Chapter 34 - Mechanicus Awakening

– Location – Forge World Noyolis –

Within a hall of machinery, the constant hum of machines and the sound of holy oils being sprayed onto massive cogs turned endlessly.

Rivers of holy oils flowed from the ceiling as servitors prayed hymns and hums to their leader. More machine than man, deeply entrenched within the wall of the hall, he suddenly jolted. His eyes varied from red to blue, all flickering as if life was blown into his husk of a body.

Alarms started to sound as machinery ran at full capacity. Tethers from the ceiling fell in front of the man in the wall as the servitors started shouting the holy prayers of the Omnissiah louder and louder.

Binharic speech, a dialect of static and white noise emitted from tailored enginseers and lexmechanics—hummed and chanted for their lord's awakening.

"Processus… sev-en-ty six per cent and ascending. Cognitive-core resurging. State the impetus for Awakening Protocol…"

Multiple voices rang out from the wall where the man was entrenched as a caterpillar-like Mechanicus priest marched forward from the gathered priests.

"Honoured Fabricator-General Dux… Chrono-logs confirm one hundred standard years have elapsed since the last sanctioned communiqué. A requisition has been inscribed upon the noospheric ledger — Directive: deployment parameters for Titanicus Legion Noyoleais to outward theatres of operation. Awaiting your supreme authorisation…"

Dux, with his body within the wall of machinery, let out a huff of smoke as gases and multiple black and multi-coloured liquids came rushing from his cerebral data array.

"Query registered… Why has such a requisition been assessed as sufficient to initiate the Awakening-Permission Subroutine of the Fabricator-General? Designation: Clarify the cause for rousing the Fabricator-General from stasis-cogitation…"

The caterpillar-like priest let a puff of smoke from his furnace-like end as it spoke in noospheric and sent an attachment towards the Fabricator-General of Noyolis.

Dux's cerebral and communicative parts whirled as he received the package from the priest. A long silence and query followed as the servitors shouted even louder in prayer to the machine spirits.

"Data-stream reinitiated… Intriguing anomalies have manifested since my last emergence from stasis. Revelation: The Omnissiah strides among the faithful, and one of His gene-sired progeny has set foot upon the enigmatic world designated Noyolea… Therefore, authorisation is granted:

The dispatch of Titanicus Legion Noyoleais, accompanied by Warlord-pattern god-engines and augmented cohorts of Skitarii, is now enabled. The Primarch's presence—combined with the alien sigils uncovered—has elicited significant curiosity within my higher datalooms…"

As the Fabricator-General finished speaking, the belts and cogs running his body in operation started to slow as the massive body of metal and tentacles retracted back into the wall. The tendrils from the ceiling retracted as well, and the rivers of holy oils slowly stopped flowing so rapidly.

The caterpillar-like priest waited for the sacred twelve minutes before retreating with an entourage of enginseers and lexmechanics.

The procession marched to the holy arrays of the Omnissiah, where they could communicate with any and all Mechanicus outposts and bases within the Omnishroud System.

The caterpillar-like priest stood at the centre of the array as the thudding of electricity and the booming of lightning from the cooling towers made the scene appear as though a monster had appeared.

The caterpillar-like priest rapidly spoke in binary, switching to noospheric and hexamathic before a green video scene came hovering in place in front of the mass of ceramite and plasteel.

The green video scene, once full of static, turned to show Archer Unit #45 – Class Magos – staring back at the caterpillar-like Mechanicus priest.

Archer, looking at the Arch-Magos, performed the symbol of the cog whilst bowing in reverence. The Arch-Magos spoke in High Gothic as his voice was transmitted through the array and arrived at the array on Noyolea.

"Identified: Magos-Unit #45, designation Archer… Your noospheric requisition for deployment of Titanicus Legion Noyoleais has been received, processed, and validated by Fabricator-General Dux. Be informed: the Fabricator-General exhibits heightened interest in the manifested Primarch and the recovered xeno-runes.

Accordingly, Outpost N.1 upon Noyolea has been augmented with additional Warlord-pattern god-engines and expanded Skitarii cohorts. Proceed with optimised efficiency, Magos Archer…"

Archer on Noyolea heard the Arch-Magos speak of the deployment of Warlord-class Titans and was thrilled. His influence was already the greatest of any Magos within ten solar systems, and with the new reinforcements of Warlords and Skitarii, he would be equal to Mars-born and initiated Magos.

Archer quickly let out a reply, his voice carrying evident excitement.

"Arch-Magos Ran… this unit submits a formal communiqué. Please relay—at the earliest efficient interval—this unit's gratitude to Fabricator-General Dux for his sanctioned trust in the ongoing securing of Primarch-Designation Nazareth and the containment-analysis of the xeno-runes present upon Noyolea. This unit remains ever obedient to the Omnissian will and to the directives of the Fabricator-General."

With a simple nod, Ran, the caterpillar-like Arch-Magos, signalled for the lexmechanics to stop the operation of the grand array. With the video feed being cut off, Archer, still looking at the green floating static screen in front of him, let out hisses of happiness as he turned and exited the array receiver.

Each step of his mechanical limbs made it evident even to servitors that Archer was in a good mood as the Magos walked towards the towering storage and repair facilities where the Warhounds and Reavers were rearmed or repaired when the tides of daemon-like beasts retreated.

Archer walked along the plasteel floor where the Reaver, which had previously had its apocalypse-class missile launcher torn off by a dragon-class lifeform, stood with fury emanating from its massive frame.

Archer continued walking, giving glances at the different states of the Titans. A total of three Warhounds had been lost, with six in critical condition. Archer continued until he reached the Senioris Reaver Titan, where, at the bottom of the Titan's foot, was an acolyte who greeted the Magos.

"I am here to speak to Senioris Scrum. Where is the Princept?"

The acolyte looked at the Magos as if from behind a man at least seven feet tall emerged from the armour plating of the Reaver's right foot.

"Magos Archer, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

The Magos looked at the Princeps, scrutinising the attire he wore before speaking with authority.

"Senioris Princeps Scrum, by order of myself and the Fabricator-General of Noyolis, you are to lead an expedition of twelve legions of Skitarii, twelve Warhound Titans, and your own Reaver towards these coordinates."

Scrum's back straightened immediately when he heard the order before his mind started to comprehend what he had just been given.

Scrum looked at Archer as if what he had just said had been a joke; however, Archer's plasteel-like face bore little to no human-like remark suggesting jest.

Scrum immediately performed the cog-salute and shouted:

"By the Omnissiah's decree, any who dare obstruct our ordained path to glory shall be rendered to ash beneath the certainty of volkite fire. I shall marshal the soldiery and rouse the god-engines. Deployment commences at 0600."

(AN: I gave Nazareth a bit more of a boost from the mechanicus, and erm its my birthday Sunday and if you expect me to work to post of Sunday or Saturday I'll take ya to court. :) But anyway thanks for reading.)
