Chapter 34 - For Ria

Jokul was slammed deep into the fractured street by Luna's kick. Dust cleared around the impact zone and he slowly climbed to his feet, wiping blood from his chin.

"Whoo! That kick was fire, princess!" he called out. "You almost broke my spine. But I can't be distracted by the small things, can I?"

Luna's answer was silent aggression. She moved without a sound, her fists flared with flames.

Jokul reacted by throwing his hands up in a flourish, launching a series of red cards.

[Red cards? They seem slow.] Luna thought to herself. She charged straight into the volley. The cards exploded right before hitting her, the blasts of concussive force slamming into her fire aura.

Ravyn saw the explosions. "LUNA!" he screamed.

But Luna shot out of the flames, her speed cutting through the residual shockwaves. She caught Jokul before he could fully reset his stance, slamming him backward into a concrete wall with a powerful two-handed shove.

Before Jokul could do anything, she was throwing a savage barrage of ignited punches. The wall immediately spider-webbed, then shattered, under the destructive force of her blows.

Jokul, flashed a sick smile. He grabbed her wrist mid-punch, pulling her slightly off balance and drove his knee up hard, aiming for her face.

Luna blocked the knee strike with her forearm, the impact jarring her bone but failing to break her defense. Her fist's fire surged violently and she delivered a devastating counter-punch that sent Jokul flying laterally across the pavement.

He skidded dramatically, leaving a trench in the concrete that ended with him slamming against a ruined car door. Blood streamed from his nose and mouth, staining his garish attire.

"You're punches are hard too." Jokul wheezed, pushing himself up. "Guess I better start taking this serious as well."

He made a show of dusting himself off, pulling out a glittering barrage of his purple cards.

Luna too a few steps backwards, stunned by the barrage of purple. They shot forward at speeds that distorted the air, a deadly whirring swarm aimed to shred her.

Ravyn's deep red aura exploded outward, increasing his speed exponentially. He launched himself in front of Luna in a blur. He met the incoming cards head-on, unleashing a blinding series of empowered punches. Each collision was a miniature sonic boom.

Ravyn intercepted and redirected the projectiles, sending them screaming off-course destroying everything around him. The street became a zone of chaotic, random destruction.

Jokul's eyes widened, his mocking smile finally gone and replaced by genuine shock. No one had ever deflected his full-power Purple Cascade with bare fists.

Ravyn snatched the last two cards out of the air, gripping them tightly. And he grinned. "My turn."

His deep red aura intensified the cards. And he shot them back toward the Jester.

Jokul launched a shield of his own cards to intercept but Ravyn's projectiles shot through the shield, tearing the intercepting cards to shreds.

Jokul took a few steps back and desperately manifested a scythe in his hand, deflecting the first card with the blade and it tore through a wall. He spun and caught the second one smashing it into the ground, causing a deep crater.

The first card shot out from the car, slicing Jokul's left arm off. Blood sprayed out, splattering the ground with crimson droplets.

Jokul stared dumbly his severed arm, fingers still twitching. "Huh?"

Luna moved instantly, she launched herself forward. When he looked up, he met her fiery gaze. And she landed a devastating uppercut to his gut.

The blow lifted him clean off his feet. While he was suspended mid-air from the impact, she landed another barrage of ignited strikes to his torso and head.

Then grabbed him by the face with a flaming hand and slammed him into the cracked brick wall of the warehouse.

Jokul's body crumpled.

Luna raised her fist for the annihilating punch, her face contorted with the savage satisfaction of revenge.

Ravyn caught her wrist gently before she could punch.

"That's enough, Luna." he said, and turned to Jokul's body. "He's gone."
