Lara's POV
My entire body trembled as I stood frozen in place. The black wolf remained before me, massive and silent, his fur gleaming like liquid shadow beneath the pale glow of the moon. His eyes burned a deep, haunting crimson, wild yet calm, as if they carried an ancient knowledge that reached into the very depths of my soul.
For a long, breathless moment, I didn't move. The only sound was the frantic beating of my heart echoing in my ears. Fear clawed at my chest, urging me to scream again, to run, but something in those glowing eyes held me still. There was no anger in them, no hunger or threat. Instead, there was recognition that strangely familiar.
Then, slowly, the wolf lowered his head, his movements graceful and deliberate, as if to show me that he meant no harm.
My breath caught. "It's you," I whispered, my voice trembling as I stepped closer. "You are the one who saved me."
