Chapter 103: Quiet Luxury and Dangerous Tenderness

"Sister-in-law Mu… don't you think Chu Sun is a bit stingy and wicked—"

Ye Fan didn't even get the chance to finish her sentence.

Bai Gin cut her off coldly. "If you have nothing good to say, Auntie, then leave. We don't need your so-called righteous words in this house."

Her tone was sharp, carrying not a trace of politeness.

How could Bai Gin not see what Ye Fan was trying to do?

Her mother had a very good relationship with Chu Sun. Because of that, their family had gained so many unspoken benefits. Bai Gin personally didn't think Chu Sun was bad at all—on the contrary, she liked her very much. Chu Sun always took good care of Bai Gan, treating her with patience and sincerity.

The only one she couldn't quite understand was Bai Xia. That woman always felt a little strange… too calm, too distant, yet unbelievably powerful.

Ye Fan choked on her words.

Before she could recover, Mu Yen also saw right through her intentions.

"Ye Fan," Mu Yen said coldly, "don't try to sow discord here. What exactly do you want?"

Ye Fan instinctively looked at her son for backup.

But Bai Xiangtin was completely useless at that moment.

He was busy playing with Bai Gan. He lifted the little girl onto his shoulders, carrying her high into the air. In return, Bai Gan happily stuffed sweets into his mouth, laughing brightly.

Ye Fan's face twitched.

What a useless son.

Her eyes slowly drifted to the shopping bags placed neatly on the floor.

The bags were filled with high-end skincare products. Even without opening them, she could tell they were extremely expensive. Her heart immediately burned with greed.

Bai Gin noticed her gaze instantly.

Her eyes sharpened with anger. "These were bought for us by Aunt Chu Sun. You can't have them. Don't even think about it."

As she spoke, she bent down, grabbed the bags firmly, and walked straight upstairs to her room.

Ye Fan's face darkened completely.

This Bai Gin—she was becoming bolder and bolder now that she had money and backing!

She turned toward Mu Yen with resentment in her eyes, but Mu Yen didn't even spare her a glance. She simply turned back to prepare the food.

Ye Fan could only sit there helplessly, waiting shamelessly for the meal.

Meanwhile…

Chu Sun drove Bai Xia all the way to the hospital.

Bai Xia actually didn't like staying in hospitals. The smell of disinfectant made her uncomfortable. But she also didn't want to leave Fu Jian alone, so she still came.

After arriving, she went to the restroom to remove her uniform and change into casual clothes.

Her outfit today was simple but carried an unmistakable sense of quiet luxury.

She wore a soft ivory silk blouse with clean lines, the fabric smooth and faintly glossy under the light. Her trousers were tailored black slacks, not tight, not loose—perfectly fitted to her figure. On her wrist was a thin, elegant watch with no flashy diamonds, only a subtle gold rim that whispered wealth rather than screamed it.

No obvious logos.

No exaggerated designs.

Yet every detail quietly declared refinement and expense.

Her long hair fell naturally over her shoulders, and her face remained clean and bare without heavy makeup—just gentle, effortless beauty.

She walked back toward Fu Jian's ward holding the scar-removal cream she had bought earlier, along with a bottle of water from her space. The water had already been mixed with ordinary water.

When she opened the door—

Fu Jian was sitting on the hospital bed, flipping through a stack of documents calmly.

Bai Xia froze on the spot.

Her eyes immediately fell on his hand.

Wasn't it supposed to be broken?

Her expression changed instantly as she strode forward.

Fu Jian originally thought the person entering was a nurse. He didn't even look up.

Then—

A small, pale hand slammed down on his documents.

He lifted his head.

And met Bai Xia's furious face.

"Isn't your hand broken?" she snapped. "Then why are you still working?"

Fu Jian paused for a second. "The doctor said this morning that it healed a little. It's just a fracture. Just a small crack."

"What do you mean 'just a small crack'?!"

Bai Xia raised her hand and knocked him lightly on the head.

"A small crack can turn into a big one!"

Fu Jian caught her wrist before she could hit him again and pressed her hand against his chest, his voice suddenly soft.

"I'm sorry, wife. I won't use this hand anymore."

Bai Xia became even angrier. "What do you mean you won't use this hand? You won't use any hand!"

She sighed softly, her tone finally softening.

"Brother Jian… you should rest."

Fu Jian's heart suddenly felt like something gently brushed against it.

He slowly lifted her hand to his lips.

And kissed her pinky finger.

Bai Xia felt as if she had been electrocuted.

Her entire body stiffened, and she immediately pulled her hand back.

"What… what are you doing?!" Her face was red from her ears to her cheeks.

Fu Jian still reached out and held onto her fingers. His gaze was deep and burning.

"Don't call me Brother Jian anymore," he said in a low voice. "Call me husband… or hubby. Hmm?"

Bai Xia finally dragged her hand away completely.

"You're such a pervert!" she snapped. "Why did you do that to my hand?!"

Fu Jian smiled wickedly. "Because I want to eat you."

Bai Xia: "...…"

"You look very delicious."

Bai Xia: "...…"

She wanted to hit him again.

But she knew that if she did, he would just grab her hand all over again.

She snorted and turned her head away in humiliation.

Fu Jian chuckled lowly, his mood incredibly good.

"Come over," he said. "I want to tell you something."

Bai Xia hesitated, then walked over slowly.

Fu Jian suddenly patted his own lap, signaling for her to sit on it.

Bai Xia lifted her hand and smacked his injured arm without mercy. Fu Jian immediately put on a dramatic expression of pain.

"All you think about all day is taking advantage of me," she scolded. "Do you think I'm a baby? Why should I sit on your lap? You clearly have bad intentions!"

"No, wifey," Fu Jian said seriously, his eyes smiling. "I just want to gain some benefits. Who would have thought you'd break my arm like that?"

Bai Xia snorted. "Then I'll break your other arm too."

They were still bickering when—

Knock, knock.

The door was pushed open.

A young man who looked to be in his early twenties walked in.

Fu Jian immediately cleared his throat and straightened his posture slightly. "This is my prospective assistant, Ruan Jing."

Ruan Jing bowed deeply to Bai Xia. "Good day, Madam."

Bai Xia gave a small polite bow in return.

Then she turned back to Fu Jian and stuffed the scar-removal cream into his hands.

"I'm leaving, humph!"

With that, she turned around and walked straight out.

The moment she left—

The temperature in the ward dropped sharply.

Fu Jian's playful smile vanished instantly.

His eyes darkened with chilling killing intent.

"So," he said coldly, "what did you find out?"

Ruan Jing swallowed nervously. "Fortunately… this accident truly was an accident. No one was manipulating it from behind."

"The driver turned himself in to the police," he continued. "He couldn't afford the medical bills and surrendered voluntarily."

Fu Jian narrowed his eyes slightly.

After a few seconds, his murderous aura slowly subsided.

"If Fu Jian knew that he and Bai Xia had both suspected the same possibility from the very beginning," fate would laugh at how perfectly matched they were.

A match made in heaven.
