Chapter 75 - Chapter 75 — When Beauty Turns Dangerous

Chapter 75 — When Beauty Turns Dangerous

Bai Xia waited for almost five whole minutes before Fu Jian's familiar black car finally rolled up to the curb. The sun was ruthless today, baking the pavement and slowly frying her patience along with it.

The moment the door unlocked, she slipped inside with a dramatic sigh.

"What took you so long? Another minute and I would've dried up like a shrimp left in the sun."

She turned toward him, ready to complain more—

and froze.

Fu Jian was staring at her.

Not a normal stare.

A completely brain-emptied, soul-snatched, knocked-out-by-beauty stare.

"…Fu Jian?"

Nothing.

She tapped his cheek.

Still nothing.

She smacked him lightly on the forehead.

That did it.

He blinked rapidly, ears instantly flushing pink. He looked at her as if trying to process the visual miracle sitting in his passenger seat.

"What are you looking at me like that for? Did you at least bring me something to eat?" Bai Xia asked, eyebrow raised.

Silence.

"Fu Jian, I swear I'll leave this car—"

His voice finally returned, soft and slightly breathless. "…Bai Xia. Did you… change your lipstick today?"

Bai Xia's face heated at once.

She touched her lips subconsciously.

"I—I always use this shade."

Fu Jian leaned closer, his gaze tracing every detail of her face. His voice dropped into something deep and sincere.

"Well… you look beautiful, my love. Too beautiful. I'm afraid someone will snatch you."

Her heart skipped.

Her ears burned.

She looked away quickly.

Hearing "my love" on the phone was one thing.

Hearing it with that voice, that close, was another matter entirely.

"Just drive. I'm already late."

He wanted to tease her more—oh, he very much wanted to—but he restrained himself. Barely. Instead he leaned in closer and gently fastened her seatbelt. His fingers brushed her collarbone and she stiffened instinctively.

This man… was becoming dangerous.

By the time they arrived at the school gate, Bai Xia had regained a fraction of her composure. She reached for the door handle.

Or tried to.

"Fu Jian," she said slowly, "why won't this open?"

Fu Jian rested an elbow on the wheel and looked straight at her, expression far too serious.

"My love. When we're alone… don't call me Fu Jian. Call me 'my love' too. Or something sweet."

Bai Xia choked on her own breath.

Even in her past life, she never used pet names. Never "baby," never "darling," not even "babe." Men were men. Names were names. The end.

"Fu Jian, I can't. I'm not thick-skinned like you. I've never done that before." She pouted slightly without realizing it.

His eyes softened in a way that made her even more flustered.

"Then call me Brother Jian."

Bai Xia's face burned red.

She looked away.

"…Brother Jian," she whispered.

Fu Jian lit up instantly, smiling like she'd handed him a treasure.

"My love."

"…Yes?"

"How about a little kiss?"

Her expression died instantly.

She smacked him again.

"You've become quite ambitious lately."

"I haven't even dated you for a full month! One month! And you're already asking for kisses!"

"I know, my love. But you look… too beautiful today. How about just one on the cheek?"

She crossed her arms.

"No."

"I just want you to kiss me a little. On the cheek. Here." He tapped lightly. "Just… a small one."

"No. What's next? You'll ask me to go to your bed?"

He didn't hesitate.

"Then come to my bed, wife. It's big enough for both of us."

"FU. JIAN!"

She bonked him again. He winced theatrically.

He raised his hands in surrender.

"Okay, okay. Wife, I'm sorry. Look, I got you something."

Instant transformation.

Her eyes widened like a cat who just smelled fresh fish.

"Brother Jian… what did you get me?"

Fu Jian almost burst out laughing at how fast her mood swung.

He reached into the mysterious depths of his car and pulled out a small velvet box. He placed it gently on her palm.

Bai Xia opened it—and her breath caught.

Inside lay a thin emerald bracelet.

Elegant. Delicate. Glowing softly under the light.

"Fu Jian… it's beautiful."

Her voice softened. "I love it."

She wanted to hug him.

Almost did.

But managed to hold herself back.

"As long as you like it," he murmured, "I'll keep getting you more."

"I feel bad… I didn't get you anything."

He smiled. "Then give me one little kiss as repayment."

She exhaled dramatically.

"Fine… only one."

She leaned forward and pressed a small, soft kiss onto his cheek.

Barely a second.

Barely a touch.

Fu Jian was absolutely not satisfied.

Before she could pull away, his hand slid behind her waist and he gently pulled her close—his head dipping into the crook of her neck.

"Fu—Fu Jian! You said only a kiss!"

Her voice wavered.

Because his warm breath traced along her neck, sending a wave of goosebumps down her spine.

He kissed the sensitive skin under her ear.

Light. Slow.

Dangerously intimate.

The air in the car thickened.

Bai Xia's breath hitched softly—just one tiny sound—

And that was all it took for Fu Jian to lose the last of his patience.

He kissed her again, deeper into her neck, his hold tightening just slightly as if trying to memorize her scent.

"Fu… Jian…"

Her voice was barely there.

Weak. Trembling.

He hummed against her skin.

"My love…"

The temperature climbed.

The windows fogged slightly.

Their hearts beat too fast, too loud.

Then—

Knock. Knock.

They froze.

Bai Xia jerked backward so fast she slapped him again.

"What were you doing?! Didn't you say just a kiss?!"

"But I didn't force you, my love—"

"YOU—!"

She stopped mid-scream.

Because Fu Jian's gaze had shifted to the window.

"My love," he said quietly, "who's that outside?"

His car windows were tinted, so the person outside couldn't see anything happening inside.

But Bai Xia could see her clearly.

A girl.

Standing too close.

Peering too eagerly.

And the second Bai Xia recognized her—

Her entire aura changed.

Her playful embarrassment evaporated.

Her flushed cheeks cooled.

Her eyes sharpened into something cold and cutting.

Fu Jian noticed instantly.

His own expression darkened, protective instinct flaring.

"My love… what's wrong?"

Bai Xia didn't answer him.

Her gaze stayed locked on the girl outside.

Her breathing slowed.

Her posture straightened.

The air around her turned heavy, almost chilling.

Finally—

Her voice came out soft.

Too soft.

Calm in a way that felt like a storm preparing to break.

"The time has finally come…"
