"What's going on?"
The guards snapped out of their daze, standing there blankly with no clue what to do.
"I'm going to kill you!"
With a crack, Vanica burst out of the warehouse, her expression twisted in fury.
Ever since she gained the power of her Devil more than ten years ago and lost to the strongest reclusive Magic Knight in the Clover Kingdom, she had never been humiliated like this.
"Mm." Zenon was also awakened by Vanica's roar.
He shattered the glass with his bone magic and jumped out, pulling out the tubes stuck in his body.
"Brother Zenon, let's hurry up too! Brother Dante must have gone to the Clover Kingdom."
Vanica's tone was impatient.
She clearly didn't fully trust Dante — and deep down, she was starting to doubt her own strength.
"Alright. Let's head to the Clover Kingdom immediately." Zenon could open a space tunnel at any time.
After years of lurking, he had harvested countless souls. By converting soul magic, he could now use a wide variety of spells.
The Wizard King really did live up to his reputation.
And this was just the beginning. Once he seized the power of the Tree of Qliphoth and took control of the Underworld using the Magic Book Towers spread across the continent, he could truly surpass the Wizard King.
"Brother Zenon, go support Brother Dante. I'll head to the Water City to capture that woman, Lolopechka."
The Queen of the Heart Kingdom held the wisdom of the queens before her — knowledge that might help accelerate the opening of the gate to the Underworld.
Foolish woman.
Zenon frowned. He knew Vanica's interference could be a problem. With time magic, they could just accelerate the process without needing her to capture anyone.
But he couldn't say that aloud.
"Brother Zenon, I'm off!"
Zenon watched Vanica's figure vanish into the distance. He felt a flicker of regret. If he'd known she would be this troublesome, he would've devoured her earlier.
That way, she'd never disobey him.
Lucius never imagined that Megicula required the souls of three female Magic Knights to manifest her true form in this world.
The lost origin could be restored.
Noelle's mother was one of the sacrifices.
Two more needed to be chosen from: Charlotte, Lolopechka, and Vanica.
Devils had no humanity. To them, human lives were nothing.
In Megicula's eyes, Vanica wasn't even a chess piece — just a spare sacrifice.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Morris muttered to himself.
Lucius had already departed for the Clover Kingdom. If he'd heard Morris, he would've ripped the scientist's soul out on the spot.
No one stood in the way of his plans.
Golden Dawn Headquarters
"How is that possible?" Yuno — the prince of endless winter — stared ahead in shock and despair.
"Senior Klaus, Sylph, Alkrad..." Yuno knelt beside the wounded, yelling, "Hurry! Find someone who can use healing magic!"
"More than half are dead," a member whispered. "The others… barely breathing. They can't be saved."
"Impossible!" Yuno shoved the man aside, rushing to his comrades' side.
When he first arrived at Golden Dawn, most had looked down on him because of his commoner status.
But over time, those walls crumbled. They'd become family.
His position as Vice-Captain was proof of that.
"Ahhh!!!" Yuno's legs gave out. He collapsed to his knees, grief tearing through him. His roar split the air. "Who the hell did this?!"
With a puff, a small green sapling sprouted from the ground. It was Captain William's last spell. Even while captured, he still tried to save his squad.
"World Tree Magic?" Yuno stared as the sapling grew into a towering tree.
A soft green light enveloped the wounded, healing their injuries.
He rushed to Klaus and the others.
"Yuno… Captain William's been captured. You have to save him…" Alkrad — who had always been at odds with Yuno — spoke weakly, begging.
"What happened?" Yuno demanded.
"A man… a terrifying man. He descended from the sky. Captain William…" Alkrad's voice cracked as tears welled up.
They hadn't even had a chance to fight back. How could this still be called the strongest Magic Knight squad?
Yuno fell silent, a heavy weight settling in his chest. As Vice-Captain, he bore responsibility.
What kind of man couldn't protect his own home?
The surviving members stirred, but the sadness in the air was suffocating.
Half of their squad had perished. No magic could bring them back.
Yuno clenched his fists. He had to report this to the royal capital. He couldn't face this alone.
But together, they might still stand a chance.
Black Bulls Headquarters
"Why haven't they come back yet?" Dante grew impatient, gripping William with one hand.
His rage was boiling over, and he wished he could rip Yami to pieces.
"Found it. North of here," Lucifer growled.
No devil could resist the urge to descend into this world in their true form.
He lent Dante his senses to locate the target.
Dante moved swiftly. His body transformed into a demon, and he shot north like a bullet.
Meanwhile, inside the Black Bulls' mobile fortress, Asta and the others were in the middle of a feast.
The air was filled with laughter and noise.
But then, the air turned cold.
Yami frowned. He put down his bottle and drew his katana. "Alright, boys. Party's over."
"Guests are coming."
A chill ran down his spine as he felt the ominous power closing in.
"Guests?" Asta blinked in confusion.
Luck's grin widened. "Strong… really strong!"
Everyone could feel the demonic magic — everyone except Asta.
Dante's figure appeared before the Black Bulls' base. A wave of killing intent surged over them.
"Henry!" Yami barked. A wall of the base split open, creating an opening.
"Dimensional Slash — Beyond!"
A black blade cleaved through space, slicing straight toward Dante.
"Too slow." Dante twisted his massive body, narrowly avoiding the slash. With a deafening boom, he slammed into the Bulls' base.
Without Vanessa's Rouge, there was no way to dodge it.
Crash!
The entire Black Bulls base shattered under the impact. Everyone tumbled to the ground.
"William!" Yami leapt into the air.
He saw William dangling in Dante's grasp and immediately lunged with his blade.
"Mana Zone… Open!"
