pichu's head soothingly.

"Oh right! That Ability Candy just now..."

Caster's eyes suddenly lit up, remembering the reward he'd just received.

With just a thought, a candy wrapped in red paper appeared in Caster's hand.

[Ability Candy: Candy filled with miraculous energy. When consumed, it enhances the Pokémon's ability development and utilization.]

"Just as I thought!"

Caster's face lit up with joy, so he quickly unwrapped the candy and popped it into Pichu's mouth.

"Pi~"

Savoring the delicious candy, Pichu's tears turned to laughter.

Even its eyes became sparkling bright, and the unpleasantness from just moments ago seemed completely forgotten—such a childlike nature.

"Pi~ Pichu~"

After finishing the candy, Pichu tugged at Caster's sleeve and started acting cute and sweet, obviously wanting more.

Caster spread his hands helplessly. "That's the only one; it's gone once you ate it!"

"Pichu~"

Pichu pouted, deeply disappointed.

"Come on, let's go find that Lanturn from earlier."

Caster looked around, searching for traces of that female fisher.

More than half the fishing time had passed by now, and the Seaking in this rocky area had basically all been fished by Caster once, so he was ready to move to a new spot.

Incidentally, he also wanted to test Pichu's current ability status.

"Found her, she's over there!"

Caster started the boat and headed east.

"Pi?"

Hearing this, Pichu looked at Caster with a horrified expression.

Trainer, I don't want to get zapped!

"It'll be fine!"

Caster grinned. "You're different from just now."
