I spend less and less time with Willow as the days stretch into months. The walls of this room have become more a cage than a place of comfort. I have seen the look in my Queen's eyes switch from affection to fierce protection. I know this is because of the birth of our son. A daughter would have been preferable as a dragon Queen has always sat the throne.
Sorin thought it was interesting that dragons were matriarchal as most other clans and even humans coveted sons over daughters as they always had a strong male ruler in their kingdoms. He should not have been surprised as his mother was the current Queen over the dragons and he did not know who his father was. The fact that his mother didn't attempt to conceive a daughter though was quite surprising.
He turned the page and continued scanning the pages for anything that may have been of use.
Willow has finally allowed me to spend some time with my son. He is amazing! The most perfect being I have ever seen. Though I suppose every parent feels the same about their own children. Willow has explained to me that there is a ceremony that is to take place for the little prince. She has not elaborated but said that my presence is required. I am so happy to be a part of my child's life.
Sorin's brows furrowed as he read the words on the page. He didn't remember much from his childhood but he figured that if there was some sort of important ceremony he would have remembered it. Unless it was something that happened to the heir when they were still a baby. His mother had never told him about any such ceremony and he wondered if she would tell him if he questioned her about it.
As he continued to scan through the journal Sorin stopped on a page that looked as if it was written in haste. The previous entries were all written in an elegant male script but this one looked hurried and there were blobs of ink splattered on the page.
This will be my last entry. I must hurry to document everything I have found out in hopes that a future prince will find this journal and stop this practice from ever happening again!
I have discovered what this ceremony really is. It is a binding of a young male dragon's power. The Queen seals away their sons power in a ring so that she may claim it for herself. It keeps the young prince from developing properly so that they are never suitable to attain the throne.
The worst part is that this ritual requires the child's father to complete the sealing.
I just know in my bones that I will not walk away from this. Even now I hear the guards outside my door shift nervously as they wait to escort me to the ceremony.\ am sorry my son. I wish I had been stronger to prevent this from happening.
The journal entry stops there. The rest of the pages after it remain blank, it's owner had never come back to empart more knowledge to its pages.
Sorin was shocked. He had no idea that this was happening. How could he? He didn't remember a time where he had a father or a grandfather. He barely even had memories of his grandmother. He took a deep breath as he closed the journal and placed it back down on the low table. This was quite the revelation and Sorin wondered if his father was also human. This made him wonder why his mother was so adamant that he bond with Jora. He looked over at the sleeping Evelyn over on his bed and wondered how much more complicated would their lives become in the coming days.
He couldn't continue to dwell on in too much without more information. So with a back cracking stretch Sorin dimmed the crystal and attempted to get as comfortable as he could on the couch then promptly drifted off to sleep.

Jora rose early. The sun had barely risen above the horizon as she got out of bed and readied herself for the day. She had requested a quick breakfast in her suite and sat at the small table enjoying her food as she took in the view of the hidden village and the valley sprawled out below her. She smiled as she thought about becoming the ruler over the valley and the great dragon peaks beyond.
Today was the day that Jora would have her audience with the Queen. She would make sure that horrible human girl would be put in her place and then petition to have the bonding ceremony as soon as possible.
Yes! Today would be a very good day.
Jora was giddy the rest of the morning as she prepared for tea in the garden with the Queen. She opted for a loose and billowy pastel blue dress with silver trim that glittered in the sun. Once she was happy with her appearance Jora left the room with a happy twirl of her skirts and greacefully made her way out to the garden.
Queen Celeste sat at a small carved wooden table and sipped tea from a delicate looking cup as she enjoyed the early afternoon sun. She placed the cup and saucer back down on the table and smiled as she saw Jora approach.
"Please join me for tea." Celeste said as she gestured at the empty chair across from her.
"Thank you my Queen." Jora bowed before she sat in the offered chair. A servant hurried to bring her a cup and poured a fragrant floral tea into it for her.
"You may go now." The Queen dismissed the servant girl with a wave.
"Now..." Celeste raised her cup to her perfectly pouty lips and took a sip. "What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?"
Jora paused for only a moment. "I want to discuss moving up the wedding, and a plan to get rid of that pesky human girl."
