Arthanial was a child who was half human and half angel. Unlike the other pantheons, where most demigods are born directly from the relationship between a god and a mortal or through their descendants, Christianity does not have a similar concept of demigods. They adopt children from orphanages who show high potential at a young age and teach them to channel the faith energy from the angels who are connected to the priests in the Vatican. Then they are given essences of angels. The amount they absorb will depend upon their own talents.
But very rarely, a child will be born with a talent to assimilate with an angel's energy like no other and turn into a half-angel, half-human being the moment they are born. Arthanial was the half angel of this generation. As long as he could remember, he was raised with the belief that the Christian pantheon was the strongest pantheon in the world. Learning that the number of worshippers determined the power of a pantheon, Arthanial was able to easily understand that Christianity was the strongest in the current world.
And learning about the spell that brings forth the power of their own God into the mortal plane had increased his belief even more in his own pantheon.
But today, all those beliefs broke at the same time. He believed the brothers and sisters he grew up with would be strong enough to contend with any strong demigod of other pantheons. But even combined, they were unable to defeat the one who had committed a crime in the city where they were the strongest. But even then, he was not disheartened. He believed he was more than strong enough to beat him. But the initial analysis had revealed a stunning lack of information that made him realise the depth of the enemy he was facing right now.
So he decided to move on to the last resort made by their pantheon. The spell was made by combining the information the Christian pantheon had obtained from all the other pantheons present within the world. They had accumulated information for centuries and compared it to find the common points between every single pantheon and their origins. The spell was supposed to be their ultimate weapon against any adversary they would ever face on Earth. Arthanial believed in it wholeheartedly as well.
He activated the spell and completed its requirements by explaining it to his opponent. Normally, revealing the effects of such a spell is ill-advised, as countermeasures can be made so that this spell cannot be activated at all. But Arthanial had no problems in doing so because he believed his God would wipe out the opponent completely without any problems at all.
But reality appeared as a cold slap upon his face.
He looked at his battered body and shattered wings. He looked at his hands, which were still shaking because of the aftermath of the attack he had faced from the enemy's god.
He looked at his opponent and found that he did not even have a single scratch on his body.
This only meant one thing.
His God had lost.
Not in a drawn-out battle. Not through a small mishap or luck. The battle ended within moments the god of the opponent was summoned. Arthanial realised that he survived only because the enemy had no wish to cause him harm at all and had spared him from the wrath of his opponent's god.
'If so, then why did he attack the cardinal in the palace? Why did he kill him?'
Arthanial gulped as he gathered the courage to ask the question.
"Why did you kill our cardinal? He has no enmity with any other pantheon out there. And there is no reason for there to be a war between pantheons right now. So why did you kill him?" he asked and waited for the reply.
To this, Silva just scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
"Well, no one stopped to ask and decided to attack me without warning. I guess you can say it was kind of your fault," he replied and then explained everything.
Arthanial calmly listened to everything that he said to him. He learned his opponent's name was Silva and that he had originated from the Greek pantheon. He learned about how Silva was on a mission to extract a few demigods safely while they were being attacked by monsters and how he had teleported into the room without any warning.
Arthanial had another ability that he obtained when he turned into a half angel. It was the ability to differentiate between truth and lies. He felt the power activate slightly when Silva mentioned that he was from the Greek pantheon. It did not mean that he was lying; it just meant that he was not telling the complete truth.
But Arthanial did not care about it, as it did not matter. What mattered was when Silva said that he did not commit the crime; the ability told him that Silva was not lying at all.
"I apologise for attacking you without hearing your side first. My ability confirms that what you told me just now was the truth and that you are innocent in the crime of killing one of our own." He then took out a feather from his broken wings and channelled as much energy as he could at the moment into the single feather. He then gave it to Silva, who accepted it while confused about what it was.
"This feather contains enough energy to heal a person back to complete health as long as it is administered before they are completely dead. This is not enough compensation for the mercy you have shown towards us. But for now, this is the only thing I can give to you in this limited time. I know you have to go back to your friends who might be in trouble. So I will make sure to inform the others about the truth of what happened here," Arthanial said, to which Silva nodded as he put the feather in the scarf around his neck.
He then turned around and began running towards the coastal area, clearly going towards the ships that might be going to America.
A/N – hope you like it.
