The Golden Dawn headquarters was completely engulfed by dense, intertwining branches, forming a massive shield of World Tree Magic.
William pushed his magic to its limit, but unfortunately, his grimmoire wasn't built for offensive spells. World Tree Magic excelled at support, not direct combat.
Especially against an opponent like Dante. They weren't even on the same level.
World Tree Magic alone was not enough to stop Dante's overwhelming gravity.
With a deafening bang, Dante slammed straight down onto William. The dense branches shattered under the crushing weight. A massive pit formed in the ground, and William coughed up blood with a wet puff.
Using the last of his strength, William buried the seeds of the World Tree underground—his final desperate attempt to protect his fallen comrades.
Most of the Golden Dawn were dead or critically wounded. Other than those who happened to be out on missions, no one at headquarters could stand anymore.
The gravity crushed nearly everyone. A few were dying. Some were already gone.
"Caught one…" Dante grabbed William by the collar, frowning.
He couldn't sense Yami Sukehiro anywhere.
With William dangling in his grip, Dante flew toward the Black Bulls' base.
He just didn't believe it. Could Yami really never come back?
Fine. He'd use the dumbest method—sit back and wait.
Spade Kingdom
Nacht quietly infiltrated the underground laboratory. He suppressed his mana signature completely. Several Dark Apostles were here. Taking them out wouldn't be easy.
"Haha! My great work!"
Morris was rambling to Vanica, but Zenon ignored him completely.
Without devil power, Morris's research bored him.
Vanica and Zenon were both confined in nutrient chambers. But after losing Beelzebub, Zenon's treatment was far worse.
Without the devil's power, he was basically a discarded pawn.
Beelzebub, meanwhile, was in the underworld. His strength had returned to its peak, but he had lost his origin and felt weak inside.
"I will kill you…" Beelzebub raged through the underworld searching for Ladin.
He had to eat this human alive to vent the hatred boiling in his chest.
Underworld
Ladin had fully recovered on the first level of the underworld. But because he'd devoured too many demons, his mana was unstable—power swirling inside him, hard to digest all at once.
His body had turned pitch black, two curved horns jutting from his head, a third eye glowing on his forehead, and four blazing demonic wings spread wide behind him. He looked terrifying and majestic.
While the upper demons slept, Latin decided to venture deeper—to the second level.
The lower demons were too weak to give him a true edge. If he wanted to survive, he needed to take risks.
From the demons' memories, he'd learned the truth: high-ranking demons either slept or possessed humans to play games in the mortal realm. They rarely wandered these dark pits.
After all, they'd lived too long to care about this gloomy place.
The underworld was structured like an inverted pyramid—the deeper one went, the stronger the demons became.
Ladin pushed downward.
Beelzebub hunted upward.
Their collision was inevitable.
Hage Village
"Your Highness Yuno, you… you are the prince of the Spade Kingdom."
"What!"
Everyone in the church was stunned. Even Yuno himself froze.
At that moment, the magic stone hanging from his chest began to glow, pulling him into buried memories. When he came back, his eyes were sharp with resolve.
"I am Yuno… Deputy Captain of the Golden Dawn of the Clover Kingdom."
The bloodline of the Spade royal family—wiped out twenty years ago by Lucius and his followers—had survived after all.
"Prince…" The injured guard stared at Yuno blankly. The little boy from long ago had finally grown up.
Stood tall and proud.
"Deputy Captain, please come back and take a look!"
A Golden Dawn mage on a mission urgently contacted Yuno through the communication tool.
"I'm leaving first." Yuno didn't even have time to say goodbye to his church family.
He leapt onto his broom and soared toward headquarters.
"What happened?" he demanded.
"The headquarters… it's destroyed. The Captain is missing… and everyone is dead!"
"What!?" Yuno's eyes widened.
He blasted forward, Wind Magic roaring around him as he flew at top speed.
Undersea Temple
Noelle was truly the darling of water magic, and communicating with the Sea God came naturally to her.
The world was trembling toward its end, and Leviathan was awakening.
The reason for his fury became clear: the world itself was on the brink of destruction.
"You are the one I am waiting for," Leviathan said solemnly.
Noelle's heart skipped a beat. She looked at Leviathan nervously. "Then… what should I do?"
"Sign a contract with me," the Sea God answered.
Noelle's jaw dropped. She couldn't believe her luck.
Two years ago she was the black sheep of her family. Now she was chosen by the Sea God.
"Alright."
She nodded firmly.
Because the Sea God Contract Ceremony was long, Finral reported back to Yami and temporarily stayed at the temple with Vanessa, while Asta and the others returned to the Black Bulls' base.
They'd been gone for days. It was time to head home.
Elysia
Meanwhile, Adam—who'd been unconscious for days—finally opened his eyes.
"Zodiac… don't leave!" He bolted upright, face pale, heart hammering.
In that long nightmare, he'd lost his Zodiac abilities and been hunted by everyone he'd ever pissed off.
Every enemy, every grudge. All of them tearing him apart.
"Are you alright?" Dryad grabbed Adam's hand.
Adam exhaled shakily, looking around at the elves who'd cared for him. "Thank you… you've worked hard."
If not for them, he probably would've bled to death.
"This is what we should do," Patolli said calmly.
He explained how they'd destroyed the altar.
Adam nodded. "You did well. If those two Wizard Kings got their hands on the altar, it'd have been a nightmare."
"Wizard Kings?" Patolli blinked.
Adam glanced toward Princia, standing silently by the window. Clearly, she hadn't told the others what happened in the secret realm.
Adam quickly filled them in. Patolli and the others were shocked.
The story sounded like a fairy tale. A Wizard King resurrected… and Adam actually defeated him.
No wonder Adam and Princia were so badly injured. Anyone else would've died.
"Where's the sword?" Adam asked.
"You mean this?" Patolli lifted the reforged blade. The elves' master blacksmith had reshaped the broad imperial blade into a thin, elegant sword, adding a new hilt and special materials.
"Master, we reforged it. What do you think?"
Adam ran his fingers along the blade with something close to reverence. "Perfect. I like it a lot."
"Let's just call you the Human Emperor Sword!"
…Fantasy and childish. But it felt right.
Though many of its original functions were lost, its core remained.
And with that power, Adam knew—this sword would give him one hell of a boost.
