Nessa ~
The room felt too quiet after everything that had just happened.
Too still.
Too charged.
My heart was still thudding unevenly against my ribs, the ghost of my sobs echoing in my ears. I hated that sound—hated that I had broken down in front of them. I'd always sworn never to let this world see me weak again. Not after what they did to my father. Not after the years of scorn. Not after clawing my way through the shadows of this pack with dignity as my only armor.
But tonight… my armor had cracked, and all three of them had seen what leaked through.
And worse, despite the fear, despite the humiliation, I was grateful they had stopped.
I drew in a shaky breath and wiped at my face, the remnants of tears drying hot on my cheeks.
"You should rest," Madoxx murmured, voice gentle in a way that didn't make sense for a man with shoulders that broad or a jaw that sharp. "You've had enough tonight."
